2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N-cyclo- hexylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-dicyclohexylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N- xenylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N-4'- phenoxyphenylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N-a- naphthylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N-ss- naphthylamid, 2-Amino-benzolsulfonsäure-N-methyl-N-benzyl- amid,

Process for the production of monoazo dyes The present invention relates to a process for the production of new monoazo dyes which are readily absorbed onto wool even from a neutral to weakly acidic bath and thereby give very pure, very light and wetfast dyeings.
It has been found that valuable orange, yellowish red to bluish red monoazo dyes are obtained if a diazotized 2-amino-benzene-1-sulfonyl compound with the sulfonyl substituent -So, R, in which R is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical, is optionally further substituted in the benzo ring , an aryloxy radical or the radical of a secondary or tertiary amine,
in acidic means with a 2-amino-naphthalenesulfonic acid amide coupling in the 1-position, whose sulfamide nitrogen is substituted by a sulfated organic radical and whose naphthalene ring is optionally further substituted by non-ionic substituents.
The hydrocarbon radical R can be aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic. The substituents forming the secondary or tertiary amine radical can be aliphatic, cyclophatic, araliphatic or aromatic. Substituents which may be present in the amino group-containing benzene ring as well as in the hydrocarbon radical R are those customary in azo dyes, e.g. B.
Halogens, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylcarbonyl, arylcarbonyl and acylated amino groups. Among the diazo components substituted on the aminobenzene ring, preference is given to those which contain nucleophilic substituents such as lower alkyl groups, ether or acylamino groups.
The following amines give, for example, o-diazo-benzene-alkyl-, aralkyl- or -arylsulfones which can be used according to the invention: 2-aminophenyl-1-methyl- or -1-ethyl-sulfone, 2-aminophenyl-1-benzyl-, - 4'-chloro-benzyl- or -3 ', 4'-dichloro-benzyl-sulfone, 2-aminophenyl-la-naphthyl-methyl-sulfone, 4-chloro-2-aminophenyl-1-benzyl-sulfone, 2 -Amino-phenyl-ln-octyl-sulfone, 2-amino-1,1'-diphenyl-sulfone,
4'-methyl-2-amino-1,1'-diphenyl-sulfone, 4'-chloro-2-amino-1,1'-diphenyl-sulfone, 4,4'-dichloro-2-anano-1,1 '-diphenyl-sulfone, 2-aminophenyl-1-ss-naphthylsulfone, 4- or 5- or 3'-acetylamino-2-amino-1,1'-diphenyl-sulfone and the corresponding 4- or 5- or 3'-propionylamino and benzoylamino derivatives and 4- or 5- or 3'-carbomethoxyamino, carboamyloxyamino, carbocyclohexyloxyamino,
Carbobenzyloxyamino or carbophenoxyamino-2-amino-1,1'-diphenylsulfone.
Examples of diazo components with amide groups are: 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-dimethylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-diethylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-dibutylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-2'- carboxy-phenylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-ethyl-N-phenylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-4'-chlorophenylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-3 ',
4'-dichlorophenylamide, 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-ethyl-N-2'-methyl-phenylamide, 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-4'-amyl- or -4'-butyl- phenylamide, 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-ss- hydroxy-ethylamide, 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-Ny-methoxy-propylamide, 5-amyl-2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl- N-phenylamide,
2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-cyclohexylamide, 2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-dicyclohexylamide, 2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-xenylamide, 2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl- N-4'-phenoxyphenylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-nanaphthylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-ss- naphthylamide, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-benzyl - amide,
2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-benzyl-N-phenyl-amide and 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-N-ss- (ar) -tetrahydronaphthylamide.
In o-diazobenzenesulfonic acid aryl esters which can be used according to the invention, the radical R bonded to the sulfonyl group preferably denotes an aryloxy group of the benzene or naphtha series, which can be further substituted as is customary in azo dyes. There come z.
B. the diazonium compounds of the following amines into consideration: 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid phenyl ester, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid 2'- or -4'-methyl-phenyl ester, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid 4'-amyl-phenyl ester , 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid 3 ', 4'-dichlorophenyl ester, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid 2'- or -4'-cyclohexyl-phenyl ester, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid 2'- or -4' -xenyl ester,
2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid 2'- or -4'-phenoxyphenyl ester, 2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-4'-acetyl-, -propionyl-, -butyryl- or -chloroacetyl-aminophenyl ester, 2-Amino-benzenesulfonic acid-4 '-carbomethoxy- amino-, -carbobenzyloxyamino- or -carbo- cyclohexyloxyamino-phenyl ester,
2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-a- or -ss-naphthyl- ester and 2-amino-benzenesulfonic acid-ss- (ar) -tetrahydronaphylester.
The diazo components which can be used according to the invention are obtained by methods known per se. Sulfonic acid amides and esters are produced from o-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid halides by condensation with amines or phenols, and then the nitro group is reduced to the amino group. Alkyl sulfones are z.
