Description

Process for the production of workpieces from artificial stone with a synthetic resin surface
The present invention relates to a method for producing workpieces from artificial stone with a synthetic resin surface.

Due to the porosity of the artificial stone, its surface is very sensitive and soiled very quickly, so that it becomes unsophisticated. This disadvantage of artificial stone is becoming more widespread in the construction industry, e.g. B. in the household t as a sink and shower basin, so that a way to improve its surface has long been sought.

So z. B. the surface is trowelled and fluated and the artificial stone mass is compacted as much as possible by Betondich processing medium in the mixing water.

Attempts have also been made to apply a layer of plastic or varnish to the finished cast stone workpiece to make the surface beautiful and resistant.

All of these attempts and other methods have not given satisfactory results and have the main disadvantage that the artificial stone treated in this way is much more expensive than other Werksqtoffe, such as. B. Earthenware.

The purpose of the method according to the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to produce workpieces from artificial stone with a surface which does not become unsightly.

For this purpose, according to the invention, the method for producing workpieces from artificial stone with a synthetic resin coating is characterized in that a first synthetic resin layer and, after hardening, further synthetic resin layers are applied to an elastic film form that lines a rigid core shape, each of which is coated with a granular mineral before hardening are sprinkled, whereupon the artificial stone mass is poured in after it has hardened, and that after the hardening of the workpiece produced in this way, the film form outside the core form is removed from the workpiece for the purpose of easier demolding.

The method according to the invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, for example; the single figure shows an exemplary embodiment of a mold, which is also the subject of the invention, for carrying out the process according to the invention.

In the drawing, 1 denotes a core shape, e.g. B. made of wood, metal or artificial stone. A film form 2 made of 1-3 mm thick polyvinyl chloride or other plastic is brought into this rigid form.

This film form is of course designed so that it fits snugly everywhere on the inner surface of the form 1, but can be pulled off from it.

A synthetic resin such as B. polyester resin or ethoxylin resin, colored or undyed, with or without filler, is painted or sprayed onto the smooth inner surface of the mold and allowed to cure.

Then one or more additional layers of this synthetic resin are applied and immediately, i. H. before hardening, sprinkled with sand or another granular mineral. This granulate is used to bind the synthetic resin layer with the artificial stone mass. After these further layers have hardened, the artificial stone mass is poured into the mold and crushed or shaken in for the purpose of compacting it. After the artificial stone mass has hardened, the finished artificial stone product can be removed from the mold. For this purpose, the workpiece with the film mold 2 is first lifted off the core mold 1, whereupon the elastic film mold can be easily pulled off the workpiece and put back into the core mold for new use.

If, as in the example shown, a sink or shower tray with a fitting, such as B. a drain valve 3, are obtained, this valve 3, as shown in the drawing, placed on the film mold 2 and by means of a core mold 1 penetrating Ge threaded rod 4 and nuts 5 pressed onto the mold.

So that the drain valve 3 can later be screwed out of the workpiece, if necessary, it is provided with an external thread onto which a pipe section 6 with an internal thread is screwed.

This pipe section is anchored in the stone core of the workpiece when it is manufactured, and the drain valve 3 itself can easily be unscrewed for assembly and transport.

The artificial stone product obtained in this way is extremely beautiful, is insensitive to acids and does not get dirty. In the event of mechanical damage to the artificial stone product, the damage can easily be repaired.

Depending on the intended aesthetic effect, the synthetic resin layers can be transparent, whereby the artificial stone structure is fully effective, or they can be colored, white or black. On the other hand, dyes can also be added to the artificial stone so that certain color effects can be created in combination with a colored synthetic resin layer.

The high quality of the surface of workpieces obtained by the method described and their appealing appearance is due to the fact that, in contrast to the previously usual methods, the surface is generated first, which comes to the absolutely smooth film shape and only then is the stone core of the workpiece formed becomes. So far, the procedure has always been reversed and first the stone core is produced and its surface then worked on to the desired or possible finish. The elimination of this final processing in the present process lowers the production costs quite considerably.
