Description

Construction The present invention relates to a construction comprising a structure covered by an outer covering of fabric. This construction may be a tent and may include a structure formed from pipes inflated at high pressure.

The construction which is the object of the present invention is characterized in that the outer covering comprises two parts joined together in a removable manner by connection members extending along the adjacent edges of said parts, and in that each of these parts further comprises a guide for a pull cord extending along said edge and a pull cord housed in the guide, the guides and the ropes being arranged so that when the ropes. are stretched, they pull said adjacent edges towards each other.

These strings can be curved at a distance from each other at their middle part.

The single figure of the appended drawing shows in perspective, by way of example, one embodiment of the construction which is the subject of the invention.

The construction shown comprises a structure formed of high pressure inflated and arcuate pipes, the position of two of these pipes being indicated by the references 1, and a casing 2 covering the pipes. The envelope 2 is stretched in the manner described in. Swiss patent No 419565.

The envelope 2 consists of a panel 3 at each end of the construction. Each panel 3 comprises two inclined end flaps 4 which are respectively connected to small vertical panels 5.

The envelope 2, the panels 3 and 5 and the shutters 4 constitute the cover of the construction. The panel 3 is kept under a certain tension by means of traction cords 6 which are slidably housed in a guide sleeve which follows the curved edge of the panel 3 at its junction with the flaps 4. The end of each cord 6 is fixed to an anchor fixed to the ground, for example a stake. The ropes 6 thus contribute to the longitudinal stability of the construction.

The two flaps 4 are joined together by means of a zipper 8, the two halves of which are attached respectively to the adjacent edges of the flaps 4. Guide sleeves 7 'are arranged near said adjacent edges of the flaps 4. These guides 7 'are slightly curved at a distance from one another in their central part. Pull cords 7 can slide through the sleeves 7 '. These. ropes 7 are fixed at their lower end to any suitable ground anchors and at their upper end to reinforced parts of the construction, for example to structural pipes.

When the ropes 7 are stretched, they serve to hold the flaps 4 transversely and to provide longitudinal stability to the construction. Furthermore, when these cords are stretched, they eliminate the transverse tension on the zipper 8. This prevents this closure from being damaged by the force of the wind. Furthermore, the closure 8 can be easily opened and closed due to the absence of any transverse tension on this closure.

The construction comprises further zippers 9, only one of which is shown, at the junction between the panels 3 and the flaps 4. It can be seen that by opening one of the zippers 8 and 9 or all of these zippers, the flaps 4 can be folded up to form various end openings. It is understood that it is necessary to release the appropriate pull cord 7 before the corresponding flap 4 can be folded back onto the line along which the flaps 4 are normally connected to each other.

The traction cords 6 and 7 can be flexible steel cables, for example. The sleeves 7 'constituting guides for the ropes could be replaced by a series of loops.

It is particularly advantageous to provide a slight bump in the middle of the seam line which joins the guides 7 'to the outer covering of the inner side of the curve made by these guides. Thus, the tension force which is established as a result of the tension of the strings 7 and acts in a direction substantially perpendicular to these strings is concentrated, to a considerable extent, in an area close to the middle of the edges of the flaps, because the strings 7 create tension in the blanket only where they press against the inner edge of the curved guides.

The bump in the seam line keeps each cord 7 out of contact with this edge for a considerable distance on either side of the bump.

Safety guys 18 are attached to the pressure pipes in positions 1.
