EMI0002.0053

EMI0004.0001
<I>Beispiel 3</I> 387 Teile 2-Amino-5-(a,ss-dichlorpropionyl- amino)-4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfon werden mit 1800 Teilen Wasser in der Walzenmühle feiest ver- pastet.
<I>Färbevorschrift A:</I> 2 Teile des gemäss Beispiel 2 erhaltenen Farb stoffes werden in 100 Teilen Wasser gelöst.
Additional patent to main patent no. 365159 Process for the production of new dyes The present invention relates to a process for the production of new, valuable, water-soluble organic dyes, which is characterized in that water-soluble azo dyes which contain a propionyl radical bonded via its -CO group are the a halogen atom, preferably in / 3-position, and at least one other electro-negative substituent, e.g.
B. has a nitro group, a sulfonic acid group, a cyano group and / or one or more halogen atoms, produced by azo coupling from dye components, of which at least one contains the mentioned propionyl radical and at least one a water-solubilizing group.
Propionyl radicals of this type are to be understood primarily as those of the formula
EMI0001.0017
correspond, in which at least one of the symbols R1 represents a halogen atom and the other hydrogen or halogen atoms.
These radicals can be bound through their -CO groups to an aromatic nucleus of the dye molecule directly or preferably via a nitrogen atom. This nitrogen atom can be further substituted by an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical. The dyes of the present invention which contain at least one group of the formula are particularly valuable
EMI0001.0027
contain, where n is an integer.
In addition to a group of this type, which if necessary via an -SO2 group or an alkylene radical, but preferably directly to an aromatic ring of the dye molecule, the dyes according to the invention contain at least one water-solubilizing group, eg.
B. an optionally acylated sulfonic acid amide group, a sulfonic group, in particular a methyl sulfonic group or advantageously at least one strongly acidic water-solubilizing group such as a carboxyl or a sulfonic acid group. You can also use other, in particular not water-solubilizing substituents, such as halogen atoms, nitro, acylamino,
Alkyl or alkoxy groups.
The water-solubilizing group and the halogenated propionyl group of the specified type can be distributed as desired in the dye molecule, ie. H. One group of each of the two types can be present in the remainder of a single component, or one dye component can e.g. B. contain the solubilizing group and another the group of formula (1).
Dye components which contain the halogenated propionyl radicals mentioned can be prepared by methods known per se, eg. B. by acylation of suitable compounds by means of halides or anhydrides halogenated propionic acids, are prepared which have a halogen atom, preferably in (position and at least one other electronega tive substituent, z.
B. have a nitro group, a sulfonic acid group, a cyanuric group and / or one or more halogen atoms.
Compounds suitable for this purpose are those which have an easily acylatable amino group, e.g. B. a monoalkylamino group or a primary amino group and in the case of diazo components a nitro group or a primary amino group that is less easily acylated,
in the case of azo components either have a coupling-related amino group which is difficult to acylate or a nitro group at the same position, or have a coupling-related oxy group. As less readily acylable amino groups, those to be mentioned are primarily those that are adjacent to an acidic group, e.g. B. a sulfonic acid group.
Aminooxy compounds are to be acylated in such a way that esterification of the oxy group is avoided, for which a non-alkaline reaction medium is known to be suitable. The nitro compounds have to be reduced to the amines after the acylation.
The dyes obtained according to the invention are new. They are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, in particular polyhydric materials such as cellulose-containing materials, both synthetic fibers, e.g. B. made of polyvinyl alcohol, regenerated cellulose or viscose as well as natural materials such. B.
Linen or especially cotton. They are suitable for dyeing by the so-called direct dyeing method and also by the printing or padder dyeing process, in particular from alkaline, possibly highly saline, aqueous solutions, e.g. B. by processes in which the dyes are applied to the goods to be colored by heat treatment, e.g. B. be fixed by steaming.
EMI0002.0053
dyes cellulose according to the method given in dyeing instruction A in red-violet shades. Egg also dyes wool in real, red-violet tones.
The coupling can also take place with advantage in the presence of sodium acetate or sodium bicarbonate.
