Fig. 2 eine Obenansicht, z. T. im Schnitt der Mischund Knetmaschine,
Fig. 3 eine Ansicht, z.
Fig. 3a einen Querschnitt entlang der Linie A-A in Fig. 3.
Continuously operating mixing and kneading machine Mixing and kneading machines produce a homogeneous plasticized mixture from a product, which is introduced in the form of powder, chips or granules, and from colorants and other additives. Regardless of whether the product is processed into granules after this process, calendered or otherwise further treated, vapor and / or gaseous components that occur in solution in the product must be freed and removed if the end product is to meet high quality standards, e.g. B. in plastics for record production and for electrical insulators.
The way in which these components to be separated off, called gases in the following, got into the product is unimportant for the problem at hand. The difficulties in removing the gases from the product arise from the toughness and elasticity of the same. These properties make it difficult for the gases to reach the surface, where only the gas bubbles can burst and release the gas.
A first possibility of achieving this would be to increase the temperature to lower the viscosity of the product in order to make it easier for the gas bubbles to reach the surface.
However, this is often not possible, as certain products would not tolerate a sufficient increase in temperature.
Another solution for releasing the gases is to subject the product to a sharp drop in pressure, which is done by means of a retaining ring. The product emerging in a thin layer between the retaining ring and the shaft probably has a large surface and thus the prospect of degassing; If, however, due to its elasticity or internal toughness, this thin layer immediately contracts again to form beads with a smaller surface, degassing becomes difficult.
Another difficulty then is to pull these beads back into the screw flights without them remaining in the degassing zone for a long time and clogging it or damaging the product e.g. B. takes too long exposure to temperature.
With the proposed mixing and kneading device not only these disadvantages are eliminated, but it also enables more effective degassing than is possible by decompressing the product alone.
The proposed mixing and kneading machine, which has a continuous rotating and reciprocating screw shaft arranged in a housing, is characterized in that it is placed in a filling zone with continuous screw flights, a first pressure build-up zone with interrupted screw flights and with kneading teeth arranged in the housing , a relaxation zone and a re-intake zone, both with continuous screw flights, and a second pressure build-up zone with interrupted screw flights and with kneading teeth arranged in the housing.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, namely show:
1 shows a vertical longitudinal section of the mixing and kneading machine,
Fig. 2 is a top view, e.g. Partly in the section of the mixing and kneading machine,
Fig. 3 is a view, e.g. T. in the section of the relaxation and reinstatement zone without wave and
FIG. 3a shows a cross section along the line A-A in FIG. 3.
A worm shaft 3 is mounted in a housing 4 and is driven by a drive element, not shown in detail, in such a way that it rotates and at the same time performs a reciprocating axial movement.
The housing 4 is provided with a filling opening 2 and a filling device 1 and furthermore has a degassing shaft 5. A vacuum connector 6 is attached in this degassing shaft, the upper end of the degassing shaft being formed by an airtight sight glass 7.
The screw shaft 3, which extends through the entire housing 4, is provided with continuous screw flights 13 in the area of the filling zone 8. In the area of the first pressure build-up zone 9, the screw flights 14 on the shaft 3 are interrupted, but additional kneading teeth 15 (FIG. 3) are arranged in the housing 4. The end of the first pressure build-up zone 9 is formed by a baffle ring 16 arranged in the housing 4, which causes a conical narrowing of the housing diameter.
In the area of the relaxation zone 10 and the re-entry zone 11, the shaft 3 again carries continuous screw flights 17 in order to be provided with interrupted screw flights 18 in the area of the second pressure build-up zone 12. The inner wall of the housing also has kneading teeth 19 in this second pressure build-up zone 12.
A discharge screw 20 is flanged to the outlet of the second pressure build-up zone 12, in which, if necessary, additional degassing can take place in the area of a degassing shaft 21 and a vacuum connection 22.
In the area of the re-entry zone 11, a section of the housing inner wall has the shape of a segment of a circular cylinder inner jacket, the associated circular cylinder axis being inclined with respect to the axis of the screw shaft 3 in the direction of the degassing shaft 5. The resulting edge of the segment is rounded towards the inner wall of the degassing shaft 5 with a radius decreasing to zero in the direction of rotation of the shaft 3.
The product to be processed comes in the form of powder, chips or granules or a mixture thereof through the filling device 1 and the filling opening 2 into the feed zone 8 of the mixing and kneading machine.
The continuous screw flights 13 of the shaft 3 in the area of this feed zone 8 bring the product continuously and without intermediate stops into the first pressure build-up zone 9, where it is intensively mixed and kneaded and brought to high pressure. This reduces the specific volume of the product. This can be taken into account by filling the gaps in the interrupted worm flights 14 with flight closing elements 23. The product finally arrives in the area of the dam ring 16 and flows in a thin layer between this and the shaft 3 through into the relaxation zone 10. As a result, the pressure suddenly drops, whereby the gaseous components dissolved in the product are separated out, rise up in the degassing nozzle and into the Vacuum nozzle 6 are sucked off.
However, the toughness of the product only allows some of the gases to escape from it.
The continuous screw flights 17 in the area of the relaxation zone 10 bring the product on without delay through the re-entry zone 11 into the second pressure build-up zone 12.
This zone 12 is designed in the same way as the first pressure build-up zone 9, the shaft 3 also carries interrupted screw flights 18 and the inner wall of the housing has kneading teeth 19.
The zone 12 close to the feed zone 11 is not yet completely filled with product. Here the same thing is repeatedly torn apart and pressed together again. This creates a very large product surface, which enables correspondingly strong further degassing. The escaped gas has the possibility of flowing back through the gaps between the product and in the screw flights 18 into the degassing shaft 5 against the conveying direction.
The movement of the shaft 3, which is composed of a rotary movement and an axial to and fro movement, greatly facilitates this gas return flow, and the design of the intake zone 11 as described ensures that the entire product flow is taken over without a build-up in the degassing shaft 5. The correct functioning of the re-entry zone can be observed through the sight glass.
In the further passage through the second pressure build-up zone 12, the gaps in the product close, pressure is applied again and leaves the machine in a slightly pulsating flow. In the directly flanged, only rotating discharge screw 20, the pressure is completely balanced. At the transition point into the discharge screw 20, where the product is torn apart again and freshly compressed, a further degassing can take place through the degassing nozzle 21 and the vacuum nozzle 22.
With the proposed device, a tough thermoplastic, which does not behave like a Newtonian liquid in the plastic flow state, could be used to expel volatile components continuously over a range of 200-1000 kg per hour without any disadvantages. The material as a powder with a low bulk density was placed in the feed hopper of a single-spindle continuous mixing and kneading machine with a reciprocating shaft, then the material was converted into the molten, viscous state by supplying heat and kneading work, dammed up under dlock formation, relaxed and volatile released, in order to be drawn back into the screw by the proposed device with a simultaneous renewed pressure build-up.
