EMI0001.0005

So besitzen z.

Process for the preparation of acidic monoazo dyes The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of acidic monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0005
where x and y are hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, alkoxy or alkylsulfonyl optionally substituted with non-water-solubilizing substituents, z is the hydroxy or amino group, w optionally substituted alkyl, mononuclear aryl,
Carbalkoxy or a CO NH-R group, where R is hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or aryl, aryl is a mono- or binuclear, optionally substituted aryl radical, and acyl is one of the two radicals Ri CO- and R.-0- CO- mean
where R1 is an optionally substituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical and R2 is an optionally substituted aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical.
The dye molecule can contain hydrophilic groups as substituents of the radicals w, acyl and aryl if their presence is necessary for sufficient water solubility of the dye. The process according to the invention is characterized in that 1 mol of the diazo compound is obtained from an aminosulfonic acid of the formula
EMI0001.0046
with 1 mole of a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0048
clutch.
As is well known, hydrophilic groups are understood to mean those groups which are capable of forming hydrogen bonds with water. The water-solubilizing effect varies depending on the strength and number of these hydrogen bonds. So have z.
B. the sulfonic acid and carboxylic acid groups have a strong and the optionally further substituted sulfonic acid amide group, depending on the size of the substituents, a more (with the unsubstituted sulfonic acid amide group) or less (with the heavily substituted sulfonic acid amide group) pronounced water-solubilizing effect, as rend other groups, such as
B. the hydroxyl, amino, acetylamino, methylsulfonyl, ether or pus group, exert an even less effect, but can make a considerable contribution to the water solubility of the monoazo dye by their accumulation.
The new acidic monoazo dyes of the formula (I) dye wool, silk, leather and artificial polyamide fibers from neutral to weakly acidic baths in yellow shades. The dyeings show good light fastness and good to very good wet fastness properties if the number and strength or water-solubilizing groups present in addition to the sulfonic acid group of the D-azo component are adapted to the molecular weight of the monoazo dye.
To achieve good wet fastness properties, for example, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid must be combined with a diazo component of the formula (II) containing a high molecular weight acyl radical, while a 1-phenyl-3 -methyl-5-pyrazolone, which contains no or only weak water-solubilizing groups,
even in combination with, for example, the simple acetyl derivatives of the formula (1I) yields monoazo dyes which have good to very good fastness to washing, flexing and perspiration.
The aminosulfonic acids of the formula (II), which are used as starting materials in the present process, can be prepared from the corresponding 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl compounds, for example from 4,4'-diamino-1,1 '-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-dichloro-1,1'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-dimethyl-l, l' -diphenyl- 5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethyl-1,1'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-dimethoxy-1,
l'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-di- (trifluoromethyl) -1, l'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid, 4,4'-diamino-2,2 ' -di (methylsulfonyl) -1,1'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid or 4,4 'diamino-3,3', 6,6'-tetramethyl-1,1'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid. For the purpose of acylation, the aqueous solutions of the alkali metal salts of these sulfonic acids are in a known manner with aliphatic,
treated cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic acid anhydrides or acid chlorides, with predominantly only the free-standing amino group being blocked.
As acylating agents, in addition to acetic anhydride, for example, the chlorides of chloroacetic acid, propionic acid, chloropropionic acid, butyric acid, caprylic acid, 2-ethylcaproic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, butylglycoloxyacetic acid,
Phenoxy- and cresoxyacetic acids, benzoic acid, mono- and dichlorobenzoic acids, 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid, phenylacetic acid, cyclohexanoic or furanic acid. Particularly valuable acylating agents are the chloroformic acid esters of various aliphatic, cycloaliphatic,
araliphatic and heterocyclic aliphatic alcohols such as ethyl, 2-chloro-ethyl, butyl, hexyl, octyl, decyl, lauryl or cetyl alcohol, as well as chloroformic acid benzyl, cyclohexyl, furfuryl,
. tetrahydrofurfuryl or morpholyl ethyl ester. Excellent acylating agents are the chloroformic acid esters of some ether alcohols such as ethylene glycol monoethyl, butyl, hexyl, octyl or phenyl ethers as well as diethylene glycol monomethyl,
-butyl- or -phenyläthe.rs.
The 1-aryl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones themselves as well as their halogen atoms (e.g. chlorine, bromine), alkyl groups (e.g. methyl, ethyl), are particularly suitable as coupling components of the formula (11I), Alkoxy groups (e.g. methoxy, ethoxy), the cyano group, low molecular weight alkanoylamino groups (e.g.
B. acetylamino), the sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, methylsulfonyl, the sulfonic acid amide group or a further substituted S.ulfonsäureamid'gruppe substituted derivatives, whereby the aryl nucleus can of course carry one or more such substituents.
