Abstract

Equipment for the surface treatment of strip with liquid media, especially for pickling rolled metal strip, in a covered container, having a plate above and parallel to the strip immersed in the liquid medium, which divides the treatment bath into a treatment zone below the plate and a return flow zone above the plate.

Description

The invention relates to a device for the surface treatment of strips with liquids, in particular for pickling rolled metal strips, in a trough-shaped container, in particular closed off by a lid.

According to the prior art, such belt treatment plants, such as Pickling, carried out with liquid baths with a bath depth of approx. 100 mm to 200 mm and usually 10 m to approx. 40 m in length per single bath. Since the reaction rate of the treatment medium on the belt surface of the band-shaped material to be treated is positively influenced by a reduction in the liquid boundary layer on the belt surface, there is a tendency towards ever smaller bath depths, which results in a higher bath turbulence due to the higher Reynolds number and a reduction in the liquid boundary layer due to higher shear action .

If the surface of the treatment bath is free, the mean bath depth can only be reduced to a lower limit determined by the maximum belt speed. Due to the drag effect of the moving belt, the treatment medium in the treatment bath is entrained in the direction of the belt movement. The result is an inclined liquid level with a correspondingly excessive bath depth at the exit of the strip from the treatment bath and a correspondingly reduced bath depth at the entry of the strip into the treatment bath. At higher speeds (e.g. at 200 mm average bath depth and 20 m bath length above approx. 200 m / min belt speed), there is an empty pump in the area where the belt enters the treatment bath, so that the immersion length of the belt in the treatment medium is shortened accordingly and thus the Length of the treatment bath is no longer fully utilized. The middle bathroom mirror must therefore be raised to avoid draining. The performance limit of a treatment bath with a free surface is therefore given by the optimum between shortening the pickling bath due to drag effect and reduced pickling effect due to greater mean bath depth.

A known measure for achieving a low mean bath depth at high speeds is the formation of a closed treatment channel. The bath depth is thereby fixed to the height of the treatment channel. To prevent the treatment channel from being emptied, the band must exit the treatment channel using methods such as e.g. in EP 0 655 519 A1, are hydrodynamically sealed against the dynamic pressure of the towing effect. The hydrodynamic seal requires a considerable amount of energy, which must be additionally applied in comparison to treatment baths with a free surface. In addition, due to the high back pressure due to the sealing of the treatment channel at the strip outlet, the necessary supply of fresh treatment medium is made more difficult and is associated with high energy expenditure.

The formation of a closed channel reduces the evaporation of the treatment medium and therefore brings about a reduction in the energy requirement for maintaining the treatment temperature. However, this is not advantageous, in particular, in pickling plants which recover the acid by decomposing heat in additional devices, since the amount of liquid not evaporated in the treatment tank increases the energy requirement for recovery accordingly.

The purpose of this invention is to improve the performance limit of a treatment bath with a free surface, so that the disadvantages of a closed treatment channel are avoided.

The invention is characterized in that a plate immersed in the liquid, in particular in the pickling medium, is arranged above the belt, which is aligned approximately parallel to the belt and the treatment bath in a treatment area below the plate and a reflux area for the liquid, in particular that Pickling medium, divides above the plate. This causes an improved backflow of the accumulated treatment liquid in the treatment container from the area of the tape outlet to the tape inlet, so that the accumulation height in the area of the tape outlet is reduced and therefore the average bath depth can be reduced. Another advantage of the proposed device is that a treatment channel with a small bath depth is formed by the plate according to the invention, while at the same time the free surface of the treatment medium is retained and the drag effect of the belt is used for a targeted circulation and mixing of the treatment medium in the treatment container.

A particularly favorable effect is achieved if the plate extends almost over the entire length of the treatment container and only at the beginning and end of the container are passages between the plate and the container wall or in the plate through which the liquid, in particular the pickling medium , can flow from the lower treatment area to the upper reflux area and vice versa. The treatment liquid is thus conducted completely from the area of the tape outlet to the area of the tape inlet.

For longer treatment containers, it is advantageous if the plate consists of several individual plates arranged one after the other, and that passage gaps are left between the plates, through which the liquid, in particular the pickling medium, can flow from the lower treatment area to the upper reflux area and vice versa. This will, on the one hand circulation of the treatment liquid is achieved in partial areas of the treatment container, and on the other hand the treatment liquid flows better when the treatment container is emptied. The same effect can be achieved in that the plate contains openings through which the liquid, in particular the pickling medium, can circulate between the lower treatment area and the upper reflux area.

A particularly favorable effect is achieved if the plate has a V-shaped cross section, as a result of which flat contact with flat belts can be avoided and the flow of treatment liquid is improved when emptying.

A particularly favorable effect is achieved if the plate on the side facing the belt is provided with transverse ribs which on the one hand brake the flow by dragging and on the other hand cause increased turbulence in the treatment room.

The separation into a treatment area and a reflux area can advantageously be used for a targeted supply of fresh treatment liquid, in which the treatment liquid, in particular pickling medium, is supplied to the sides of the container through inlets and introduced into the treatment room below the plate by means of a jet effect, or in that the Liquid, in particular the pickling medium, is fed below the belt through the bottom of the container. The injection is preferably carried out in the area of the belt inlet so that the freshly supplied treatment liquid is first guided along the belt before it recirculates in the treatment tank through the reflux area formed by the plate.

A particularly favorable design of the injection results if it is directed at an angle against the direction of movement of the belt. This is causing a reduction in the drag effect of the belt and therefore brings about a further reduction in the accumulation height in the area of the belt outlet.

An advantageous embodiment of the device according to the invention results when the plate is fastened to the lid of the treatment container and is lifted by the lid when the lid is opened, the plate preferably being able to move upward within certain limits in order to avoid collisions with the belt to be able to dodge.

6 shows a section of the pickling section with the belt 1, the squeezing rollers 4 and the plate 16. The plate 16 here has transverse ribs 25 on which the flow is slowed down, which results in increased turbulence and thus improved pickling effect.
The application is described on the basis of a pickling line, but can also be used in other processes in which a belt with high Speed is transported through a container with treatment liquid.
