Boring tool holder The present invention relates to a boring tool holder. This tool holder is characterized by the fact that it comprises a body having a diametral slot and two longitudinal grooves, diametrically opposed, this slot serving as a housing for two parallelepipedal chisel-holder slides, each having, on one of their lateral faces, an oblique groove, and means for the removable fixing of a chisel, these slides being applied one against the other and movable radially in said diametral housing,
a threaded control ring, rotatably mounted on said body, and two connecting pieces slidably housed in said longitudinal grooves and having, on the one hand, an external thread engaged with said threaded ring and, on the other hand, a control finger engaged in the oblique groove of the corresponding slide, all in such a way that the rotation of said ring produces a simultaneous and opposite displacement of said slides.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the tool holder object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, in partial section, provided with its fixing mandrel.
Fig. 2 is a section, along line II-II of FIG. 1, on an enlarged scale, the fixing mandrel being removed.
Fig. 3 is a section taken along line III-III of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is an end view of the tool holder, with section taken along the line V-V of FIG. 3.
The tool holder shown comprises a cylindrical body 1 whose rear end 1a is threaded so as to allow the attachment of a mandrel 2 having a frustoconical end 2a intended for its mounting in the spindle of a machine, for example d 'a pointing machine. The body 1 has a cylindrical part 1b engaging in a corresponding bore of the mandrel 2 and thus ensuring perfect centering of these two parts relative to one another.
When the mandrel 2 is screwed onto the body 1 of the tool holder, its end abuts axially against a shoulder lc of this body. This shoulder, like the mandrel 2, have two flats 3, respectively 4, serving as a socket for keys making it possible to separate the body 1 from the mandrel 2.
The front end of the body 1 is cut with a wide slot 5 passing right through the body and of rectangular section. In this slot are housed, radially movable and applied against each other, two chisel-holder slides 6, of piped parallel shape.
The cross section of these two slides, taken together, corresponds to that of the slot 5 in which they are housed. Each slide carries a removable chisel 7 engaged in an oblique passage 8 and held in place by a locking screw 9. These chisels can thus be easily replaced.
In a plane perpendicular to that of the slot, the body 1 has two longitudinal grooves 10, diametrically opposed, the front part of which opens into the slot 5. Two connecting pieces 11 are each housed in one of the longitudinal grooves 10.
The rear end of these parts 11 has threads arranged externally at 12, while their front end has a control finger 11a engaged in an oblique groove 13 disposed on the outer side face of the corresponding slide.
The body 1 carries, rotatably mounted on it, a threaded ring 14, screwed onto the threaded parts 12 of the two connecting pieces 11. This ring bears axially on the one hand against a shoulder 1d of the body 1, and on the other hand against the edge of a cap-shaped cover 15, fixed to the end of the body 1 by four screws, not shown, engaged in threaded axial holes 16, visible in FIG. 5. Thus, the ring 14 is prevented from moving axially so that its rotation produces the axial movement of the connecting pieces 11.
Thanks to the engagement of the fingers 11a in the grooves 13 of the slides 6, the latter move radially, in opposite movements, during the axial movements of the connecting pieces. It should be noted that the edge of the cover 15 is hooped by a ring 17 which prevents the cover from deforming. Indeed, the clearances of the cover allowing the passage of the slides are constituted by notches 18 opening on its edge, -which allow the introduction, into the cover, of the slides already provided with the connecting pieces 11. The shrinking ring 17 is mounted on the cover once the sliders are in place, all of which is finally mounted on the body 1.
The body 1 carries an axial screw 19, the head 19a of which passes freely through the cover 15, and which bears, by means of a washer 20, on the sliders 6. This screw makes it possible to block the sliders when they were placed in the desired radial position.
The control ring 14 bears a graduation 21 moving opposite a vernier 22 inscribed on a ring 23 rotatably mounted in friction on the body 1. The friction between the ring 23 and the body 1 is ensured by a wavy spring 24 interposed between these two parts, in an annular groove 25 of the body 1, bearing elastically both on the body 1 and on the ring 23. This allows the graduation 21 to be set to zero without having to turn the control ring 14, which facilitates the adjustment of the tool holder.
Finally, the body 1 is pierced with an axial channel 26, passing right through it, ending at its rear end in a lubricator 27 making it possible to connect this channel to a source of pressurized grease. A radial passage 28 makes the channel 26 communicate with the longitudinal grooves 10 of the body 1. Thus, the grease injected under pressure into the channel 2.6 penetrates all the interstices of the tool holder and not only makes it possible to ensure satisfactory lubrication of its various moving parts, but also to expel from the tool holder any impurities (skin, machining or cleaning fluids) which may have entered them. The centrifugal force acting on this grease during the work of the tool holder tends to the same result.
