Machine for laying a strip of material around packs of blanks or the like
The invention relates to a machine for laying a strip of material drawn off the roll around a blank package or the like, which is pushed together with the strip of material into the cell of a rotating cellular wheel.
In the known machines of this type, the material strip is brought in front of a cell of the wheel by pulling or gripping members arranged separately from the cell wheel and is cut off by a cutting device which is also arranged separately. The separate arrangement of the star feeder, the preferred or gripping elements and the cutting device requires extensive drive and control elements, which means that these machines are extremely expensive and prone to failure.
The essence of the present invention consists in the fact that the cellular wheel is provided with grippers for gripping and pulling the material strip forward and with knives for cutting off the material strip.
Due to the simultaneous arrangement of the gripper and the knife on the cellular wheel, with the rotation of the same, both the front end of the material strip fed from the supply roll can be grasped and brought in front of the cell opening and the rear end of the material strip can be cut off.
The number of grippers and knives expediently corresponds to the number of cells, with each cell, viewed in the direction of movement of the cellular wheel, being preceded by a gripper and a knife being connected downstream. The distance between the grippers and knives is advantageously dimensioned so that a material strip is obtained, the length of which corresponds to the circumference of the blank package, in addition to an overlapping piece.
The distance between the grippers and the knives in relation to the assigned cell can be selected so that the blank package inserted into the cell is encompassed on three sides by the material strip, while the part of the strip intended for covering the fourth side including an overlap piece over the in Direction of movement protrudes from the front edge of the cell.
This part of the strip, including the overlap piece, can be brought in front of the fourth side of the blank package by turning the cellular wheel and placed against it by inserting it into a pressure channel. The pressure channel is expediently movement-controlled in such a way that it approaches the cell opening when the cellular wheel is stationary and moves away from it when the cellular wheel rotates. In the area of the pressure channel, a device can be arranged which applies an adhesive label to the point of overlap of the material strip during the passage of the blank packs.
The invention is described below using an exemplary embodiment. As illustrated with the drawing, with a strip of material, for. B. a paper strip, to be wrapped blank packets 1 brought by an intermittently switched feed wheel 2 in front of the cell opening 3 of a cell wheel 4. On the cellular wheel 4 are arranged according to the number of cells 5, grippers 6 and 7 knives. The arrangement of the grippers 6 and the knives 7 is such that each cell 5, viewed in the direction of movement of the cellular wheel 4, is preceded by a gripper and a knife is connected downstream. The task of the gripper is now to grasp the strip of material 9 fed in from the supply roll 8 and to bring it in front of the cell opening with the rotation of the cellular wheel.
The knife 7 downstream of the cell meets during the rotation with a stationary angeordne th knife 10 and separates the material strip 9 at its rear end from the supply roll. The part of the material strip 9 which protrudes beyond the guide roller 11 after the separation extends into the area of the grippers and is gripped by them and pulled forward to initiate a new operation.
After the rotation is complete, the gripper releases the front end of the material strip, and a brush 12 arranged in the area of the gripper secures the position of the material strip 9 until the blank package 1 is pushed into the cell 5.
The blank package 1 with the material strip is now pushed into the cell through the slide 13, the material strip lying around the blank package in a U-shape. The length of the strip of material is such that a part of the strip protrudes beyond the edge of the cell after the package has been pushed into the cell. With the rotation of the cellular wheel, this part of the strip is brought in front of the fourth side of the blank package and placed against it in a pressure channel 14. When the blank package is pushed into the pressure channel 14, a pusher 15 is actuated by the slide 13, whereby the blank package passes from the opposite cell into the pressure channel 14. With this movement, the overlapping part of the material strip is folded over by a stationary folding element 16.
The pressure channel 14 is movement-controlled in such a way that it approaches the cell opening when the cellular wheel is at a standstill in order to receive the pushed-out package and that it moves away from the cellular wheel when it rotates. In the area of the pressure channel a device 17 is arranged, by means of which an adhesive label cut from the supply roll 18 with a knife 19 is applied to the overlap point of the material strip during the passage of the blank packets through the channel. In the case of the present exemplary embodiment, a thermoplastically coated strip is used as the label material, which is made adhesive by the heated stamp 20 after it has been separated from the endless belt.
To adapt to the different sizes of the blank packs, the cell walls of both the feed wheel 2 and the cell wheel 4 are adjustable. Furthermore, the grippers 6 and knives 7 attached to the circumference of the cellular wheel can be adjusted so that the length of the material strip 9 can be adapted to the respective size of the blank package.
