Infusion device
The invention relates to an infusion device with a liquid container, which is inextricably connected by a line to a drop counter to form a unit consisting at least partially of flexible material, and with an at least partially tubular closure member, which can be broken off at a certain point and which prevents liquid from escaping before use from the container prevented.
In a known embodiment of this type, the line consists of a one-piece plastic hose and the closure member is formed on the insert part protruding into the drip chamber. During manufacture, the ends of the line hose are welded to the connecting ends of the container and drop counter, which are also made of plastic, and spikes have to be temporarily inserted into the end parts of the line hose. So that these spikes can be removed, other welds must be made on the container and drop counter later. This makes manufacturing more expensive.
The invention aims to eliminate this disadvantage in that the closure member is formed at one end of a coupling piece which connects two sections of the line to one another.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows the device in elevation, partly in longitudinal section, and
FIG. 2 shows a detail from FIG. 1 on a larger scale.
The device shown has a liquid container 1, which is inextricably connected to a drop counter 6 by a line consisting of parts 2, 3, 4, 5 to form a unit which, with the exception of part 4, consists of flexible plastic. The container 1 consists of a bag that is flat when empty, the upper and lower weld seams la, lb of which can be made in one operation, with the tube 2 being welded in at the same time. The drip chamber 6 consists of a plastic tube which is welded shut at its ends and thereby connected to the tube 5 and the tube 7 leading to the infusion needle. The permanent connection of the hose 4 with the hose 5 and the coupling piece 3 and that of the hose 2 with this coupling piece 3 takes place, for. B. by gluing.
The stiff coupling piece 3 made of plastic has, at its end facing away from the container or bag 1 and located in the tube 4, an extension 3a with a reduced outer diameter.
This approach 3a has an annular notch 8 in its outer surface. A sack-shaped extension 9a of the central channel 9 of the coupling piece 3 extends in this approach beyond the transverse plane in which the annular notch 8 is located.
Before the infusion device is used, the attachment 3a acts as a closure element which prevents the flow of liquid from the container to the drop counter 5, 6. The entire device including the contents of the container 1 can be sterilized in this state. When the parts are put into use, the attachment 3a forming the closure member is broken off at the annular notch 8 serving as a weakening point; it then rests, as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1, on part of the inner surface of the hose 4, over a point at which it changes from a circular to an oval cross-sectional shape without the approach 3a allowing the flow of the liquid prevented.
Once the device has been emptied, it is not refilled, but thrown away.
The device described has like the previously known that was mentioned at the beginning, u. a. the advantage that it can only be used once and therefore the user can be sure that the contents of the device are in the sterilized state that it was in when it was manufactured. Compared to the previously known device, it has the advantage that it can be manufactured at low cost.
