Fig. 1). Fig. 3).
Device on road vehicles for steering the axles of semitrailers The present invention relates to a device on road vehicles for steering the axles of semitrailers.
In known devices of this type, the steering movement of the towing vehicle is transmitted to the axles of the semi-trailer by means of complicated lever and steering systems. These have the disadvantage that the forces acting in the rods grow very strongly with larger deflections and can even cause bending, and that they greatly limit the size of the deflection.
To avoid these deficiencies, the device according to the invention has a saddle plate to be brought into engagement with a coupling plate of the motor vehicle, on which the semi-trailer is supported via a ball-and-socket ring and on which a sprocket is arranged, which crossed rods with a chain and between them Chain wheel is coupled, the rotation of which causes a deflection of at least one axle of the semi-trailer.
In the following an embodiment of the invention He will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The drawing shows: FIG. 1 a schematic representation of the vehicle provided with the steering device, FIG. 2 the steering device in vertical section and FIG. 3 the crossing point of the transmission elements of the steering device.
With 1 the motor vehicle is generally referred to with 2 of the semitrailer of the vehicle.
On the motor vehicle 1 is a pivotable about a transverse axis round coupling plate 3 is arranged in the usual manner. However, this plate is not rotatable with respect to a vertical axis of the carriage. It is provided with a sector-shaped cutout. When coupling the semi-trailer 2, the king pin 6 firmly connected to the saddle plate 4 is retracted into the sector-shaped cutout of the coupling plate 3 and locked in the center of the same as usual.
The stops 5 direct the fifth wheel plate 4 into a certain position with respect to the coupling plate 3 and hold these plates firmly in this mutual position during operation of the coupled vehicles, so that no friction or wear can occur between them. The semi-trailer 2 is supported on the fifth wheel plate 4 via a ball joint ring 7.
A bearing bush 8 is fixedly arranged on the plate 4 coaxially to the king pin 6. In this a second sleeve 9 is rotatable, with which a sprocket 10 is firmly connected ver. The two bushings 8 and 9 can be locked against one another by the locking pin 11 so that the deflections of the motor vehicle 1 with respect to the semi-trailer 2 are transmitted to the sprocket 10. The pin 11 can be done by hand or mechanically, e.g. B. be moved on or off by electro-pneumatic means.
The rear part of the semi-trailer is supported on the steerable rear axle 13 by means of a ball bearing ring 12. The sprocket 14, by means of which the steering movements are transmitted to the rear axle 13, is coaxial with the turntable 12 and firmly connected to the rotatable part.
Roller chains 15 are looped around the chain wheels 10 and 14 (see FIG. 1). The ends of these chains are crossed together by means of rods 16 and 17, for example rectangular hollow tubes (see FIG. 3). At the crossing point, the rod 17 is interrupted and replaced by two flat bars 18, between which the rod 16 passes.
When the locking pin 11 is engaged, the deflections of the motor vehicle 1 are transmitted via the sprocket 10, the chains 15 and the rods 16 and 17 with the opposite direction of rotation, but with all deflections always exactly proportional to the sprocket 14 and the rear axle 13, which means Even in the tightest of bends, the wheels run true to the track, optimum driving safety and minimum tire wear are guaranteed.
The steering device described with chains and with a saddle plate mounted on a ball bearing ring allows steering of the tractor up to 90 and above, which is especially important for maneuvering in confined spaces without excessive forces occurring in the steering mechanism.
In order to orient the driver about the size of the steering angle, two limit contacts 19 are arranged on the flatbed of the semi-trailer which, if the steering angle should not be exceeded, touch a contact 20 arranged in the longitudinal center plane of the towing vehicle and thus one in Actuate the signaling device 21 mounted in the driver's cab.
If the semi-trailer has multiple axles, the gear 14 is attached to a steering column from which the steering movement is transmitted to the individual axles via levers.
It can be an advantage to be able to drive the vehicle with a rigid axle. For this purpose, the locking pin 11 is disengaged so that the deflections of the motor vehicle 1 are not carried over to the sprocket 10. By means of the bolt 22 - the axis 13 must be fixed in its neutral position.
Furthermore, when the steering is engaged, the torques occurring at the various turning points of the steering system largely prevent the semitrailer from rolling behind the towing vehicle on black ice or slippery road surfaces.
If the moving train does somehow skid, every compensating steering movement (counter-steering) of the tractor unit is also immediately transferred to the chassis of the semi-trailer, which can also stabilize the driving behavior more quickly.
