Chainless mercerising machine In the case of chained mercerising machines, it is known that the recoil of the fabric caused by the action of the lye should be prevented by the fact that the goods zigzag through a series of top and bottom rollers that are firmly on top of one another, thereby wrapping tightly around all the rollers. The pressure of the upper rollers resting with their own weight between two lower rollers is intended to hold the fabric tight and prevent it from springing back.
In spite of this, such a return cannot be completely avoided, since the goods give a little with each loop on the way from one gap to the other, whereby the amounts add up according to the number of rollers. The consequence of this is that warp-free mercerized goods remain stretched in the middle of the web, and a loose appearance of the goods shows that the edges are somewhat denser as a result of the setback, since the warp threads are closer together.
The invention avoids this disadvantage in that, in the area of the edges of the goods passing through, soft, elastic spreader rollers run under pressure on the top rollers, the axes of which are inclined to the axes of the top roller in the horizontal plane at a certain angle so that when Unrolling a train of goods towards the edge is created.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. It shows: FIG. 1 a longitudinal cross section through the row of rollers and FIG. 2 a plan view of the row of rollers.
As the drawing shows, are at the ends of the top rollers 2 in the horizontal plane around the Win angle a inclined, short spreader rollers 3, which are made of a soft and highly elastic material or are designed as pneumatic rollers. The inclination is chosen in such a way that the goods edge is stretched towards the end of the roller in the direction of the goods throughput. As a result, the return that occurs between every two columns is brought back, so that the goods leave the mercerising machine in the same width as they were introduced on the entry side.
By varying the pressure of the wide stretching rollers 3 on the top rollers 2, a more or less large contact surface is created in the gap, which is indicated in Fig. 2 with the letters b and c. By inclining the spreader rollers in the vertical plane by the angle P, it is also possible to vary the spreading effect in the area of the spreader rollers in such a way that it becomes increasingly stronger towards the edge, as indicated by the dashed line c is indicated.
Another possible variation arises from the fact that the spreader rollers can be displaced axially parallel by an amount a at a set angle. Of course, the spreader rollers also need to be shifted transversely to the direction of travel of the web in order to be able to move goods of different widths.
In addition, the spreader rollers can also be driven and thus work with a negative setting of the angle a. The spreader rollers can also be used to stretch the goods across the width of the incoming goods.
The greater the pressure selected by the spreader rollers on the top rollers, the larger the contact surfaces b or c created in the gap and thus the more intense the pulling action of the roller towards the edge.
