Additional patent to main patent no. 369838 Process for the production of monoazo dyes The present invention relates to a process for the production of monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0004
wherein R is an acyl radical, such as.
B. a low molecular, unsubstituted or substituted carboalkyl or carbalkoxy radical, an optionally substituted carbocycloalkyl, carbocycloalkoxy, carbaralkyl, carbaralkoxy or carbaryl radical, or the radical of a 1.
Diazine or triazine containing up to 3 halogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms, R1 is a low molecular weight, optionally substituted alkyl radical, an optionally substituted cycloalkyl or aralkyl radical or an aryl radical and R_ is hydrogen or a low molecular weight alkyl radical, and in which the sulfonic acid group is 5-, 6- or 7 position.
The inventive method consists in that 1 mol of the diazo compound from an amine of the formula
EMI0001.0034
with 1 mole of an azo component of the formula
EMI0001.0037
couples, preferably in a strongly to weakly acidic medium at temperatures of 5 to 30 C.
The new monoazo dyes are mostly red powder and dye wool, silk, artificial polyamide fibers and leather from neutral to weakly acidic dye baths in red shades of very good lightfastness and good to very good wet fastness (wash, milled, water and perspiration fastness) .
Monoazo dyes, in which R denotes the remainder of a di- or triazine compound containing 1 to 3 halogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms, are also suitable for dyeing and printing cotton and fibers made from regenerated cellulose in red, lightfast and wetfast shades.
As the radical R are mainly the alkyl-CO- and alkoxy-CO groups with up to 6 carbon atoms in the alkyl or alkoxy radical, which can also carry halogen atoms, hydroxy, methoxy, ethoxy and optionally substituted phenoxy groups, which Cyclohexyl-CO-, cyclohexyl-O-CO-, benzyl-CO-, benzyl-O-CO-,
Phenyl-ethyl-CO-, phenylethyl-O-CO groups and the phenyl-CO groups substituted by, for example, halogen atoms, hydroxyl, alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino groups. Of particular interest are the 1,3,5-triazine radicals containing 1 or 2 halogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms or the
2 or 3 pyrimidine radicals containing halogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms. The radical R1 is preferably an alkyl radical, such as. B. methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl; the benzyl radical or a phenyl radical, which z. B. alkyl or alkoxy groups with 1 to 5 carbon atoms or halogen atoms (fluorine, chlorine, bromine) can carry.
In the examples below, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 30.4 parts of 2-amino - 5 - acetylamino-4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfone are finely ground and added to 300 parts of water, 200 parts of ice and 35 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid Mix 5-10 homogeneously. A solution of 8 parts of sodium nitrite in 30 parts of water is then added dropwise within half an hour.
The mixture is stirred at 5-10 until the reaction to nitrous acid has disappeared, and then the largely separated diazo body is poured into the 20-30 warm solution of 22.3 parts with stirring. 2-Amino-naphthalene-5-sulfonic acid in 300 parts of water, 10 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and 30 parts of crystallized sodium acetate. After the coupling has ended, the dye is salted out with sodium chloride,
if necessary, cleans it by dissolving it from sodium carbonate solution and dries it. It is a red powder that dissolves in hot water with a yellow-red color and dyes wool, silk, leather and synthetic polyamide fibers from a neutral to weakly acidic bath in scarlet red shades of good fastness properties.
The procedure for dyeing is as follows: 100 parts of woolen cloth are placed in a dyebath consisting of 5000 parts of water, 10 parts of anhydrous sodium sulfate and 1 part of dye. The dye liquor is heated to 100 "in the course of a quarter of an hour, held at this temperature for half an hour, 20 parts of a 10 / o, aqueous acetic acid solution are added and the dyeing is ended by heating to 100 for a further 30 minutes.
During the dyeing process, the evaporating water is continuously replaced. The red-dyed wool is then taken from the liquor, rinsed with water and dried. Example 2 35.9 parts of 2-amino-5-chloroacetylamino-4'-chloro-1,1'-diphenylsulfone are dianotized as given in Example 1.
The suspension of the diazo compound is allowed to run into the 20-30 warm solution of 22.3 parts of 2-amino-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 300 parts of water, 10 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution and 30 parts of crystallized sodium acetate with stirring. After the coupling has ended, the reaction mass is worked up as in Example 1.
The dye is a red powder that dissolves in hot water with a red color and dyes wool, silk, leather and synthetic polyamide fibers from a neutral to weakly acidic bath in red shades with good fastness properties.
Example 3 32 parts of 2-amino-4-carbethoxyamino-1,1'-diphenylsulfone are di-anotized as indicated in Example 1 and in the manner indicated in Example 1 to 22.3 parts of 2- Amino-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid coupled.
The dye obtained provides yellow-red genuine dyeings.
