Description

 la fig. 1 est une vue en perspective de cette forme d'exécution;

  Collapsible packaging for items
The present invention relates to a collapsible packaging for articles, in particular bottles.

This packaging can be constructed so as to include padding partitions between the adjacent bottles and so as to use a minimum quantity of material.

Packages of this type are generally known as tape packages. They provide adequate protection to cylinders under most practical conditions and are particularly suitable for saving the material from which they are constructed. The bands forming these packages do not constitute separations between adjacent bottles, except in localized regions where relatively narrow bands are disposed.

Other packages are known as full depth> y packages and are arranged to provide a complete partition structure over the entire height of the package. While these packages are relatively robust and provide adequate separation of the bottles, they require significant amounts of material.

A main object of the invention is to provide a packaging of the strip type comprising means for improving the separation between the adjacent bottles and thus improving the protection provided to the bottles without requiring additional material.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention:
 fig. 1 is a perspective view of this embodiment;
fig. 2 is a plan view of a blank from which this embodiment is formed, and
figs. 3, 4 and 5 are views showing successive folding operations of the blank.

The illustrated package comprises a side wall 1 having at its lower edge a sticky flap 2 foldably joined along a fold line 3. An end panel 4 is foldably joined at one end of the side wall. 1 along a fold line 5, while a similar end wall 6 is foldably joined to the other end of the side wall 1 along a fold line 7. A raised panel 9 is joined. foldably to the end wall 6 along a fold line 8 and a similar upright panel 10 is foldably joined to the end wall 4 along a fold line 11.

The handle of the package includes telescopic handle panels, one of which, 12, is foldably joined to the erect panel 9 along the fold line 8. Another handle panel 13 is foldably joined to the panel. upright 10 along the fold line 11 and two partition strips 14 and 15 are foldably joined to the handle panel 13 along fold lines 16 and 17. The partition strip 14 is foldably joined to the side wall 1 along a fold line 18, while the dividing strip 15 is foldably joined to the side wall 1 along a fold line 19.

The other side of the package comprises a side wall 20 at the end edges of which end panels 21 and 22 are foldably joined along fold lines 23 and 24 respectively. An erected panel 25 is foldably joined to the end panel 22 along a fold line 26, while an erected panel 27 is foldably joined to an end panel 21 along a line. folding 28.

A handle panel 29 is foldably joined to the upright panel 25 along the fold line 26. Likewise, a handle panel 30 is foldably joined to the upright panel 27 along the fold line 28. A divider 31 is foldably joined to the handle panel 30 along a fold line 32 and to the side wall 20 along a fold line 33. A similar divider band 34 is joined together. foldable to the handle panel 30 along a fold line 35 at one end and, at the other end, this strip 34 is foldably joined to the side wall 20 along a fold line 36.

For the purpose of making the package portable, the handle panel 13 has two hand grip openings 37 and 38 and the handle panel 30 has two similar openings 39 and 40. When the package is assembled, it is understood that the handle panels 13 and 30 are folded parallel to each other along a center fold line 41, so that the engagement openings 39 and 40 are aligned with the engagement openings 37 and 38. De Similarly, the handle panel 12 has two grip openings 42 and 43, while the handle panel 29 has two similar openings 44 and 45. Thus, when the panels 12 and 29 are folded flat in contact face to face along of the fold line 46, the openings 42 and 44 are made to coincide with each other and with the openings 39 and 37.

Likewise, the openings 43 and 45 are brought into coincidence with one another and with the openings 38 and 40.

The bottom of the packaging 47 is characterized by a median fold line 48, a median partition 49 and two transverse separation tabs 50 and 51.

The middle partition 49 comprises bands 52 and 53 at its ends. The band 52 is joined in a foldable manner to the bottom 47 along a fold line 54 and to the partition 49 along a line 55. Likewise, the strip 53 is foldably joined to the bottom 47 along a fold line 56 and to the middle wall along a fold line 57. Two locking notches 58 and 59 are cut in the wall 49. The transverse tab 51 is foldably joined to the bottom 47 along a fold line 59 and has a notch 60. Likewise, the transverse tab 50 is foldably joined to the bottom 47 along a fold line e 61 and has a notch 62.

In addition, the tabs 50 and 51 have middle fold lines 63 and 64, respectively, which constitute extensions or parts of the middle fold line 48 in the bottom 47.

In order to strengthen the structure of the bottom, a wall tab 65 is cut from the bottom 47 and foldably joined to the latter along a fold line 66 which coincides with the fold line 48 of the bottom 47.

To form the packaging shown in FIG. 1 from the blank of FIG. 2, glue is applied in the areas indicated in dotted lines in FIG. 2. After this application of glue, the partition 49 is tilted into the position shown in FIG. 3 by simply folding the strips 52 and 53 up and to the right along the fold lines 54 and 56, respectively, so that the strips are attached to the immediately adjacent glued surfaces. During this folding, the middle part of the middle partition 49 is fixed to the tab 65.