The 4- (α, ß-dichloropropionylamino) -1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid used in this example can be prepared as follows: 18.8 parts 1,4-diaminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 400 parts of water , neutralized with sodium carbonate.
With vigorous stirring, 21 parts of a, ss-dichloropropionic acid chloride are added dropwise at 0 to 5 in the course of 20 minutes and at the same time neutralized with a dilute sodium carbonate solution so that the reaction solution has a pH of The dyeings obtainable on cellulose-containing fibers with the dyes according to the invention They are usually characterized by the purity of their colors, good lightfastness and, above all, excellent washfastness.
The dyes according to the invention which z. B. two sulfonic acid groups, but preferably have a single acidic water-solubilizing group, are also suitable for dyeing and printing nitrogen-containing textile materials such as leather, silk and old wool and superpolyamide or super polyurethane fibers from weakly alkaline, neutral or acidic bath; z. B. from acidic vinegar bath. The dyeings obtained on wool with such dyestuffs are extremely washable and washfast.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
<I> Example 1 </I> 31.4 parts of 4- (a, ss-dichloropropionylamino) -1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 600 parts of water with the addition of sodium carbonate, with 0 to 5 with 30 parts of 30% iger hydrochloric acid sets and diazotized with 25 parts by volume of 4N sodium nitrite solution. The Congo-acid diazo suspension is poured into an ice-cold solution of 42.3 parts of 1-benzoylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,
6-disulfonic acid and 30 parts of sodium carbonate in 400 parts of water. After the coupling has ended, the dye is separated off by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried at 60 to 70 in vacuo.
The dye of the formula 6 to 7 thus obtained has. When the reaction has ended, the mixture is acidified with hydrochloric acid, filtered off and the reaction product is washed with saturated sodium chloride solution.
In a similar way, 5- (α, ß-dichloropropionylamino) -1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid can be prepared from 5-amino-1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid. <I> Example 2 </I> 4.78 parts of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are neutralized with sodium carbonate in 300 parts of water.
With vigorous stirring, a solution of 4 parts of α, β-dichloropropionic acid chloride in 10 parts of toluene is allowed to flow in at 0 to 5 and the reaction mixture is kept slightly acidic (pH 5 to 6) by simultaneously adding a dilute sodium hydroxide solution. After a short time the amino group is completely acylated.
After adding 5 parts of sodium bicarbonate to the solution of the 2- (a, ss-dichloropropionyl-

The dye dyes cotton according to the method specified in dyeing instruction A in yellow-orange shades.
Dyes are obtained which give slightly redder colorations when the 1-aminobenzene-2 @ sulfonic acid is replaced by the 1-aminobenzene-3- or -4-sulfonic acid.
Similar dyes are obtained if the coupling component used in place of 2- (a, l-dichloropropionylamino) -5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is the one in

amino) -5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is then added to the diazo compound obtained from 3.46 parts of 1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid. After coupling has ended, the dye of the formula is obtained in an analogous manner from 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid and a, ss-dibromopropionic acid chloride 2- (a, ss-dibromopropionylamino)
-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is used.
From the diazo components mentioned in column I, according to one of Examples 1 and 2, by coupling with the coupling components given in column 11, dyes which dye cotton in the shades given in column III.
EMI0004.0001
<I> Example 3 </I> 387 parts of 2-amino-5- (α, ß-dichloropropionylamino) -4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfone are pasted with 1800 parts of water in a roller mill . The paste is then diluted with 1200 parts of water, 250 parts by volume of hydrochloric acid (d = 1.15) are added, the mixture is cooled to 0 to 5 and 250 parts by volume of 4N sodium nitrite solution are allowed to flow in. After 24 hours the nitrite reaction has practically disappeared.
Acetone can be added to accelerate the diazotization.
226 parts of 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid and 73 parts of 1,3,6-naphthalenetrisulphonic acid are suspended in 2400 parts of water from 60 to 70 and neutralized with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution to a slightly lacquer acid reaction. This solution is heated to 70 to 80 and allowed to flow into the diazo suspension with stirring. The temperature of 30 to 35 reached after mixing the components is maintained for 24 hours.
