Welding electrode for spot welding of precision components The invention relates to a welding electrode for spot welding of precision components with an electrode tip inserted in an electrode body.
When pressure welding and especially. Electrodes are used for spot welding of precision elements that have small geometric dimensions, such as the caps of fusible links, and of components where only a small area is welded or where access to the areas to be welded is very difficult used with special design.
So-called monolith electrodes, which are solid and consist entirely of one material, or welding electrodes, the electrode tips of which are made of a different material than the electrode body, are used for spot welding. In the case of the latter electrodes, the electrode tip, which in the majority of cases consists of a wear-resistant material, is assembled with the electrode body by threading or press-fitting.
Since the screw connections are voluminous, they are practically only used for large electrodes which are not suitable for spot welding precision elements.
For the spot welding of precision elements, therefore, only electrodes are used in which the electrode tip is pressed into a pre-drilled hole in the electrode body. The diameter of the electrical denspitze is determined by the mass of the elements to be assembled and the electrode tips turn by grinding brought to the required diameter. This electrode grinding is costly and time-consuming, since the electrode tips are in most cases made of tungsten and a relatively large amount of the expensive material has to be ground off.
In addition, for reasons of strength, the electrode body must accommodate a not insignificant and unused part of the electrode tip. Another disadvantage when using such welding electrodes is that it is necessary to keep a large amount of electrodes in stock because of the different dimensions of the electrode tips to be used.
In the welding electrode according to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided in that the electrode tip is designed as a rod-shaped insert electrode and the electrode body is made from a tubular outer sleeve,
there is a cylindrical carrier part closing the outer sleeve at one end and a clamping sleeve arranged coaxially inside the outer sleeve and fastened to the carrier part with clamping jaws for clamping the inserted electrode and means for clamping and releasing the clamping jaws are provided are.
An embodiment of a welding electrode according to the invention is shown in the drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows the welding electrode in a view and FIG. 2: shows in longitudinal section.
The welding electrode shown has an outer sleeve 1 in which a clamping sleeve 2 is inserted. The clamping sleeve 2 has jaws 5 at one end, which rest with their conical surface 6 on the inner edge 7 of the lower opening of the sleeve 1, and at the other end an external thread 11, with which they fit into a cylindrical,
the sleeve 1 at the upper end closing the carrier part 4! are screwed. The carrier ax 4 has a knurled ring 8, the diameter of which is greater than. he outer diameter of the sleeve 1.
The jaws 5 of the clamping sleeve 2 hold a rod-shaped insert electrode 3, one end of which is slightly. protrudes beyond the jaws 5 and the other end located inside the electrode sleeve butts against the end surface of an adjusting pin 11 which is screwed into the inner bore of the support part 4 of the sleeve 1.
The other end of the adjusting pin 11 protrudes beyond the knurled spigot ring 8 of the support part 4 and has a shape which enables it to be turned with the aid of a wrench or a screwdriver.
The jaws 5 of the clamping sleeve 2 have the shape of a double cone, one of these cones merging into the shaft of the clamping sleeve, which has an external thread at its end. If you screw on the external thread of the clamping sleeve 2, which is located inside the electrode sleeve 1, the carrier part 4 by turning the knurled support ring 8 supported at the upper end of the electrode sleeve 1, the clamping sleeve 2 is drawn into the electrode sleeve 1 and the clamping jaws 5, i, which is where the insert electrode 3 is located, are pressed together,
so that the insert electrode 3 is firmly clamped.
The operation of the welding electrode described above is very simple. With a slight tension in the jaws, at which a displacement of the insert electrode 3 is still possible, the projection of the electrode tip 3 a is set by turning the adjustment pin 12 using: a wrench or screwdriver. After determining the position of the insert electrode 3, the jaws are clamped by pressing against the outer sleeve 1 with the aid of the knurled support ring.
To the; Removing the insert electrode 3, the jaws 5 of the clamping sleeve 2 are released with the help of the knurled support ring 8 and by turning the adjusting pin 12, the insert electrode 3 of the electrode sleeve 1 is pushed out.