During folding of the partition 49, the end panels 6 and 22 are folded upwards and over the side walls 20 and 1. This folding forces the panels 29 and 12 to overlap vertically and come into contact with each other face to face with each other. the handle panels 30 and 13, and also causes the adjacent end edges of the upright panels 25 and 9 to attach to the adjacent end edges of the handle panels 29 and 12.

To complete the folding operations so as to pass from the partially folded blank of FIG. 3 to the blank of FIG. 4, the upright panels 27 and 10 are folded upwards and over the side walls 21 and 4 and the handle panels 30 and 13 along fold lines 28 and 11. These panels appear as shown in FIG. 4. Simultaneously, the left part of the bottom 47 is folded upward and to the right along the center fold line 48. It is evident that this folding forces the bands 52 and 53 to swing to the right along their sides. fold lines -55 and 57 which generally coincide with the immediately adjacent ends of the fold line 48. The blank then takes the configuration shown in FIG. 4.

In order to completely form the package, glue is applied in the dotted areas in fig. 4. The side wall 1, the end walls 4 and 9, the glue flap 2, the upright panels 10 and 6 and the handle panels 12 and 13 are then tilted up and to the left along the fold lines. medians 41 and 46.

The handle panel 12 is thus fixed face to face to the handle panel 29 while the erect panel 10 is glued to the erected panel 27, and the erected panel 6 is glued to the erected panel 25. Simultaneously, the sticky flap 2 is fixed to the. edge of the bottom 47 and the support is completely folded as shown in FIG. 5.

In order to unfold the folded packaging shown in FIG. 5 in the state shown in FIG. 1, it suffices simply to press inwardly the end walls 4 and 21 while exerting pressure in the opposite direction on the end edges of the side walls 1 and 20. This operation is well known in the art.

The middle partition 49 (fig. 1) is arranged vertically and its notch 59 is arranged to engage the notch 60 in the transverse tab 51. Likewise, the notch 59 in the partition 49 engages the notch 62 of the tab 50. .

To form the bottom structure of the support comprising the partition 49 and the tabs 50 and 51, it is necessary to fold the partition 49 and the tabs 50 and 51 in positions perpendicular to the base 47. This folding causes the tab 65 to bend. in a normal position with respect to the bottom 47 by the fact that this tab is strongly fixed to one side of the partition 49.

When the packaging is unfolded as described above and has the appearance shown in fig. 1, it is evident that the transverse tab 51 is disposed immediately below the separation strips 14 and 31. Thus, the end bottles mounted in the package and disposed immediately near the end walls 4 and 21 are separated from the ends. bottles in the middle of each side of the handle in two places, either by the bands 14 and 51 which constitute an upper separation structure and or by the transverse tab 51 which constitutes a lower separation structure. Likewise, the transverse tab 50 is placed directly below the strips 15 and 34 and cooperates with them to form upper and lower separation structures.

Thus, one obtains separation means equivalent to the separation means of the full depth type. This result is obviously obtained with a minimum of material.

It emerges from fig. 1 and 2 that when the strips 14 and 15 are cut from the handle panel 13 they leave significant surfaces exposed along their lower edges. It is also evident that these exposed surfaces are in fact filled by the lower marginal part of the panel 12 as indicated by the arrows 70 and 71. Thus, the surfaces 70 and 71 of the handle immediately above the middle partition 49 constitute separation means for the bottles on one side of the handle of the bottles on the other side of this handle.

Similar surfaces in panel 29 coincide with the surfaces of panel 30 from which strips 31 and 34 are cut. Thus, a structure equivalent to the full depth type is obtained on all sides of the bottles.

Not only does the packaging described provide protection to the bottles equivalent to that provided by a full-depth packaging, but also this result is obtained without altering the folding capacity of the packaging.

For example, to fold the packaging, it suffices simply to fold the transverse tabs 50 and 51 in the plane of the bottom 47 from which they are cut and then to tilt the partition tab 41 in the opposite direction of the movement of the needles d 'watch (fig. 1) around the fold lines 57 and 55 until it comes into face-to-face contact with the bottom 47, simultaneously with the outward folding movement of the end panels 4 and 21 around the fold lines 5 and 23 and the inward folding movement of the end panels 6 and 22 around the fold lines 7 and 24. Then, the package is in the folded state shown in fig. 5.

The divider structure described also serves as an additional means for maintaining the package in the unfolded position of FIG. 1. For example, it is obvious that the transverse separation tabs 50 and 51 prevent the folding out of the bottom 47 by the fact that this folding causes the tabs 50 and 51 to tighten the middle partition 49 strongly. This stabilizing effect greatly increases the stability of the package when unfolded and before it is loaded with bottles.
