Additional patent to main patent no. 398 228 Shut-off element The main patent relates to a shut-off element with a closing piece which tapers towards its free end and which is perpendicular to the flow direction of the housing,
blocks the flow cross-section in its closed position and its free end in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction is approximately semicircular according to the inner radius of the flow channel and at least on the parts adjacent to the housing wall is provided with a coating of rubber-elastic material, which is provided in the closed position of the shut-off element is in direct contact with the wall delimiting the flow channel,
wherein the cover of the closure piece in its part resting on the housing has a circumferential groove perpendicular to the flow direction of the medium.
The invention is based on the object of improving the seal between the closure piece and the flow channel wall. For this purpose, it suggests that the closure piece has essentially flat surfaces perpendicular to the flow direction and the groove is limited by two sloping surfaces inclined towards the groove deepest, where the coating along its semicircular edges over the two in the flow direction of the medium behind and the front limiting surfaces of the locking piece protrudes.
A fitting is already known, the closure piece of which has grooves which are delimited by two inclined surfaces which are inclined towards the bottom of the groove. The grooves, however, have transverse strips through which it is considerably more difficult to evade the rubber-elastic coating and thus the sealing effect is impaired. In addition, the known Arma ture is based on an object that is completely different from that of the invention and the main patent.
With the shut-off element according to the invention, with a relatively simple structure, both the actual shut-off body and the coating made of rubber-elastic material it carries can achieve a perfect seal, even when using relatively low closing forces. Due to the above-described design of the closure piece or its rubber coating, the rubber can easily be evaded, whereby a particularly good sealing system is achieved.
The rubber cover can be undercut along its semi-circular edges. The arrangement is expediently such that the inclined surfaces forming the groove are delimited on the outside by a surface running approximately parallel to the inner wall of the flow channel or merge into this.
The two lateral boundary surfaces of the closure piece can be inclined outwardly at their spindle-side end in relation to the respective remaining surface in a known manner and in the closed position with correspondingly arranged or
cooperate out formed surfaces of the housing. In addition, the rubber coating on the spindle side of the closure piece in the open position of the valve can interact in the usual way with an annular extension of the housing cover surrounding the spindle to achieve a seal.
In order to achieve a particularly good sealing effect in the closed position of the closure piece, it is expedient that the latter, including the rubber cover, transversely to the flow channel is slightly larger than the flow channel in the unstressed state. An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 shows a longitudinal section through a shut-off device according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows the associated cross section, FIG. 3 shows a plan view of the housing with the cover removed.
The shut-off element according to the invention consists essentially of a housing 10, a housing cover 11, the actual closure body 12 and an actuating spindle 12a, which is held and guided in the housing cover 11 via a screw 14, optionally with a stuffing box interposed.
The shut-off body 12 is delimited on its in the flow direction of the medium 20 front and rear surfaces 12 'essentially flat. It carries a coating 17 made of rubber-elastic material, which continues upwards or towards the spindle 12a in the support 15 ', which cover at least parts of the limiting surface of the shut-off body 12 on the spindle side.
In the plane transverse to the flow direction 20, the free end 13 of the closure piece 12 is approximately semicircular, the dimensions being chosen so that they are somewhat larger than the cross section of the flow channel 19 at least at the limiting surfaces 12 '. The closure piece 12 passes through the channel 19 in its closed position, the coating 15 being pressed firmly against the wall of the channel 19 due to the somewhat larger dimensions of the closure piece 12, including the coating 15.
By the presence of a groove 17 on the housing wall 18 facing and interacting with this surface, a perfect seal can be achieved, although the otherwise usual seat (cup) in the wall 18 of the flow channel 19, in which the free end 13 of the closure piece 12 engages, does not exist.
The groove delimited by the inclined surfaces 17 'ensures that the material representing the rubber-elastic over tension can evade during the closing process, that is, when the closure piece 12 is pressed against the wall 18 of the channel 19, whereby in particular an adaptation to Irregularities, unevenness and the like present in the wall 18 are possible.
In addition, the part of the cover 15 that interacts with the wall 18 can also give way to the boundary surfaces 12 'located at the rear and front in the direction of flow 20. This is achieved by an undercut 21 of the jacket.
The lateral boundary surfaces of the closure body 12 lying at the front and rear in the direction of flow 20 are, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 1 of the drawing, angled slightly outward on the spindle side at 22 and, in the closed position, cooperate with correspondingly extending surfaces 23 of the housing 10 . Due to this inclination, even in the closed position upwards,
that is, in the direction of the space 24 surrounding the spindle 12a, a perfect seal is achieved.
The inside of the housing cover 11 has an extension 25 surrounding the spindle 12a, against which the parts 15 'of the rubber-elastic coating that are arranged on the spindle side abut in the open position. 1 and 2 show that these parts 15 'of the cover are provided with a circumferential groove or the like 15 ".
This groove 15 ″ is dimensioned such that it corresponds approximately to the delimitation of the free end 25 ′ of the extension 25, whereby a correspondingly good contact and thus also a good sealing of the space surrounding the spindle in the open position of the closure piece is achieved.
Here, too, there is the possibility of the rubber-elastic mate rial, with strong suit against the extension 25, z. B. to evade radially in the direction of arrows 26.
Similar to the proposal according to the main patent, the invention is based on the consideration that the rubber-elastic material, which cannot be compressed, must be given the possibility to a certain extent in the event of any stresses through which a seal is to be achieved to evade in order to enable an artificial compressibility in this way.
Since, as already mentioned, a much firmer pressing of the rubber is possible on the solid wall parts that interact with it, through which a correspondingly better sealing effect is achieved. On the other hand, the risk of the rubber-elastic material being destroyed or damaged by excessive loads in the sense of being pressed on is also largely excluded.
The drawing also shows that the closure piece 12 is provided with lateral extensions 27 which slide in corresponding guides 28 of the housing 10 during the opening and closing process.
