Conveyor device for packaging machines
The invention relates to a conveyor device for packaging machines which is provided with an endlessly rotating conveyor.
It is known to design the conveying means in such machines as conveyor chains or belts and to provide them with drivers arranged at a spacing from the width of the pack (FIG. 1>. However, such an arrangement has the disadvantage that e.g. a conveyor chain around the deflecting wheels and the drivers gape apart and therefore the packs located between them can no longer be guided properly, so that their cross-section can change, especially with larger pack formats.
One has therefore already often switched to providing the conveying means with cups with at least three walls, so that the pack is held on three sides over the entire conveying path and thus remains absolutely unchanged in its cross-section (FIG. 2). However, such an embodiment has the disadvantage that not only inserting the empty packs, which are usually delivered in the form of folding boxes, into the take-away cups, but also pushing the finished packs out of these cups is cumbersome, since the finished packs are only removed from the cups perpendicular to the conveying direction can be. This significantly reduces the performance of the machine.
The invention has set itself the task of utilizing the advantages of the known conveyor device without, however, having to accept the disadvantages of the same.
For this purpose, the invention provides for the aforementioned conveying device to be designed in such a way that, in the case of the endlessly revolving conveyor chain used, on which carriers are arranged at regular intervals, these carriers! are formed from two legs at right angles to one another in the form of an angle, so that on straight conveyor sections, two successive carriers combine to form a conveyor cup with three side walls at right angles to one another, in that two side walls of one carrier that are at right angles to one another go through one leg of the driver preceding this driver in the conveying direction can be completed as a third side wall.
This conveying device results in perfect guidance of the packs in the conveying cups also on the circulation circuit, since there the packs are pressed into the angle of the driver by the start-up resistance and thus held at right angles. On the other hand, since the cups formed by the drivers inevitably open at the rear deflecting wheel, the packs can be pushed out of the conveyor without changing direction, so that there is no limitation in performance.
The invention is explained below for two exemplary embodiments with reference to schematic drawings in broken representation.
It shows
1 and 2 plan views of two known embodiments of conveying devices for packaging machines,
3 shows the plan view of a conveyor device according to the invention for small and medium-sized packages, and FIG
4 shows the plan view of a conveyor device according to the invention for large package formats.
The conveyor device shown in Fig. 3 contains a conveyor chain 1, which can also be designed as a belt, on which carriers 2 are arranged at regular intervals, as well as two deflection wheels or drums 3 and 4. The carriers 2 are designed as right-angled elbows. On the leg of these angle pieces 2 arranged in the conveying direction, a further angle 5 is attached, preferably adjustable. With the help of this additional angle 5, the conveyor can be converted to different pack formats within certain limits.
As can be seen from FIG. 3, the two legs form each driver
2 with the rear side of the leg of the respective preceding carrier 2, which leg is arranged perpendicular to the conveying direction, a three-walled conveying cup which picks up the pack properly and holds it at right angles in the correct format. At the deflection semicircle of the 'deflection wheel 3, despite opening this cup, there are still two walls standing at right angles to one another, against which the pack P is pressed due to its frictional resistance, so that the packs P remain right-angled here in the correct format.
If this should not be properly ensured under particularly unfavorable circumstances, provision can be made to equip the deflection wheel 3 with a number of pivotable fingers 6 which, with suitable control on the deflection semicircle mentioned, also press the pack P into the driver bracket and hold it in the correct format by they lie against the front of the assigned pack P.
No special measures are required for pushing the packs out of the conveyor, as the cups formed by the drivers open automatically when they are deflected on the wheel or drum 4 and the packs P can be taken over by another conveyor 8 without changing the conveying direction .
As FIG. 4 shows, the conveyor device of the invention offers the further advantage that a changeover to very large formats is easily possible. For this purpose, from a certain format size onwards, a longer angle piece 2 corresponding to an enlarged package format needs to be attached to every second division of the conveyor chain 1, while short angle pieces 7 are to be provided on the intermediate divisions, the legs of which are perpendicular to the conveying direction on the straight Conveyor lines in turn form the third wall of conveyor buckets.
Such a changeover, which only requires a relatively short time, allows the format range of the conveying device to be significantly expanded in the simplest possible way, so that the associated packaging machine can be used for almost all common packaging sizes.
The number and arrangement of the aforementioned pivotable fingers 6 corresponds to the chain division provided for the angle pieces 2.
