Device for checking the knots made by the tying device of a cross-winding winder
It is well known that each time that on a cross-winding winder it is a question of tying the end of the wire of a new spindle to be unwound, at the end of the wire of the spool to be wound up, or during each breakage. thread to be wound up, the winding machine's tying device is switched on.
This tying device, usually mounted on an arm capable of tilting in a vertical plane and which, to perform a knotting, approaches the threads to be tied, produces knots which are not always of the same size or whose ends of the thread are 'are not always the same length. This may be due, for example, to the fact that dust has accumulated on the thread, that small pieces of thread have remained in the tying device, or a malfunction of the tying device so that the ends of the wires are not cut to the same length or are not subjected to the required tension.
The subsequent use of threads which are thus poorly knotted in weaving may result in the production of inferior fabrics.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and the device which is the subject thereof is characterized in that it comprises a control means capable of electronically checking the size of the knots, a cutting tool controlled by said means of controls and cuts the tied thread as soon as the knot size exceeds a predetermined value, a guide means capable of guiding the tied thread in the electronic control means as well as under said cutting tool, a device capable of holding the tied thread for a determined time in the electronic control means and under the cutting tool, and finally a cleaning device capable of ridding said control means of all dust.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of part of a cross-winding winder, on which the device is applied.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of this device.
Fig. 3 is a plan view.
Fig. 4 is a front view.
Fig. 5 is a side view along the arrow P of the
Fig. 3, where the device is in the particular position where the wire is guided in the control means.
Figs. 6 and 7 show the same view as that of FIG. 5, but where the device is respectively in the checking and withdrawing positions.
In these figures we see the tying device 1 which is attached to the rocking arm 2. A carrier plate 3 is attached to the tying device 1 and an electronic control means 5, known per se, is mounted on said plate at the bottom. means of an angle 4. This control means comprises electronic equipment, for example an electric cell of which is provided in the passage 6 of said means. In this same passage 6 of the control means 5 there is also provided a cutting tool 7. In FIG. 3, the control zone by 8 and the cutting zone by 9 are shown in broken lines.
One end of a flexible pipe 10 is connected to passage 6, the other end of which is connected to a source of compressed air (not shown). This flexible pipe 10 comprises a valve (not shown) which automatically releases the air intake at well determined times. Two guide plates 11-12 are mounted on the control means 5. Each guide plate has a V-shaped cutout, 13 and 14 respectively, which lead to slots, respectively 15-16. The guide plates have been mounted in such a way that said slots 15-16 extend to behind the front face of the control means 5. A finger 17 is fixed on the base plate 3 and has a notch 18 with rounding 19.
Said finger is fixed in such a way that the posterior part of the slots 15-16 determines, together with the anterior rising part of the notch 18 of the finger, a space in which the tied thread is guided and held in order to be controlled. .
When the tying device 1 has to tie a knot, the threads to be connected A-B are at a standstill as shown in fig. 1. The rocking arm 2 advances and the upper wire A is guided along the upper sloping edge of the V-shaped cutouts 13-14 of the guide plates 11-12 to the slots 15-16, while the wire lower B is pushed back by the lower part of said plates 11-12 (fig. 5). When, as a result of the continuation of the tilting movement of the arm 2, the upper thread A has been guided to the bottom of the slots 15-16 of the plates 11-12, it will fall into the notch 18 of the finger 17 and will be therefore kept in place in the respective control and cutting zones 8-9 of the control means - 5 (fig. 6).
Then the knot C is made in the way well known in the device to be tied 1. After the ends of the threads have been cut, the winding is resumed, so that it follows that the knot which has just been goes through the control zone 8. When the knot is good, the thread will continue its route without more; on the other hand, if it is bad, the cutting tool 7 will be influenced in such a way by the electronic control means 5 that it will cut the thread, so that the winding of the thread stops immediately. As is well known, the ends of the thread to be tied will again be grasped and the tying device 1 will re-tie as previously described, after which the loosely tied ends of the threads A and B will be cut off by the cutting devices of the device. of knotting. The winding is then resumed while a new check is also carried out.
After the knot has been admitted as good, the arm 2 withdraws, so that the part of the upper thread A can slip out of the notch 18 along the rounding 19 (fig. 7), while the thread winding continues.
After each knot check, the valve in the flexible pipe 10 will be opened, so that the passage 6 of the checking means 5 will be cleaned of all dust and thread ends by a jet of compressed air.
