Bracelet Clasp There is a wide variety of clasps or buckles intended to interconnect the opposite ends of a flat link, in particular, the two straps of a watch strap.
A very commonly used type of clasp is the cover clasp, in which one of the straps is attached to the bottom of the clasp while the second strap slides in this bottom, above or below the first strap. The cover, articulated on the edges of the bottom coming to fall back and close on the whole by maintaining, by an appropriate device, the second strap integral with the clasp.
In a first embodiment, the second strap has one end between the bottom and a plate which is hinged to the bottom at this end and carries a rib. When the cover, hinged at the other end, is folded down, the edge of the latter acting as a lever, presses on said plate, the rib of which strongly clamps the second strap against the bottom of the clasp.
In another embodiment, the second strap has beads which are positioned in the notches formed at the bottom of the clasp, the neck carrying around its axis a cam which, when the latter is folded down, presses. this second strap against the back precisely at the place where it presents a bead.
In other clasps, the end of the second strap has a transverse notch, while the bottom has, in its middle part, a transverse bead, a cam extending the cover around its articulation coming from, when closing. this, press on a smooth plate which presses the second strap against the bottom over almost the entire surface, this second strap must first be arranged so that one of its notches is in front of the bead of the background.
In the variants of this device, the cam acts by direct pressure on the end of the second strap, the latter then having to be particularly robust since the pressure is practically only exerted along a transverse straight segment. This end is generally, for this reason, made of metal.
In none of the preceding embodiments, is there a pre-fixing device preventing the second strap from escaping from the clasp before the latter has been operated.
The present invention proposes precisely to overcome the drawbacks which have just been mentioned.
It consequently relates to a clasp for a bracelet, comprising a bottom between the ends of the edges of which are fixed two bars, the first carrying a strand of the bracelet, the second, a cover hinged on it, the second strand of the bracelet exhibiting discontinuities. of thickness intended for its fixing and passing between the first strand and the base, characterized in that a curved flexible strip has, in its middle part, an inverse thickness discontinuity and is fixed by one of its ends to the base iron, and by the fact that the cover presents, in line with the discontinuity of the lamella, an extra thickness:
eur in the form of a dome, the discontinuity of said strip coming into engagement with one of those of the second strand, the two strands of the bracelet then being strongly clamped between the extra thickness of the lowered cover and said flattened strip against the bottom.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a particular embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a top plan view.
Fig. 2 is a section along II-II of FIG. 1, the clasp being in the open position.
Fig. 3 is also a sectional view along II-II of FIG. 1, the clasp being in the closed position. The clasp shown comprises a bottom 4 between the edges 45 of which is held, by the bar 11, the first strap 1. A flexible strip 41 is fixed by one of its ends to the bottom 4 by a fixing means 42 which can be, by example, screwing or welding. This strip has, in its middle part, a rib 43, the other end of this strip coming to rest elastically against the bottom 4.
The cover 3 is articulated at one of its ends by two ears 31 around the bar 32 crimped between the edges of the bottom. Said cover has, in the middle part of its internal face, the metal allowance 34.
In the open position of the clasp, as shown by the fila. 2, the strap 2 engages between the first strap and the rib 43 of the strip 41. As soon as the rib 43 meets one of the notches of the strap 2, the latter is held in place and cannot escape from it. even the clasp.
The cover 3 is then folded back and its end 33, curved in the form of a claw, is fixed elastically notch on the horns 45 of the edges of the back, thus closing the clasp.
The extra thickness 34 then presses the strap 1 against the strap 2 and presses the strip 41 against the bottom 4 as indicated by the fila. 3.
