Game of table balls The present invention relates to a game of table balls.
This game includes a board at one end of which is placed a figurine representing a boules player and which is fixed on a base rotating on itself, this figurine carrying, on the one hand, a maneuvering arm making it possible to control its orientation and, on the other hand, a launching ramp for the balls opposite which a manual launching pusher is provided.
An example of execution of the game which is the subject of the invention is described below with reference to the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 is a partial side elevational view, with cutaway, of this set, FIG. 2 is a top plan view thereof , FIG. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the ramp and of the pusher for throwing the balls, FIG. 4 is a vertical sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
The accompanying drawings show a particular example of the execution of the game according to the invention, in which the latter is more especially intended to be installed in a public games room.
This game comprises a horizontal plate 1 of rectangular shape, which is arranged inside a parallelepipedic box 2 supported by feet 3. This plate is located at an intermediate level of the height of the box 2 and thus delimits, inside the latter, a lower box 4. Furthermore, this box is closed at its upper part by a transparent wall 5.
The plate is mounted to tilt around a horizontal axis 6, disposed transversely between the walls of the box 2. The position of this axis is offset with respect to the transverse median axis of the plate 1. In these conditions, the latter Normally tends, under the effect of its own weight, to tilt in the opposite direction to the arrow Fl. However, its end then rests it on fixed stops 7, which keep it in a horizontal position.
The end of the plate is located at some distance from the corresponding end wall 2a of the box 2. In the interval is arranged a horizontal plate 8, which itself has a certain distance 9 from the end. corresponding of the board 1.
Above the middle of the plate 8 is arranged a figurine 10 representing a bowler. This figure is fixed on a base 11 capable of rotating on itself about a vertical axis 12. This base carries an operating arm 13, which passes through a horizontal slot 14 formed in the end wall 2a of the chest.
The figurine 10 also carries a ramp 15 for the launching of the balls 16 provided in this game. This ramp is arranged along the arm of the figurine 10, which is stretched forward and appears to launch a ball.
This ramp is integral with a horizontal socket 17, which can itself be made integral with the figurine 10. However, as in the example shown, this socket can also be made integral with the base 11 of this figurine, or with its arm. maneuvering 13, by means of a connecting bar 18. The rear end of this sleeve is engaged through a horizontal slot 19 of the corresponding end wall 2a of the box 2.
Inside this sleeve is slidably mounted a rod 20, intended to serve as a pusher for the launching of the ball 16 placed on the ramp 15. This rod comprises, at an intermediate point of its length, a shoulder 21, or an attached ring, on either side of which are arranged two springs 22 and 23 bearing on the corresponding ends of the sleeve 17. These two springs therefore act antagonistically on the pusher 20, the rear end of which carries a mana bou ton: work 20a.
On one of the side walls of the box 2 is fixed a chute 24, which is slightly inclined. This chute passes through the corresponding wall of the box, which at this point comprises an opening capable of allowing the passage of a ball placed on this chute. One of the ends of the latter is thus placed outside the box 2. Furthermore, the length of this chute is such that the free end of the launching ramp 15 carried by the figure 10 can be brought into contact with the corresponding end of this chute, suitably orienting this figurine.
In the lower box 4 is provided a magazine 25 intended to contain the balls 16 necessary for the practice of the game. These balls are held in place in this magazine by a movable member, for example a pivoting flap 26a controlled by a coin mechanism 26 This device, of any known type, is capable of functioning under the effect of the introduction of a coin and it can then control the erasure of the shutter 26a so as to allow the passage of the balls. in the drawer 27 outside the chest 2. The balls are thus made available to the players.
Inside the lower box 4 is also provided an inclined plane 28 capable of directing the balls 16 towards the receiving magazine 25 after they have been evacuated out of the plate 1. Below the end of this last, there is a lever 29 which is articulated around a horizontal axis 30. One end of this lever carries rollers 31 placed in contact with the lower surface of the plate 1. The opposite end of this lever protrudes outside the trunk through a vertical slot in the corresponding end wall 2a thereof.
Finally, under the gap 9 left free between the plate 8 and the corresponding end 1a of the plate 1, are arranged two gutters 32 inclined towards the middle of the box. These gutters leave a free passage 33 between them.
This game allows two or more players to play a game of boules with each other. For this purpose, the balls 16 can be of two different colors.
Furthermore, there is provided a ball 16a of smaller diameter intended to serve as a jack.
To play a game of boules, it is therefore necessary first of all to throw the jack onto the board 1, then each player in turn throws the boules which are assigned to him, while respecting the rules of a normal game of boules.
In order to launch a ball, it is advisable to place the latter on the outer end of the chute 24, after having properly oriented the figure 10, so that the ramp 15 is in contact with this chute. Thus the corresponding ball passes over this ramp. After which the player can orient the figurine 10 at will by maneuvering the arm 13 to launch the ball in the desired direction. This launch can take place either by direct pushing on the pusher 20, which then returns into place under the action of the spring 23, or again by pulling on this pusher.
In the latter case, the latter is pushed forward by the spring 22 as soon as it is released and it thus launches the ball 16 placed on the ramp 15. The operation of this pusher is therefore double-acting, which allows greater freedom of play.
In the event of an incorrect operation when a ball passes from the chute 24 to the launching ramp 15, the corresponding ball falls on the plate 8 or on the gutters 32. But in either case, it then escapes through the free passage 33, again to reach the distribution spool 27.
Furthermore, the retaining flap 26a of the mon nayer device can be designed to allow the ball 16a serving as a jack to pass freely, in the event that the latter is ejected out of the plate 1, beyond its front end lb and passes into the free gap existing between the latter and the corresponding end wall 2b of the box 2.
However, if one of the players throws one of the other 16 balls too strongly forward, it escapes by the same interval. But it is then lost for the player, because it is then retained by the flap 26a of the coin mechanism.
At the end of the game; the players can return the boules to the receiving magazine 25, by moving the tray 1 downwards in the direction of the arrow Fl. For this purpose, it suffices simply to press the end of the lever 29 in the direction of the arrow F2. The plate 1 then comes to occupy the position shown in phantom in FIG. 1, so that the balls roll towards the end 2b of the box and then fall on the inclined plane 28, which carries them to the receiving store 25.
Instead of being controlled by the lever 29, the tilting of the tray 1 can be produced by a lifting pusher mounted to slide in the vertical direction on one of the side walls of the box 2. The monkey device can be completely deleted in certain cases or be replaced by any other control mechanism, for example by a counter. In the latter case, the balls can be released by actuating this counter.
When it is put into operation, it activates a retaining flap which releases the balls and leaves them a free exit passage until the end of the game. This counter is controlled by a timer and, when it is stopped, it again locks the retaining flap in the closed position to prevent the balls from coming out.
In an alternative embodiment, the tray 1 may have a smaller width than the chest 1. Its longitudinal longitudinal edges then extend along the two lines le drawn in phantom in FIG. 2.
There is therefore a free gap between the longitudinal edges of this plate and the corresponding walls of the box. Thus, if a player throws a ball too strongly to the side, it escapes through the corresponding gap, so that it is lost to the player. Optionally, to avoid the bouncing of the balls at this location, an inclined canopy may be provided extending above each of these free passages.
As has already been indicated, the game according to the invention can be produced in a different way, so as to be able to serve as a child's toy or as a board game. In this case, the main organs of this game remain the same. However, the plate 1 is then constituted simply by the bottom of a box capable of being placed on a table or any other support. This box can possibly be foldable so as to facilitate its storage.
Of course, this box is open at its upper part, the transparent wall 5 being removed, so as to allow free access to the balls placed on the plate 1.