A solution of 140 parts of crystallized sodium acetate in 300 parts of warm water, which was made weak lacquer wall with acetic acid, is added very slowly to the coupling mixture after the addition of 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid.
After coupling has ended, the dye suspension is calcined with about 200 parts at room temperature. Sodium carbonate was added until the reaction was slightly brilliantly alkaline and filtered. The press cake obtained is dried at 50 to 60 in vacuo. A dark red powder is obtained which dissolves in hot water and dyes wool in an acidic to neutral agent in bluish red shades of excellent wet fastness and very good light fastness.
The 2 - amino-5- (a, ss-dichloropropionylamino) -4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenyl sulfone can, for. B. obtained in the following manner: 298 parts of the hydrochloride of 2,5-diamino-4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfone are dissolved warm in 1200 parts of water and 900 parts of glacial acetic acid and cooled to zero. After adding 410 parts of crystallized sodium acetate, 268 parts of α, β-dichloropropionyl chloride, dissolved in 300 parts of toluene, are added over the course of about one hour with stirring.
The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes and 3200 parts of water are added dropwise over a period of 30 minutes, the mixture is stirred for a further 30 minutes and filtered. The residue is washed with plenty of water from 30 to 40 and dried at 60 to 70 in vacuo.
<I> Example 4 </I> 387 parts of 2-amino-5- (a, ss-dichloropropionylamino) -4'-methyl-1,1'-d'iphenylsulfone are diazotized as described in Example 3 and the obtained diazo compound in the manner described in Example 3 with 223 parts of 2-aminonaphthalin-6-sulfonic acid. An orange-red powder is obtained which dissolves in water and dyes wool in an acidic to neutral agent in orange shades of very good wet and light fastness.
<I> Example 5 </I> 40.3 parts of 5- (α, ß-dibromopropionylamino) -1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid are stirred into 800 parts of water, mixed with 25 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid and at 0 to 5 diazotized with 25 parts of a 4N sodium nitrite solution. The diazo suspension is then poured into an ice-cold solution of 46.8 parts of the dye of the formula
EMI0005.0015
given in 300 parts of a 2N sodium carbonate solution and 800 parts of water.
After coupling is complete, the dye is completely deposited by adding sodium chloride and dried at 60 to 70 in vacuo. The dye of the formula
EMI0005.0018
dyes cellulose in greenish-blue shades and wool in blue-black shades of very good wet fastness.
A dye with very similar properties is obtained if the equivalent amount of 5- (α, ß-dichloropropionylamino) -1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid is used as the diazo compound.
Dyeing instruction A: 2 parts of the dye obtained in Example 2 are dissolved in 100 parts of water.
A cotton fabric is impregnated with this solution on the padder and the excess liquid is squeezed off so that the fabric retains 75% of its weight in dye solution.
The thus impregnated goods are dried, then impregnated at room temperature with a solution containing 10 g of sodium hydroxide and 300 g of sodium chloride per liter, squeezed off to a 75% increase in liquid and steamed for 60 seconds at 100 to 10111. It is then rinsed, treated in 0.5% sodium carbonate solution, rinsed, soaped for 1 / a hour in a 0.3% solution of an ion-free detergent at boiling temperature, rinsed and dried.
The result is a yellow-orange, boil-fast, fixed color. If you use a rayon fabric instead of a cotton fabric, you get a similarly good result.
Dyeing instructions B: 2 parts of dye no. 4 of the table according to Example 2 are mixed with 20 parts of urea, dissolved in 28 parts of water and stirred into 40 parts of a 5% sodium alginate thickener. Then another 10 parts of a 10% sodium carbonate solution are added.
This printing ink is used to print a cotton fabric on a roller blind printing machine, dry and dampen the pressure obtained for 8 minutes at 100 in saturated steam. Then the printed fabric is thoroughly rinsed in cold and hot water and dried.
A sharp, laugh-red print is obtained in this way, which is fixed in a boil-proof manner.
