Vacuum switch The invention relates to a vacuum switch, d. H. an electrical switch that is operated by a negative pressure. The switch according to the invention should, for example, be connectable to the suction line of a pump and switch to protect the pump when a certain negative pressure is exceeded in the suction line.
Of course, the vacuum switch according to the invention can also be used for other applications, for example with vessels, containers, lines, etc. The vacuum switch according to the invention should be of a simple design and yet be extremely sensitive, so that it switches at low pressure differences. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the vacuum switch should be adjustable so that it switches at a specific, selectable vacuum.
The vacuum switch according to the invention is characterized by a housing which has a connection provided with a passage for a vacuum container, by a mem brane in this housing, which connects the housing to a pressure medium chamber connected to the vacuum container via the passage and divided into a switch part and by a microswitch in the housing, the switching element of which is connected to the membrane.
If the membrane has no or no sufficient inherent elasticity, a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that in the pressure medium chamber one end of the pressure spring rests approximately centrally against the membrane, the other end of which is supported against the housing.
According to one embodiment of the invention, provision can be made for a plunger which is connected to the switching element of the microswitch to rest against the side of the membrane facing the switch part, in order to protect the membrane from damage.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention it is provided that the housing consists of a base body and an upper housing, between which the membrane is arranged, that the connection is a threaded shaft on the base body in which an axial threaded hole is formed that a Threaded plug is net angeord in which the passage channel is formed, and that the compression spring rests with its other end against the threaded plug.
A partition is preferably arranged in the upper housing parallel to the membrane, which has a central opening in which the plunger is slidably guided Has leadership of the plunger, and there is a white tere mounting plate arranged at the upper end of the upper housing, on which the connecting terminals are mounted.
A hood can be placed on the upper end of the upper housing.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that the plunger has a T-shaped shape, the head resting against the membrane and forming a stop with the partition wall to limit the plunger movement.
A guide ring for the stem of the plunger can be formed on the underside of the microswitch mounting plate.
Further objects and advantages of the invention result from the following description of an exemplary embodiment in which reference is made to the accompanying drawing, which shows the exemplary embodiment in longitudinal section.
The housing of the embodiment of the vacuum switch according to the invention shown in the accompanying drawing consists of a base body 2 and an upper housing 1, which are connected to one another by welding, for example. A membrane 5 is clamped between the base body 2 and the upper housing 1, which divides the housing into a pressure medium chamber 13 located below the membrane and a switch part 14 located above the membrane.
At its lower end, the base body 2 has an external thread 12 with which the vacuum switch can be screwed into a connection sleeve of a pump suction line, not shown, of a container or the like. The base body 2 has an axial threaded hole 15. In this threaded debohrung 15 a threaded plug 3 is arranged, which either in the middle or - according to the illustrated embodiment - has lateral passage channels 11 through which the interior of the pressure vessel, not shown, is in communication with the pressure medium chamber 13 in the Ge housing.
A helical compression spring 4 is also arranged in the threaded bore 15, one end of which rests against the center of the underside of the membrane 5 and the other end against the threaded plug 3. The bias of the spring 4 can be regulated by screwing the threaded plug 3 more or less far into the threaded hole 15.
The upper housing 1 has above the membrane 5 on a partition 16 which is provided with a central, from stepped passage opening. A tappet 6, which is T-shaped in longitudinal section, rests with its head 18 against the upper side of the membrane 5. The shaft of the plunger 6 passes through the central opening of the partition wall 16 and protrudes up to a mounting plate 7 which is attached to the same in the upper housing on a corresponding inner shoulder. On the mounting plate 7, a known micro switch 8 is mounted. The mounting plate 7 has a central opening through which the actuating element of the microswitch 8 is connected to the plunger 6.
Furthermore, the mounting plate 7 can have a guide ring 19 on its underside, which surrounds and guides the end of the shaft of the plunger 6 which is at the top in the drawing.
A further mounting plate 17, on which the connecting terminals 9 are mounted, is attached to the upper end of the upper housing 1. Furthermore, a hood 10 is provided which can be pushed over the upper end of the housing 1 Oberge.
To use the vacuum switch according to the invention, it is screwed with its external thread 12 into a corresponding threaded sleeve of a pump suction line, a container or the like. By screwing in the threaded plug 3 to a greater or lesser extent, the bias of the compression spring 4 was previously regulated in such a way that the vacuum switch switches at the desired target vacuum. If this target negative pressure occurs in the line or the container, this negative pressure arises through the passage 11 hindruch in the pressure medium chamber 13 of the housing.
The result is that the membrane 5 is buckled against the action of the spring 4 downwards. The plunger 6 follows this downward movement of the membrane 5 and switches the microswitch B. With a correspondingly low preload of the spring 4, the vacuum switch according to the invention can be used for switching at extremely low vacuum pressures. On the other hand, due to the high bias of the compression spring 4, the vacuum switch can also be used for switching at higher negative pressures.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the details of the illustrated embodiment. If, for example, the membrane is sufficiently elastic in itself and, above all, if the vacuum switch should always switch at a certain vacuum, so this switching vacuum does not have to be changeable, the spring 4 can be dispensed with. The plunger 6; 18 is not absolutely necessary. The membrane can also actuate the switching element of the microswitch directly.
The plunger 6 with its wide head 18 protects the membrane from being pierced by the spring 4 or in the event of a high overpressure in the space 13.
