Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht.
Device on a folding unit for the production of printed copies folded parallel to the direction of paper travel
The invention relates to a device on a folding mechanism for producing printed copies folded parallel to the direction of paper travel.
For folding already pre-folded printed copies, the same are transported from the pre-folding unit to a folding table by belt guides. A rotating folding knife then presses the copies between two folding rollers, which finish folding the copy and transport it on. The folding knife must push the copies into the folding rollers at the right moment. For this reason, the folding knife must be able to be adjusted so that its position can be adapted to the copies coming from the pre-folding unit.
In the hitherto known folding devices, an adjusting device is installed, with which the folding knife can only be adjusted when the machine is at a standstill. In practice, however, it is very difficult to make the setting of the folding knife that corresponds to the respective speed of the machine. Depending on the speed of the machine, the copies arrive earlier or later on the folding table compared to the folding knife. At higher speeds, the specimens shoot forward, that is, they arrive on the folding table too early compared to the folding knife; but if the machine runs slower, the copies are left behind.
As a result, the copies get too far back or forward into the folding rollers, depending on the speed. This change in position of the folded copies is not very large at low speeds, on the other hand it can become so great at higher speeds that the folded copies get next to the pull rings of the folding rollers and can then no longer be transported properly in the delivery star and can even be compressed.
These disadvantages are eliminated according to the invention in that there are means for adjusting the folding blades for adjustment while the machine is running and at least one perforated disk is attached to the shaft of the folding blade carrier, with scanning elements being arranged for scanning the printed copies, of which at least one is for synchronizing the scanning process is in operative connection with the perforated disc.
The embodiment of the invention shown schematically in the drawing shows in:
Fig. 1 is a view of the device partially cut, and
Fig. 2 is a side view.
The following example describes a device with automatic regulation.
The rotating folding knife carrier 1 is driven by two helical gears 2 and 3. The gear 2 is, for example, wider than the gear 3, which is moved by means of a servo motor 4 via a threaded spindle 5 and fork 6 on the drive shaft 7 while the machine is running can. This makes it possible that the folding knife can be adjusted with respect to the shaft 8 while running, and the copies 10 fed to the folder with constant speed and cadence by belts 9 can turn sooner or later pressed into the folding rollers 12 by folding blades 11, i.e. That is, the position of the copy at the moment of folding can be regulated.
With two scanning elements, for example photocells 13 and 14, the position of the specimen can be scanned at the moment of folding, with photocell 13 controlling the foremost permissible location of the specimen, while photocell 14 controls the rearmost permissible location of the specimen during the folding.
In the foremost point the light beam coming from the light source 15 must always strike the photocell 13, but in the rearmost point the light beam coming from the light source 16 should always be covered by the specimen.
The photocell 17 controls the two photocells 13 and 14 as follows: The photocell 17 is illuminated by a light source 18 through a hole 19 in the perforated disc 20 only at the moment when the folding process takes place and only then switches the photocells 13 via the controller 21 and 14 a.
The perforated disk is firmly attached to the shaft 22 of the folding knife carrier 1. The controller 21 controls the servomotor 4 so that, when the copy covers the photocell 13, the folding knife 11 advances a little and presses the copy earlier into the folding rollers 12, whereas if the copy is behind the photocell 14, the folding knife follows a little and the copy later presses into the folding rollers 12. If the specimen is between the two photocells 13 and 14, neither of the two photocells will react.
The whole control is independent of the speed of the machine.
A control with only one photocell would be possible, but would result in constant, unsteady regulation even during normal operation.
Instead of the photocells, the scanning elements can also consist at least partially of electromagnetic pulse generators.
As a means for adjusting the folding knife while the machine is running, a pair of helical toothed gears are listed in the example, one of which is axially displaceable.
A planetary gear with an adjustable outer ring or a differential gear and a hydraulic unit can also be used as further means for adjusting the folding knife.
Likewise, the folding knife adjustment can be done by hand while the machine is running, if instead of the servo motor 4 on the threaded spindle 5 z. B. a handwheel is mounted, but the observation of the correct folding torque and the operation of the handwheel must be done by the operating personnel.
