Man erhält -grosse Ausbeuten,
Man erhält 17,6 Teile rotviolettes lineares 2-Methylchinacridon.
Process for the production of linear quinaeridin-diones Linear quinaeridin-diones, hereinafter referred to as quineacridones, are known compounds which, in fine distribution, are suitable for coloring paints and plastic materials. Various processes are known in which quinacridones are prepared by condensation of bis (acrylamino) benzene dicarboxylic acids, e.g.
B. the production of quinaeridin-7,14-dione according to the following equation:
EMI0001.0013
The aryl radicals labeled A and B can be identical or different. They can carry the same or different substituents so that the quin acridone molecule is symmetrical or asymmetrical.
According to H. Liebermann (Liebigs Annalen der Chemie <B> <I> 518, </I> </B> p. 246), the condensation is carried out with the help of zinc chloride, benzoyl chloride, aqueous hydrobromic acid, hydrogen bromide in glacial acetic acid, phosphorus phosphorus pentoxide in tetrahydronaphthalene or cymene, phosphorus pentachloride or aluminum chloride in benzene or with boric acid in the melt.
Other methods use hydrofluoric acid, phthalic anhydride, metal halides, in the melt or in the presence of an inert organic solvent. Sulfuric acid or its derivatives are also suitable as condensation agents. However, this gives sulfated quinacridones, from which the sulfonic acid groups have to be split off under pressure.
According to these known processes, the quinacridones are obtained in unsatisfactory yields. Some of the processes are technically difficult. Furthermore, from the dissertation of N.
Anitschkoff, Univ. Berlin, 1934, known that the action of phosphorus oxychloride on 2,5-bis- (phenylamino) -terephthalic acid and its derivatives substituted in the terminal nuclei give chlorine-containing products of a different composition, the solutions of which in alcoholic potassium hydroxide are not blue as with quinacridone, but are emerald green. The reaction is carried out without the use of solvents or diluents.
Quality. Yields are obtained if the condensation is carried out with the aid of polyphosphoric acid, but the products obtained, if they are not aftertreated, do not have the high brilliance and low grain hardness that are required of a pigment.
It has now been found that it is particularly beneficial to make quinacridones. Bis- (arylamino) -benzenedicarboxylic acids or their esters with the aid of phosphorus halides, in particular phosphorus oxychloride, as a condensing agent in an inert organic solvent. Great yields are obtained
-and the products obtained are pure. and have a low grain hardness and a high brilliance of the color tone even without after-treatment. This process is particularly suitable for the preparation of the compounds of the formula (1).
Except phosphorus oxychloride can be used as condensing agent z. B. phosphorus tri- and pentachloride can be used. Suitable solvents are those compounds which have a good dissolving power for the acids used or their esters and a boiling point of about 100 to 300 ° C. and preferably of about 150 to 250 ° C. at the condensation temperature. Particularly suitable solvents are, for. B. nitrobenzene, whose derivatives substituted by halogen atoms or alkyl groups, alkylbenzenes or halobenzenes.
One proceeds particularly expediently so that one z. B. a 2,5-bis (arylamino) -terephthalic acid with the solvent heated to about 100 to 350 C, in particular special to about 150 to 250 C, at this temperature the phosphorus halide, optionally dissolved in a small amount of solvent, adds quickly and then stirs for some time, depending on the starting material, about 15 minutes to 5 hours at the specified temperature.
Thereafter, the reaction product obtained has precipitated. You can work up in any way, e.g. B. with a solvent, such as. B. methanol, dilute, filter off the reaction product, solvents with Lö and, to remove any acid still present, wash with dilute ammonia and dry.
The compounds thus obtained are brilliant yellowish to bluish red quinacridones. They are particularly suitable as pigments for working in paints and plastic materials because they have a soft grain. The pigment colors are very light, heat and solvent fast and do not bleed. The parts mentioned in the following examples are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
<I> Example </I> A mixture of 8.5 is added to a solution of 20 parts of 2-phenylamino-5 - (4'-methyl-phenylamino) terephthalic acid in 480 parts of nitrobenzene at 2051 with vigorous stirring over the course of 2 minutes Parts of phosphorus oxychloride and 54 parts of nitrobenzene are added.
The mixture is stirred for a further 30 minutes at this temperature, allowed to cool to 95, 25 parts of water are added, the mixture is stirred for 15 minutes at 95-100 and then diluted at 80 with 480 parts of methanol. The precipitate is filtered off at room temperature, washed successively with methanol, dilute aqueous ammonia and water and dried at 60 ° in vacuo. 17.6 parts of red-violet linear 2-methylquinacridone are obtained. The yield corresponds to <B> 97.8% </B> of theory.
The product can be used after crushing in a mortar immediacy bar for dyeing paints or plastics, eg. B. polyvinyl chloride, polyolefins and polystyrene are used ver.
Assuming the same amount of 2.5 bis (phenyJamino) terephthalic acid, the linear quinacridone is also obtained in almost quantitative yield.
If the same amount of dried tetrahydronaphthalene is used instead of nitrobenzene and the rest of the procedure is the same, 14.4 parts of 2-methyl = quinacridone are obtained.
If a total of 530 parts of dried technical grade trichlorobenzene (boiling point 217) are used as the inert solvent and the mixture is condensed with 6.8 parts of phosphorus oxychloride at 217, 15 parts, that is 87.9% of theory, of the same end product are obtained .
With similar success, alkylnaphthalenes such. B. a-methyl-naphthalene or f-ethyl'-naphthalene, halogen naphtha, z. B. use a-chloro-naphthalene or / i-chloro-naphthalene and hexahydro-naphthalene.
