Process for the preparation of reactive aromatic compounds The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of reactive aromatic compounds which contain at least one group of the formula
EMI0001.0005
contain, in which R1 is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical and R2 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical and in which the radical
EMI0001.0010
contains at least one mobile halogen atom. The method according to the invention is thereby achieved.
indicates that compounds which have exchangeable hydrogen atoms bonded to aromatic nuclei have in the presence of an acidic condensing agent with at least 1 mol of a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0014
wherein Y is one of the groups -CN or -CO-N'Hz, and converts at least 0.5 mol of a dihalodimethyl ether. The procedure. is suitable for all classes of dyes which contain at least one exchangeable hydrogen atom bound to an aromatic core.
If the starting substances used are aromatic compounds which are insoluble in water, they can be converted by subsequent sulfonation and / or by simultaneous or subsequent sulfation if the aromatic compound and / or the group of formula (II) is an alcoholic primary or secondary hydroxyl group carries, converted into water-soluble dyes who the.
It is also possible to use an optionally present hydroxyl group in the reaction medium itself, in the phosphoric acid ester or, preferably after isolation of the reaction product, in a sulfonic acid ester, eg. B. alkane, arene or dialkylamino sulfonic acid ester to be transferred.
As anthraquinone compounds with at least one exchangeable hydrogen atom, which are particularly suitable for the preparation of the dyes according to the invention, are, for example: 1 amino-4-arylamino-anthraquinones, 1-amino-2-methyl-4-arylamino- anthraquinones, 1-amino-2-halogen-4-arylamino-anthraquinones, 1-amino-2-alkoxy-4-arylamino-anthraquinones, 1-amino-2-aryloxy-4-hydroxy-anthraquinones, 1-amino-4- arylamino-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acids, 1,4-diamino-2-aryloxy-anthraquinones,

The aryl radicals which are suitable for both the azo and the anthracinone dyes are z.
B. the following: phenyl, 2-, 3- and 4-methylphenyl; 2-, 3- and 4-methoxy- or ethoxyphenyl; 2,3- or 3,4-tetramethylene phenyl; 2,4- and 2,5- and 2,6-dimethylphenyl; 2-methyl-4-isopropyl- and -4-n-butylphenyl; 2,4- and 2,5-dimethoxy- and diethoxyphenyl, respectively; 2-methoxy- or 2-ethoxy-5-methylphenyl;
2-methyl-4- or -5-methoxy- or ethoxyphenyl; 2 methoxy-4-methylphenyl; 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl; 2,4-dimethyl-6-ethylphenyl; 2,4-diethyl 6-methylphenyl; 2,6-dimethyl-6-n-butylphenyl; 4-chloro-2,5-dimethoxy- or diethoxyphenyl; 4-chloro-2 methoxy-5-methylphenyl; 2-chloro- or 2-bromo-4,6-dimethylphenyl;
2-bromo 6-methyl-4-ethyl- or -4-n-butylphenyl; 2,3,5,6-tetramethylphenyl and 2- and 4-methoxynaphthyl.
The intermediate products to be used according to the invention must contain at least one exchangeable hydrogen atom bonded to an aromatic, unsulfonated, one or more positive, ie nucleophilic, substituent-bearing core.
Low molecular weight alkyl groups, cycloalkyl groups, hydroxyl and ether groups, preferably low molecular weight alkoxy groups and a pithy aryloxy group are preferred as positive substituents.
The suitable compounds of formula (HI) are the nitriles or the acid amides of aliphatic a hydroxy acids, which carry min least one mobile halogen atom, such as. B.
1-Hydroxy-2-bromo- or -2-chloro-2-propen-1-carboxylic acid, a-hydroxy ss, y-dibromo or -dichlorobutyric acid, a-hydroxy-ss, ss, y-tribromo or -trichlorobutter- acid, α-hydroxy-γ-bromo- or -y-chlorobutyric acid, 1-hydroxy-2-bromo- or -2-chloro-2-butene-1-carboxylic acid, 1-hydroxy-2,3-dibromo- or -2 ,
3-dichlorobutane-1-carboxylic acid, 1-hydroxy-2,2,3 tribromo- or trichlorobutane-1-carboxylic acid, 1-hydroxy-3-bromo- or -chlorobutane 1-carboxylic acid and α-hydroxy-ss, γ-dibromo or dichloro-y-phenyl butyric acid.
Symmetrical dihalodimethyl ethers are dibromodimethyl ethers and, preferably, dichlorodimethyl ethers.
The reaction is carried out in an acidic medium, e.g. B. sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid with a concentration of 70-100% can serve as a solvent and condensation agent. To avoid sulfonations and other side reactions and to activate or regulate the conversion, additions of acetic acid or water prove to be beneficial, depending on the reactants. The reaction can preferably be carried out at temperatures between 0 and 60 ° C.
Depending on the temperature and reaction partner, the conversion takes a few minutes to several days.
The sulfation of the products which carry a hydroxyl group occurs at a sulfuric acid concentration of 93%, preferably 95-98%, and at temperatures of about 0 to 25 ° C., preferably: 15-25 '/ B> C, while for the sulfonation (introduction of -SO.H groups directly bonded to an aromatic nucleus) stricter conditions, e.g.
