Fig. 1 in der Ausgangsstellung,
Fig. 2 bei Beginn des Ausstanzvorganges,
Fig. 3 in der Schweisstellung.
Device for the automatic closing of a plastic container provided with a protruding edge by a lid made of a plastic film
The invention relates to a device for automatically closing a plastic container provided with a protruding edge with a lid made of plastic film, consisting of a punch through which the lid is punched out of a film strip running off a roll and onto the filled container provided by a conveyor belt is deposited, and from a device through which the lid is welded to the container edge by applying pressure and heat.
The device according to the invention, by means of which it is made possible that all the operations necessary for closing take place in one work cycle in a transfer line, is characterized in that the punching punch arranged above the container on the one hand and a lower punch arranged below the conveyor belt carrying the container serve as the welding device, at least one punch can be heated, that the conveyor belt is provided with openings, the areas of which are larger than the area of the lower ram, that retaining rings are loosely suspended in the openings of the conveyor belt, which engage under the protruding edge of the container, and that the lower ram can be moved far up through an opening in the conveyor belt, that in the welding position,
In which the two stamps are pressed against each other indirectly via the punched-out lid, the container edge and the retaining ring, the retaining ring is lifted from the conveyor belt, and one of the two stamps assumes its end position and is held in this position with a greater force than the other Able to exercise stamp.
An additional advantage of the device according to the invention is that, with little additional effort, it is suitable for closing the container under negative pressure. You only need a sleeve-like ring that surrounds the lower punch. Such a device for closing at negative pressure is z.
B. characterized in that the lower punch is surrounded by a resilient and sealingly mounted sleeve-like ring, the upper edge of which is in the unloaded state above the end face of the lower punch that during the upward movement of the lower punch, the ring with the holding plate and over the latter with the underside of the Die comes into contact before the lower punch has reached the welding position that an evacuation hole is arranged in the lower area of the punching die, and that means are provided which control the movements of the two punches in such a way that they reach the area of the die at about the same time.
Further details are explained with reference to the drawing, which shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the device for closing under negative pressure in various working phases, namely:
Fig. 1 in the starting position,
Fig. 2 at the beginning of the punching process,
3 in the welding position.
The die 1, an upper plate 6 and a lower plate 7 are immovably attached to a frame (not shown). A pressure piston 8 connected to the punch 3 is guided in the upper plate 6. The cover strip 2 running off the roll (not shown) is guided between the punch 3 and the die 1. If it is a metal foil laminated with plastic, the arrangement is such that the plastic layer is at the bottom. A pressure piston 9 connected to the lower punch 5 is guided in the lower plate 7. The lower punch 5 is surrounded by a sleeve-like pressure ring 52, which is supported on springs 53 and can thus move in the axial direction relative to the lower punch 5. In the unloaded state, the upper edge of the ring 52 projects beyond that of the lower punch 5.
A conveyor belt runs between the lower punch 5 and the die 1, a conveyor chain 4 in the illustrated embodiment. This is provided with recesses 41, into which annular retaining plates 42 are loosely suspended. The containers 20 filled in the previous station of the transfer line rest in these.
Mode of action
When the advance of the film strip 2 and the conveyor belt 4 into the positions shown in FIG. 1 has ended, the two pressure pistons 8 and 9 are acted upon. The movements of the two pressure pistons are controlled in such a way that they have reached the position shown in FIG. 2 at approximately the same point in time. The end face of the punch 3 just touches the foil strip 2. Outside the punch area, the foil strip 2 is simultaneously touched by a sealing ring 33, which is attached to a plate 31 connected to the pressure piston 8 and the punch 3. The lower punch 5, on the other hand, has already penetrated the recess 41 of the conveyor belt 4 and has reached its end position.
The pressure ring 52 has lifted the holding plate 42 with the container 20 suspended therein and presses it with a certain force against a ring 12 fastened to the underside of the die 1.
The movement of the upper pressure piston 8 continues in the meantime, the cover 21 being punched out. The closed cavity, which is formed axially by the plate 31 and the lower punch plate 55 and on the circumference by the sealing rings 33, 12, 54, is evacuated through the line 11 located in the die 1 during the further downward movement of the punch 3. The punched-out cover 21 is held by a holding device, for example the suction device 34, on the face of the punch 3. The downward movement of the punch continues until the lid 21 held on the end face of the punch comes into contact with the edge of the container 20 from standing and the welding process begins (Fig. 3).
The punch acted upon by the pressure piston 8 presses
3 the lid against the edge of the container, which is held via the holding plate 42 by the lower punch 5, which is acted upon by the pressure piston 9 with a greater force. The heat required for welding is generated by electrical heating elements which are arranged in one of the two stamps, preferably in the lower stamp. A stop ring 32 or the like can be used to operate a timer that determines the duration of the pressing process and then causes the punch to be returned.
After welding has taken place, the pressure pistons 8, 9 and the stamps 3, 5 connected to them are returned to the starting positions shown in FIG. According to a further feature of the invention, the return of the piston 9 and the ram 5 takes place with a certain time delay compared to the piston 8 and the ram 3, to which the cover 21 together with the container 20 is still adhered by the suction device 34. Only when the suction force of the holding device 34 has decreased after having covered a certain distance does the container 20 fall back into the holding ring 42 which is still in the extended position.
The height of fall remains low, especially if the evacuation device remains switched on, so that a negative pressure is created on the underside of the container 20, which together with the weight of the container counteracts the force with which the container is held on the punch. In order to distribute the impact caused by the fall of the container over the entire surface of the container and thus to prevent damage, the lower punch 5 is provided with a recess which corresponds to the shape of the container. Only after the container rests on the retaining ring 42 and the welding die 5 again, the piston 9 is moved back into its starting position.
Known means are used to control the individual movement sequences so that they do not need to be explained in more detail.
