Casting plant for flat or semicircular stereotype plates The invention relates to a casting plant for flat or semicircular stereotype plates, with a melting pot for the liquid metal.
For casting flat or semicircular stereotype plates, it is known that a three-component alloy consisting of lead, tin and antimony is used, to which high demands are made with regard to the correct composition with regard to a good cast product. However, the various alloy components are attacked to varying degrees by the oxygen in the air. As is well known, tin oxidizes more easily than lead under the influence of air.
To reduce the oxidation of the expensive tin, one is therefore forced to work with the lowest possible metal temperatures. In doing so, it cannot be prevented that the metal level becomes colder than the rest of the kettle contents and assumes temperatures at which antimony is excreted in solid crystals and finally skimmed off with the dross. This segregation of the alloy is particularly encouraged when the metal is left to its own devices, i.e. H. makes no movement. As a result of the segregation, the specifically heavier lead collects at the bottom of the boiler. Since the metal is removed from almost all foundries to cast the plates, incorrect castings cannot be avoided.
Attempts have already been made to remedy this deficiency by installing agitators. However, these usually only have a local effect and must have a relatively high speed, which creates harmful eddy formation.
In practice, it cannot be prevented that the blades of the agitators emerge from the metal surface when the metal level has fallen and air is swirled into the melt. Furthermore, devices are known in which slowly rising and falling plate-shaped blades should avoid the formation of eddies from an agitator, but even with these, when the metal level falls, the blades over the surface and cause harmful air turbulence. To achieve this upward and downward movement, more effort is required.
According to the invention, these disadvantages can be remedied by arranging a circulation pump in the melting tank.
The metal is expediently allowed to flow out through a correspondingly shaped nozzle. By changing the position of the nozzle with the help of a float, the mixed jet can be easily adapted to the respective metal level in the boiler, so that an oxide-forming tearing of the metal mirror is prevented, but the metal mirror is kept in such a movement that it cools down and that already The separation of the upper metal layers described is avoided.
It is particularly advantageous for the circulation pump to be used at the same time to convey the metal into the casting mold. It is only necessary that the circulation is interrupted by a switchover valve during the short period of filling the casting mold and compressing the casting.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a melting kettle with a circulating pump, and FIGS. 2 and 3 show the casting plant with a switchable pump.
In the melting kettle 1 of a foundry not shown in detail, a circulating pump 2 is arranged below the metal level, which has a nozzle-like mouthpiece 3 on the pressure stub zen. The latter is articulated to the pump, its position, i.e. H. the outflow direction of the melt from the pump is changed automatically by a float 4 connected to it via a linkage 5. The direction of the jet is expediently such that tearing open the surface of the vessel contents is avoided.
In FIGS. 2 and 3 an embodiment is shown in which the circulating pump 2 is used at the same time to convey the metal into the casting mold. For this purpose, a switch valve 9 is provided on the pressure port of the pump, which has a connection to the line 7, to the casting mold and a nozzle 8 gene.
In front of the nozzle 8, a float-controlled baffle 3 is pivotally arranged, with the help of which the circulating jet supported by the pump is directed. During the rest periods and pauses in pouring, the chuck 9 takes the position according to FIG. 2, so that the metal is circulated through the nozzle. During the short time of pouring a plate, on the other hand, the chick 9 is automatically brought into the position shown in FIG.
The invention is not limited to metal melting kettles for stereotype plates, but is also suitable for other metal melting furnaces. If necessary, the circulation pump can also be used together in connection with a floating cover in the melting vessel.