B. 98-100% sulfuric acid or oleum with up to about 20% free S03 and temperatures from 10 to. 25 C, preferably about 20 C, must be applied.
The sulfated dyes have good solubility in water, even if they do not contain any real sulfonic acid group. This is particularly important in cases where dyes are used as starting materials which, for. B. hold one or more tetramethylphenyl groups with only one aromatically bound exchangeable hydrogen atom.
The dyes obtained are suitable for dyeing leather, for dyeing, padding and printing fibers of animal origin, e.g. B. wool, silk, synthetic polyamide fibers, e.g. B. polyamide 6 or 66, of CeDlulose fibers, z. B. cotton, linen and made of fibers, regenerated cellulose, e.g. B. Viscosereyon, Kupferreyon, rayon, and mixtures and / or structures made of these fibers.
The optimal application conditions vary depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used.
Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers can be dyed and printed or fixed in. Acid, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, etc. You can also in the presence of leveling agents such.
B. polyoxäthyherten fatty amines or mixtures thereof with alkyl polyglycol ethers, color acetic acid to neutral and at the end of the coloration the bath by adding small amounts of an alkaline agent, eg. B. ammonia, sodium bicarbonate or carbonate, or compounds which are alkaline in the heat, z. B. hexamethylenetetramine, urea, blunt to a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction.
This is followed by thorough rinsing and, if necessary, acidified with a little acetic acid. The dyeings and prints obtained generally have good light, washing, fulling, water, perspiration, rubbing and dry cleaning fastness properties. The dyeing, padding and printing or fixing of the dyes on cellulose fibers is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium, e.g. . B. in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, sodium metasilicate, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc.
To avoid reduction phenomena, mild oxidizing agents, such as sodium 1-nitrobenzene-3-sulfonic acid, are often advantageously added when the fibers are being dyed, padded or printed. In the case of cellulose fibers, too, the dyes are usually fixed in the heat.
The dyeings and prints on cellulose fibers are particularly notable for their excellent wet fastness properties. These are based on the formation of a chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often take. not all of the dye takes part in the chemical reaction with the fiber. The proportion of the unreacted dye is removed from the fiber in these cases by suitable operations, such as rinsing and / or soaps. If necessary, using higher Tempe temperatures, with synthetic detergents such.
B. alkylarylsulfonates, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl polyglycol ether sulfate, optionally carboxymethylated alkyl poly glycol ethers and mono- and dialkylphenyl poly glycol ethers, are used. In general, dyeings and prints with good fastness properties to light, washing, water, perspiration, rubbing and dry cleaning are obtained.
The parts given in the examples are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. <I> Example 1 </I> At a temperature of 20, 4.7 parts of 1,4-di- (2 ', 4', 6'-trimethylphenylamino) anthraquinone are dissolved in 74 parts of 96% strength sulfuric acid and added Stirring at a temperature of 10-15 3.7 parts of α-hydroxy-β, γ-dichloro valeronitrile (obtained by condensation of α, β-dichlorobutyraldehyde and hydrocyanic acid). Then one drips in 20 minutes at the same temperature 1,
2 parts dichlorodimethyl ether. The mixture is stirred for a further 24 hours at 5-10. Then 30 parts of 60% oleum are added at 0-5 and the mixture is allowed to continue running for 16 hours. The mixture is poured onto a 13% sodium chloride solution. The precipitated dye is filtered off with suction, suspended in 10% strength sodium chloride solution, neutralized to a pH of 7, again filtered off with suction and dried.
The dye obtained dyes wool in blue shades of very good wash fastness and acidic and alkaline fulling fastness.
Dyeing instructions: 2 parts of the dye described above, 0.5 part of an oleyl polyglycol ether, 0.8 part of an oxethylated fatty amine and 2 parts of 80% acetic acid are dissolved in 4000 parts of water. 100 parts of pre-wetted wool are brought into this dye liquor at 50. The bath is heated to 100 in the course of 30 minutes and held at this temperature for 1 hour.
The dyed wool is taken out of the bath, rinsed ge with water and dried. A blue, light and wet-fast coloration is obtained. If 3-5 parts of ammonia are added to the dyebath at the end of the dyeing process and the temperature is kept at 90-95 for a further 20-30 minutes, dyeings that are somewhat more wet-fast are obtained.
<I> Example 2 </I> At a temperature of 0-5, 4.6 parts of 1-amino 4- (2 ', 4', 6'-trimethylphenylamino) anthraquinone-2rsu1 are dissolved in 74 parts of 96% strength sulfuric acid - sodium fonsate. At the same temperature, 2.2 parts of the condensation product of 1 mol of a, a, β-trichlorobutyraldehyde and 1 mol of hydrocyanic acid are added to the solution, and 1.2 parts of dichloro dimethyl ether are added dropwise. The mixture is stirred for 24 hours at 0-5 and poured into a 13% sodium chloride solution.
The precipitated dye is filtered off with suction, suspended in 10% strength sodium chloride solution, neutralized to a pH of 7, again filtered off with suction and dried. The dye obtained dyes wool in blue shades of very good washfastness and acidic and alkaline fulling fastness.
