(Supplementary patent to main patent No. 437 447) Device on a multi-cell accumulator for filling a plurality of cells In the main patent, a device for filling an accumulator is described, which has a plurality of cells, with the aid of the device in all cells of the accumulator the same level is to be achieved, which is essential for the proper functioning of the accumulator.
In this device, a filling point designed as a cup-like container, which is provided with an overflow pipe arranged inside the container, is connected to the individual filling stoppers of the cells to be filled via a feed line with branching lines, the filling stopper screwed into each cell cover a space that seals the cells airtight has, into which the supply line opens and which is connected to the cell interior via openings in the stopper base, nud this area is traversed by a vent pipe, the lower edge of which coincides with the target liquid level within the cell,
and the total length of which is equal to or greater than the distance from the lower edge of the filling plug to the upper edge of the overflow pipe inside the cup-like filling container, which means that all of the columns of liquid that form in the supply line and in the vent pipe when the target level is reached are evenly filled Cells can be achieved to a predetermined nominal wetness.
If the flow rate is too low or fluctuating, there is still a certain possibility with this design of the plug that the air displaced from the cell does not escape through the ventilation pipe, but rather on the same path that the liquid flows to, which then overfills the cell could lead. For this reason, it is advantageous if the liquid flowing into the stopper has to pass through an annular siphon arranged in the stopper on its way into the cell in order to avoid the above-described escape of air on the inflow path.
The idea on which the present invention is based is therefore that the filling plug consists of a cup-shaped part closed at the top by a lid and a closed lower part directly adjoining this, the space of which with the cup-shaped part located above it through to a Annular surface evenly distributed openings and is also connected to the cell space by evenly distributed drainage openings on an annular surface, and into which an annular partition protrudes from the bottom plate of the cup-shaped part, which surrounds the first-mentioned openings,
and which is enclosed by a second coaxial partition wall rising from the bottom of the stopper, and is partially covered by it in the axial direction, where the lower part of the stopper forms a siphon, and that a transparent ventilation pipe is also arranged centrally within the filling stopper, the lower part of which Part is expanded bell-shaped, and its lower edge is at the level of the liquid target level line.
In order to be able to easily observe the filling level, the vent pipe can be extended upwards beyond the plug body, and an acid level indicator can be arranged in this transparent pipe with a movable acid level indicator at its lower end with a resting on the liquid inside the cell Float is provided.
Embodiments of the filling device according to the invention with a central supply pipe are described in more detail below with reference to the drawing, namely to illustrate: FIG. 1 a vertical section of a plug closing the cell with a siphon formed in the lower part.
FIG. 2 shows a vertical section according to FIG. 1 with an acid level indicator guided in the ventilation pipe and FIG. 3 shows a cross section through the lower part of the stopper along the line A-B in FIG. 2.
In Fig. 1, an embodiment of the filling plug is shown in which the plug 15 is designed as a cup-like part reaching up to an upper flat lid, which carries a screw thread de at the lower end. This stopper 15 has two sections with different diameters, and on the shoulder formed by there rests a base plate 16 which carries a ring 17 on the underside facing the cell.
The base plate 16 is provided with a central hole for the ventilation pipe 18 to pass through. At the edge of this bore and radially inside the downwardly extending ring 17 are the closing holes 19, through which the liquid reaches the lower space within the plug part 20.
The bottom 21 adjoining the lower plug part 20 has the drainage holes 23 and carries a ring 22 which is arranged radially inside these drainage holes and extends upwards, coaxially to the ring 17, which it carries with it in the axial direction over a short distance covered radial distance. The total cross section of the openings 23 is approximately 70% of that of the openings 19.
As a result, the outflow quantity into the cell is less than the possible inflow quantity in the siphons formed by the lower part of the stopper and the rings. On the bottom 21, the bell-like widened part 24 of the ventilation pipe adjoining the top as part 18 is attached. When the stopper is screwed in, the lower edge of the bell-shaped widened part coincides exactly with the target level line of the liquid in the cell.
Inside the ventilation pipe 18, a filling made of granular or fibrous material such as glass, ceramic or acid-resistant plastic is arranged on a perforated base in order to prevent liquid from being carried away by escaping air. The upper vent pipe part 16 rests against a cover 28 in which a bore for air outlet is located on the central axis.
According to FIG. 2, the ventilation pipe 18 can also be designed as a guide for an acid level indicator. In this case, the tube 18, which is made of transparent material, is extended beyond the cover 28 upwards, and closed at the top by a cover 25 with drilling tion to the air outlet.
The acid level indicator, which has a cruciform cross-section and is provided with a float bell 27 at the lower end, is movably located within the tube 18. A cross section through the plug along the line A -B in Fig. 2 is shown in Fig. 3, in which the cross section of the acid level indicator and the order of the drainage holes can be seen.
The mode of operation of this filling device corresponds to that described in the main patent, with the difference that the liquid, after it has flowed through the supply pipe 12 into the cup-shaped upper part of the stopper, then through the drainage holes 19 into the lower part of the stopper designed as a siphon, and only then from there through the holes 23 flows into the cell. The siphon prevents liquid from flowing into the cell only through some of the drainage openings when the flow rate is low or fluctuating,
while air escapes from the cell through another part. Since at the beginning of the filling a liquid seal of the siphon is always formed first, before the liquid flows on to the cell through the lower openings, the total cross section of which makes up only 70% of the openings 19, the air displaced from the cell can only pass through the air attached to the end of the plug , bell-like expansion of the vent pipe and escape through this upwards.
As soon as the liquid level in the cell reaches the lower edge of the bell-like extension 24 and this begins to immerse, a further increase in the liquid speed is prevented because the air still in the cell can no longer escape and a further increase in the pressure due to its counter pressure Prevents liquid. If, as in Fig. 2, the stopper is equipped with an acid level indicator, the achievement of the target level line is indicated by this.
