It is known that etching effects can be produced on synthetic fibers dyed with disperse dyes by first dyeing the substrate with disperse dyes using one of the customary dyeing processes, fully fixing the dye and then printing white and colored fonts according to known regulations, in known Way fixed and treated. Such an already fixed coloring requires relatively large amounts of etching agents to produce the colored etching.
B. zinc sulfoxylate-formaldehyde. It is practically impossible to produce a wide range of disperse dyes that are resistant to these amounts of caustic. In general, only a few yellow disperse dyes are to be used for this purpose.
A process has now been found for producing etching effects on dyeings or prints with disperse dyes on textile fabrics made from synthetic fibers, which is characterized in that the textile material is dyed by padding, for example paddling, or by printing with etchable disperse dyes applies and, if necessary, dries at mild temperatures,
prints an etching paste with etch-resistant disperse dyes on the not yet fixed coloring or applies a coloring with mixtures of etch-resistant and etch-resistant disperse dyes, optionally drying it in between, and printing an etching paste over it without coloring, the etching paste being a sulfoxylate, for example formaldehyde, as a reductive etchant Contains sulfoxylates or acetaldehyde sulfoxylate, or a tin salt, and in which case each subsequent intermediate drying and then for example a)
With pressurized steam at 1.5 to 2.5 atmospheres or b) first with saturated steam and then with dry heat or c) first with saturated steam and then with superheated steam at 170 to 190 ° C. From Melliand Textilberichte Volume 39 (1958), pages 292 to 297, it is known to produce etch reserves on polyester fabric by first preprinting the etch reserve and then overprinting it, dried or wet on wet, with the base color, which contains an etchable disperse dye.
If the preprinted etching paste is dried in between, there is uncontrollable partial decomposition of the unstable reducing agent. In this way, a non-uniform etching effect is achieved which can cause considerable unevenness. If you work without intermediate drying, you get blurred contours and strong aureole formation. Furthermore, there is the risk that the preprinted reducing agent will be dragged in when the ground color is applied, which causes uneven ground fixations and pressure rollers and stencils can be added due to the coagulation of thickeners.
Color etching printing processes with selected disperse dyes are known from GB-PS 1 026 236 and 816 930, thiourea dioxide being used as the etching agent. This etchant is not only very expensive, but as an oxidative etchant also has the disadvantage that, in contrast to reductive etching agents, there is a risk of fiber damage.
From GB-PS 748 895 a color etch printing process on polyester material is known, although only vat dyes are mentioned as etch-resistant dyes. Similar processes are known from FR-PS 706 670 and 712 209, in which formaldehyde sulfoxylate or zinc salts are used as the etching agent, but the etching paste in each case is applied to a fixed color.
From Schaeffer, Encyclopedia of the entire textile finishing, page 34, it is generally known to use reduction or oxidation etching for the discharge printing. Sulfoxylate etching, tin salt etching or tin dust etching can be used as reduction etching.
The use of tin chloride together with selected disperse dyes for colored etching of acetate and nylon fabrics is known from Melliand Textilberichte, Volume 37 (1956), pages 835 to 836. However, it is not mentioned there that it is particularly advantageous to apply the colored ink to a non-fixed base color.
According to the method, all textile materials which can be dyed with disperse dyes, especially polyester, cellulose triacetate, cellulose 2 1/2 acetate and polyamide fibers, are suitable as textile fabrics, in particular woven and knitted fabrics, made of synthetic fibers.
The disperse dyes known under this term and suitable for application to the textile materials referred to above, for example those from the series of the azo and antraquinone dyes, are suitable as disperse dyes for the production of colored etchings and ground dyeings by the process of the present invention. Practically all thickeners that are resistant to the additives in the etching pastes are suitable as thickeners.
The printing pastes contain sulfoxylates as etching agents, for example formaldehyde sulfoxylates or acetaldehyde sulfoxylates or tin salts. In addition, additions of setting accelerators, glycols or thiodiglycol and anthraquinone are required. When using sulfoxylates, the effect is also improved by formaldehyde, urea and melamine ether.
The pad solution for the stock suitably contains small amounts of thickening substances, fixing accelerators and weak oxidizing agents, such as. B. the sodium salt of m-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid, and optionally weak fixed organic acids, such as. B. citric or tartaric acid, or acidic salts, such as. B. monosodium phosphate.
With the method according to the invention it is possible, with the use of only small amounts of etchant, about 1/3 of the usual amount, to produce a wide range of disperse dyes which are etch-resistant under these conditions and which enable a color scale from yellow to black. It is also possible to use those dyes for pre-coloring which are normally stated to be insufficiently etchable. In addition to these technical advantages, the method according to the invention is also economically advantageous since the etching colors are fixed together with the color to be etched and the previous costly fixing of the color is dispensed with.
The following exemplary embodiments are intended to explain the working principle according to the invention without, however, restricting it in any way.
The color index numbers given in the examples for the dyes used were taken from the 3rd edition of 1971. Example 1 50 parts by weight of the liquid commercial form of the dispersion dye of the following constitution
