Description
Reaction vessel equipped with a stirrer
The invention relates to a reaction vessel provided with an agitator and containing a liquid, in which the shaft shaft of the agitator is inserted from the lower container base into the reaction space and is sealed by mechanical seals. In a known manner, reaction vessels in which mixing operations are carried out are equipped with stirrers which are introduced into the apparatus from above. In the case of large apparatuses, however, this has the disadvantage that considerable problems arise in the mounting of the engine shaft. Particularly when long shafts have to be arranged overhung, taking into account the operating conditions (e.g. severe corrosion or solids in the stirring liquid).
To avoid this disadvantage, agitators have already been designed, the shaft of which is inserted into the reaction chamber from the bottom of the vessel. Both packing glands and mechanical seals are used to seal the shaft in these agitators. However, the previous designs have the disadvantage that when the reaction vessel is filled with highly corrosive liquids or liquids with solids, the sealing element comes into direct contact with the latter. The subject of the invention is a reaction vessel which avoids this disadvantage.
According to the invention, it is proposed that a space be arranged above the mechanical seal on the shaft shaft into which an inert liquid or gaseous barrier agent is introduced, which is held between the container liquid and the mechanical seal and thus prevents the container liquid from entering the mechanical seal.
In the accompanying drawing, the invention is shown in one embodiment.
1 shows a reaction container with the agitator arranged below it and the agitator shaft introduced through the container bottom, which has the mechanical seal and liquid barrier according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows on a larger scale the mechanical seal according to the invention with the liquid barrier.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 designates the lower base of the reaction vessel, 2 the welded-on stirrer nozzle and 3 the shaft of the stirrer shaft, on which a cap 4 is located.
An annular gap 13 is formed by a pipe 5 in the stirrer connector 2, which in the drawing is connected to the interior of a hollow screw 10 in the intermediate flange 6. Below the flange 7 are the two rings 8 and 9 of the mechanical seal.
The cap 4 is firmly and tightly connected in a suitable manner to the stirrer shaft 3 (pressed on, screw connection) and, like the tube 5, is made of a chemically resistant material, e.g. B. Teflon (registered trademark).
The way the container works is as follows:
Through the hollow screw 10, the annular gap 13 and the annular space 12 between the tube 5 and the cap 4 are filled with an inert gas or an inert liquid so that the liquid inside the container 11 can only reach the edge 4 'of the cap 4 and is effectively kept away from the mechanical seal. The supply of the locking means through the hollow screw 10 (other types of supply are also possible) can be adapted to the respective operating conditions as desired.
Excess blocking agent enters the container from the annular gap. The stationary counter ring 8 and the sliding ring 9 of the mechanical seal only come into contact with the introduced locking means, and wear and tear from solids in the stirring liquid or chemical attack thereof is avoided.