B. by alkylation of o-nitrobenzenesulfinic acids and arylsulfones produced by condensation of arylsulfinic acids with mobile halogen-containing nitrobenzenes, whereupon the nitro group is reduced to the amino group.
Preferred diazo components are not further substituted on the amino benzene ring or contain at least no negative substituents there. With such components and especially when the sulfonyl substituent --SO 2R is a sulfamide group, dyes that are particularly lightfast are obtained.
The derivatives of the 2-amino-naphthalene-5-, -6- and -7-sulfonic acids are particularly suitable as coupling components. The coupling components are characterized in that they are substituted on the sulfoamide nitrogen by a sulfated organic radical, while the naphthalene ring itself does not contain any free sulfonic acid group.
However, this can contain other, non-ionic substituents such as halogens, alkoxy groups and, in a suitable manner, especially in the 8-position, also a hydroxyl group.
The sulfated organic radical can belong to the aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic series, in the latter case it advantageously contains no more than two benzene nuclei. In view of the alkali fastness of the dyes, it is desirable that both hydrogen atoms of the sulfamide group are substituted.
It is advantageous if an unsulfated, aliphatic, araliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical is present in addition to the sulfated organic radical. Lower alkyl groups are preferred, especially when the sulfated organic radical is a higher molecular weight alkyl radical or an aralkyl or aryl group.
Examples of coupling components which can be used according to the invention are the 2-amino naphthalene compounds which, in the 5-, 6- or 7-position, have an N- (β-sulfo-ethyl) -N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide, N- (4-sulfo -benzyl) -sulphonic acid amide-, N- (4-chloro-2-sulfo-benzyl) -sulphonic acid amide-, N- (4-sulfobenzyl) -N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (ss-sulfo-ethyl) -N -benzyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (4-sulfo-benzyl) -N-benzyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (4-sulfo-phenyl)
-N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (3-sulfo-phenyl) -N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (4-sulfo-phenyl) -N-ethyl- or N-butVl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- ( 4-sulfo-benzyl) -N-phenyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- (4-sulfo-phenyl) -N-benzyl-sulfonic acid amide-, N- [7-sulfo-naphthyl- (2)] - sulfonic acid amide-, N- [7-sulfonaphthyl- (2)] - N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide or N- [4-sulfonaphthyl- (1)] - N-methyl-sulfonic acid amide group.
Of the coupling components further substituted in the naphthalene ring, the 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene compounds, which contain one of the sulphonic acid amide groups listed above, are particularly valuable.
The coupling components which can be used according to the invention are new and can be prepared, for example, in the following way: 2-Amino-naphthalenesulfonic acids are converted into the corresponding sulfonic acid halides after acylation of the amino and any hydroxyl groups present with phosphorus halides.
These are condensed with sulfated, primary or secondary amines to give the corresponding acylamino-naphthalene-sulfonic acid amides, in which the acylamino and any acyloxy substituents of the naphthalene ring are then saponified.
Of the coupling components, the 2-amino-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid amides are primarily valuable for the production of orange dyes, and the 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid amides for the production of red dyes.
Because of the good wet fastness properties of the dyes obtainable therefrom, coupling components are preferred which contain an alkyl radical, especially a lower alkyl radical, and a sulfated aryl radical, especially a sulfated phenyl or naphthyl radical, on the sulfamide nitrogen.
Accordingly, the most valuable dyes of the present invention are derived from diazo components which are not substituted in the benzene nucleus or are further substituted by nucleophilic, nonionic groups and from 2-amino-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid amides and 2-amino-8-hydroxy-naphthalene-6 sulfonic acid amides with tertiary amide nitrogen.
The o-aminobenzenesulfonyl compounds can be diazotized by customary methods either in inert organic solvents, for example acetic acid or formic acid, with sodium nitrite in the presence of mineral acid, or in concentrated sulfuric acid with nitrosylsulfuric acid.
The 2-amino-naphthalenesulphonic acid amide, alkyl or arylsulphonic acids which couple in the 1-position are advantageously coupled using more or less acidic, aqueous solutions of their alkali salts. The presence of water-soluble organic solubilizers, such as ethyl alcohol or dioxane, is often advantageous.
The azo dyes prepared according to the invention are usually in the form of their alkali salts, e.g. B. the lithium, potassium or sodium salts isolated. As such, they represent orange, red to purple powders, which are easily soluble in hot water.
They dye natural and artificial polypeptide fibers, especially wool, even in neutral baths containing ammonium sulfate with complete exhaustion of the same in extremely even, wet-fast, very pure orange, yellowish red to bluish red shades. However, they can also be dyed from an acidic bath, for example acetic acid, with the same success.
The wool dyeings are distinguished by their remarkable lightfastness, the very good fastness to washing, fulling and sea water and their good alkali fastness.
In the following examples, parts are parts by weight and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