Among the further substituted sulfonic acid amide groups, the sulfonic acid methyl amide, dimethyl amide, -2'-hydroxy-ethyl amide, -3'-methoxy-propyl amide, -phenyl amide, -N-methyl-N-phenyl amide- and -N-2'-hydroxy-ethyl-N-phenyl-amide groups a special mention.
Among the other 1-aryl-5-pyrazolone derivatives which are suitable for the present process, the following are to be mentioned: 1,3-diphenyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl- or 1-naphthyl-5-pyrazolone -3-carboxylic acid methyl or ethyl ester, -3-carboxamide,
-3-carboxylic acid methyl or -2'-hydroxyethyl amide "-3-carboxylic acid phenylamide. Furthermore, the 1-aryl-3-methyl-5-aminopyrazoles and their substituents which are the same as the 1-aryl-3-methyl-5 = derivatives bearing pyrazolones can be used as coupling components of the formula (11I).
If the 1-aryl-pyrazole derivatives of the formula (III) contain two aromatic nuclei or heavy substituents which do not or scarcely make water-soluble, the presence of a highly water-soluble group is necessary so that the monoazo dye formed therefrom has sufficient water-solubility.
The starting materials of the formula (1I) used in the present method are preferably diazotized indirectly. The diazo compounds precipitate practically quantitatively as intensely yellow to orange colored, mostly well crystallized precipitates, so that they can be sucked off without loss.
The sucked off and suspended in water of 0-10 C diazo compound is advantageous for coupling with the neutral or weakly acidic [if the coupling component of the formula (III) is soluble in water with a neutral to weakly acidic reaction thanks to the presence of a sulfonic acid group] or weak to strongly alkaline [if the coupling component of the formula (III) is only soluble in weakly to strongly alkaline solution] solution of the azo component mixed.
Thanks to the high coupling energy of the diazo compounds present, the components are combined quickly and uniformly even in the presence of acetic acid. The monoazo dyes formed, often well crystallized, are filtered off and dried, if appropriate after the addition of common salt.
To prepare monoazo dyes capped with high molecular weight acyl radicals, the monoacetyl derivatives of the formula (II) obtainable in almost theoretical yield can be diazotized and the diazo compounds obtained can be coupled to the azo components of the formula (III).
The acetyl group can then be split off from the dye obtained by saponification and the free amino group formed is then closed with the higher molecular acyl radical by known processes.
In the examples below, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 47.6 parts of 2,2'-dimethyl-4-amino-4'-carbodecyl-oxyamino-l, l'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid are good as the sodium salt in 800 parts of ice water stirred and then at 0-5 in succession with a 20% solution of 7 parts of sodium nitrite and 30 parts of 301% hydrochloric acid. After a few hours, the yellow diazo compound is sucked off,
washed with about 100 parts of ice water and in the solution of 33 parts of 1- (2 ', 5'-dichlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid in 1000 parts of water and 40 parts of crystallized sodium acetate at 0 --5 stirred in. After coupling has ended, the yellow dye is precipitated at 70-80 by adding about 170 parts of sodium chloride, filtered off cold and dried in vacuo.
It is a yellow powder that dissolves easily in hot water and dyes wool and nylon from a neutral bath in pure yellow shades of very good lightfastness and very good wetfastness.
This dye can be used as follows: In a dyebath consisting of 5000 parts of water, 10 parts of anhydrous sodium sulfate and 1 part of dye, 100 parts of woolen cloth are placed at 40. The dye liquor is heated to 100 in the course of a quarter of an hour, it is kept at this temperature for half an hour, and 20? Add a 10% aqueous acetic acid solution and finish the dyeing by heating to 100 for a further 30 minutes.
During the dyeing process, the evaporating water is continuously replaced. The yellow-dyed wool is then taken from the liquor, rinsed with water and dried. Example 2 33.4 parts of 3,3'-dimethyl-4-amino-4'-acetylamino-1,1'-diphenyl-5-sulfonic acid are dissolved as the sodium salt in 300 parts of water and at 0-5, a 20% solution of 7 parts of sodium nitrite and 30 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid are added in succession.
After a few hours, the suspension of the yellow diazo compound is stirred into a cold solution of 21 parts of 1- (2'-chloro-6'-methyl) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in 500 parts of water, 10 parts of 30 a Aiger sodium hydroxide solution and 30 parts of calcined sodium carbonate.
After coupling has ended, the dye is salted out, filtered off and. dried. It is a yellow powder that dissolves in hot water with a yellow color, and it turns wool and polyamide fibers. dyes neutral to weakly acidic bath in yellow shades of good fastness properties.
The table below contains other acidic monoazo dyes which can be obtained by the process of Examples 1 and 2 and which are obtained by their diazo and coupling components [columns (I) and (II)] and by the color of their dyeings on wool [column (III)] Marked are.
