Description

Process for ensuring the waterproofing of an expansion joint separating two construction elements such as two concrete slabs, and sealing gasket for the anise using this process The present patent relates to a process for ensuring the sealing. sealing of an expansion joint separating two construction elements such as two concrete slabs, and a seal for the implementation of this process.

Many means have been sought to prevent foreign bodies, as well as water, from entering the expansion joints separating two building elements, for example two concrete slabs.

The solutions proposed, which mainly consist in pouring bitumen into the expansion joint, are not entirely satisfactory because the material does not lend itself well to variations in the spacing of the elements due to variations in temperature, so that it There is generally a gap between the filling material and the elements, which gap is easy for water to infiltrate.

The aim of the present invention is to remedy this drawback.

The process that is the subject of the patent is characterized by the fact that an air chamber is placed inside a sealing gasket of U-shaped cross section, said gasket provided with said air chamber. in the expansion joint, inflates said air chamber so that it acts on the legs of the section of the seal to apply them closely against the two elements, then deflates said air chamber and finally withdraws it, so that the seal adheres, by each of the legs of its section,

to one of the said elements.

The sealing gasket for carrying out the aforementioned process is characterized by the fact that it is of U-shaped cross section, made of a frame coated with a flexible and compressible adhesive coating, internally covered with a neck-.

che of non-stick material, as well as on the outside, but on the middle part of its section only, this lining being intended to be interposed between said elements, in said expansion joint, and to adhere to said elements, via the outer face legs of the U constituting its section, the outer layer of non-stick material extending to the top of these legs to allow them to move away or approach one another according to the spacing of said elements.

The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the lining for carrying out the process which is the subject of the patent.

The figure is a sectional view of part of two concrete slabs, at the location of their expansion joint, between which the present sealing gasket is placed, shown during its placement. The two concrete slabs shown are designated respectively by 1 and 2. They are separated by a free space 3 constituting an expansion joint. This expansion joint is covered with a metal plate 4.

A sealing gasket is interposed between the two slabs 1 and 2, in the expansion joint 3. This gasket comprises a reinforcement 5, of U-shaped cross section, formed of a metal mesh, coated with a coating 6, in bituminous rubber, a flexible and compressible material adhering to concrete. A non-stick polyethylene sheet 7 internally covers the coating 6. A waterproof sheet of. polyethylene 8, also non-stick, externally covers the middle part of the unit 6 and extends to the top of the legs constituting its section.

Finally, an air chamber 9 is arranged inside the seal.

Then. of the establishment of the sealing gasket, the latter is introduced, provided with the air chamber 9, between the two slabs 1 and 2, in the expansion joint 3, in the position shown in sins. The air chamber 9 is then inflated, so that it applies the two legs of the section of the seal against the two tiles to which they adhere. Pressure is maintained in the air chamber for as long as necessary for satisfactory and lasting adhesion to occur.

The inner tube is then deflated and then removed. The non-stick polyethylene sheet 7 makes it possible to easily remove the air chamber 9 which slides without adhering.

Thanks to the outer layer 8 of polyethylene, the upper part of the sealant does not adhere to the slabs 1 and 2, so that these slabs can move apart and come closer, depending on the temperature variations, without that internal stresses occur inside the gasket.

As a variant, the frame 5 may be formed of a fabric or be made of nylon. The sheets of non-stick material 7 and 8 may be made of polyvinyl chloride, such as the product brand Plasto-syn.
