Description
Device for the wet treatment of freshly extruded running film webs made of thermoplastics
The invention relates to a device for the wet treatment of freshly extruded running film webs made of thermoplastics, which consists of a tank filled with liquid, into which the film web is inserted vertically from above and carried away vertically upwards via deflection rollers arranged near the bottom.
In the known devices of this type, the temperature distribution within the liquid bath which occurs during stationary operation is caused by the flow conditions in the tank and by the not inconsiderable heat that is supplied by the incoming hot film web. Attempts have been made to circulate the liquid bath by means of vanes arranged on the pulleys. In this way, however, a uniform temperature distribution in the vicinity of the film web, in particular in the vicinity of the liquid level, cannot be achieved.
On the contrary, it has even been observed that when polyamide is extruded into the water in irregular succession at various points in the immediate vicinity of the immersion point of the film, water particles are thrown out of the water surface, which when they hit the melt flow or those above the water surface Hit the nozzle lips, lead to knot-like thickenings of the film web.
It has now been found that these disadvantages are eliminated if, according to the invention, nozzles are arranged within the liquid in the vicinity of the liquid level on both sides of the film web in such a way that their mouths are directed towards the liquid level and the exiting liquid jets each run in planes which both are perpendicular to the liquid level and perpendicular to the plane of the film web.
The nozzles are expediently fed by a liquid line located outside the tank. This ensures that the additionally supplied liquid flows in the vicinity of the film web produce a constant flow pattern of the tank contents transversely to the direction of travel of the film web, especially in the immediate vicinity of the immersion point of the film web.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
The melt flow 2 emerging from the slot die 1 forms the film 3 after it has solidified and runs vertically downward into the liquid bath located in the tank 4. The film 3 is passed further between the two symmetrically arranged liquid nozzles 5, 6 and at the same time stabilized in its position, passes the guide rollers 7, 8 and emerges from the liquid in a space of the tank separated from the tank space 9 by the partition 10 up out. It can then be used further in a known manner. The nozzles 5, 6 are designed particularly with a view to the formation of a laminar flow of the symmetry defined above.
The distance of the exit gap of the nozzles 5, 6 from the surface of the liquid as well as their distance from the incoming film in the direction of the outflow can be made adjustable, so that the most favorable conditions can be used in each case. In order to ensure the symmetry of the flow process on both sides of the film plane regardless of other parameters in any case, the partition 10 is provided. 11 and 12 represent two channels provided in accordance with the above symmetry requirements for draining the overflowing bath liquid. The height of the relatively parallel upper edges of the walls 10 and 13 determines the height of the liquid level. The nozzles 5, 6 are connected with their lines 14 and 15 to a water pipe outside the tank.
