Description

Roof bow for vehicle superstructures In vehicle bodies, especially of cars, curved roof bows are arranged transversely to the vehicle axis at certain intervals, which extend from the top strap of one to the top strap of the other long side and carry the roof skin. These roof bows often have the shape of a U or
EMI0001.0007
whereby the outer roof skin is attached to the web of the U-profiles.

These profiles must be bent to match the curvature of the roof, which often leads to undesirable deformations due to buckling of the legs.

The present invention relates to such
EMI0001.0014
Roof bow, which has various advantages due to a special design. According to the invention, the flanges are thicker than the web of the
EMI0001.0018
and they also protrude from one another over the ends of the U-legs.

The flexibility of the profile is increased by the special dimensions of the flanges. The thick flanges mean an accumulation of material through which the neutral line is shifted closer to the flanges during bending, and the amount of material is shifted more into the zone of the profile that is subjected to pressure during bending, which prevents the legs and flanges from buckling sideways during bending becomes. This effect can be reinforced by a longitudinal rib on the longitudinal edges of the flanges.

The opposing projections of the flanges allow the screwless insertion of a cover profile for the attachment of panels for the interior cladding.

In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the roof bow according to the invention are shown in cross section. The roof bow consists of the
EMI0001.0032
1 with the two flanges 2 at the free ends of the U-legs. The thickness of the flanges 2 is greater than the thickness of the web of the U-profile. The flanges 2 protrude from one another with the projections 4 over the ends of the U-legs,

so that a deck profile 5 can be used with resilient legs. The cover profile 5 presses the plates 6 of the inner cladding onto the flanges 2. The cover profile 5 can be made of plastic, so that since no screws are required for insertion, there is no continuous thermal bridge between the outer wall and the interior, which causes condensation to form on the inside is avoided. On the web 3 of the U-profile, the outer roof skin 7 is attached.

According to Fig. 2, the ends of the U-legs are buttoned to the outside, so that they each form a groove 8 with the projections 4 of the flanges 2, which are used for a set of the cover profile 5..An den Längrän the flanges 2 is still a longitudinal rib 9 each is arranged.
