9 Teilen Natriumnitrit in 15 Teilen Wasser lang sam zugetropft.

Process for the preparation of monoazo dyes The invention relates to a process for the Her position of monoazo dyes which, depending on the composition, can be good to very good drawing on wool in a neutral to weakly acidic bath, through pure shades of the wool dyeings produced therewith, good to very good light fastness and good to very good wet fastness of the same are distinguished.
It has been found that valuable monoazo dyes are obtained if a diazotized 2-amino-benzene-1-sulfonic acid amide which is optionally further substituted on the benzene ring and which is substituted on the tertiary nitrogen atom of the sulfamide group by two saturated hydrocarbon radicals which together have at least eight and preferably ten or more carbon atoms,
in acidic means with an aminonaphthalenesulfonic acid coupling in o-position to the amino group.
In the process according to the invention, compounds which are not further substituted on the benzene ring are primarily suitable as diazo components. If necessary, however, diazo compounds can also be used which contain further nonionic substituents on the benzene ring, in this case preferably positive substituents such as lower alkyl groups, for example the methyl, the ethyl, the iso-propyl,
the tertiary butyl or tertiary amyl group, ether groups, such as, for example, the methoxy, ethoxy, butoxy, phenoxy, o, m or p-methylphenoxy, o, m or p-chloro-phenoxy, o-, m- or p-methoxy-phenoxy groups, or acylamino groups including carbalkoxy and triazinylamino groups,
such as, for example, the acetylamino, chloroacetylamino, ss-bromopropionylamino, benzoylamino, carbomethoxy, carbethoxy, carbobutoxy or the 4-phenylamino-6-chloro-2-triazinylamino group. If appropriate, however, the benzene ring of the diazo component can also contain negative nonionic substituents, for example halogen, such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine,
the trifluoromethyl group, sulfonic acid amide groups, especially the sulfamide groups derived from secondary organic amines, for example the N, N-dimethyl, -diethyl, -dibutyl, -dibenzyl, -dicyclohexyl, -ethylphenyl, -butylcyclohexylsulfamide group, Sulfonic acid ester groups, such as the sulfonic acid phenol ester, the sulfonic acid-o-,
-m- or -p-methylphenyl ester groups, or alkyl or arylsulfonyl groups, such as, for example, the methyl, ethyl, butyl, benzyl, phenyl, p-methylphenyl sulfonyl group. The negative substituents are less favorable in that they generally reduce the lightfastness somewhat and shift the hue bathochromically.
Suitable saturated radicals of the sulfonic acid amide group of the diazo components are aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals, but preferably alicyclic hydrocarbon radicals and, in particular, cyclohexyl radicals.
While lower alkyl groups generally do not impair the lightfastness of the dyes, but reduce the neutral drawability, the higher alkyl groups favor the affinity for wool from neutral baths, but reduce the lightfastness, according to the invention it has been shown that the cyclohexyl group has the advantages of higher aliphatic substituents combined without exhibiting their disadvantages.
The diazo components with at least one cyclohexyl radical are therefore favorable and the diazo components with two cyclohexyl radicals on the nitrogen atom of the sulfamide group are preferred. The coupling components in the process according to the invention are primarily the 2-amino-naphthalene-monosulphonic acids which couple in the 1-position.
their soluble salts into consideration, preferably the compounds with a primary amino group. They give the most lightfast dyes. The 2-amino-naphthalene-5-, -6- or -7-sulfonic acid for orange tones and in particular the 2-amino-8-hydroxy-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid for red tones are mentioned.
Dyes of good drawability and good wet fastness are also obtained using N-alkyl, N-aralkyl, N-cycloalkyl or N-phenyl derivatives of the coupling components listed above, the hues being shifted bathochromically, that is, from orange-red to bluish-red are; However, dyes with secondary amino groups in the coupling component are less lightfast.
Accordingly, the most valuable dyes of the present invention are derived from 2-amino-benzene-l-sulfonic acid dicyclohexylamides as diazo components, which are not substituted in the benzene ring or are further substituted by positive, nonionic groups, and from primary 2- Amino-naphthalene-monosulfonic acids as azo components which can contain a hydroxyl group in the 8-position.
The diazotization of the diazo components used according to the invention can be carried out by customary methods, for example in concentrated sulfuric acid solution with alkali metal nitrites or with nitrosylsulfuric acid; the diazo components can also be diazotized in lower fatty acids such as acetic acid or formic acid in the presence of the necessary amount of aqueous mineral acids with concentrated aqueous solutions of alkali metal nitrite.
The coupling is advantageously carried out with the aqueous solutions of the alkali metal salts of aminonaphthalene monosulfonic acids in an acidic medium and expediently in the presence of alkali metal salts of lower fatty acids for the purpose of blunting the mineral acid, for example in the presence of sodium acetate. Further details can be found in the examples.
In the form of their alkali salts, the new dyes are orange, red to red-brown powders. They are readily soluble in hot water and dye wool, silk and synthetic polypeptide fibers in pure orange to red shades. The wool dyeings are good wet and lightfast.
In the following examples, unless otherwise noted, parts are understood to be parts by weight, and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by volume have the same relationship to parts by weight as cm3 is to grams.

33.6 parts of 2-amino-benzene-l-sulfonic acid-dicyklohexylamide are dissolved in 150 parts of glacial acetic acid with 19 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid and at 10 to 15 the solution of 6,
9 parts of sodium nitrite in 15 parts of water were slowly added dropwise. 50 parts of ice are gradually introduced and the yellowish solution is then added to the solution of the sodium salt of 22.5 parts of 2-amino-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid and 40 parts of crystallized sodium acetate in 500 parts of water at 0-5. The azo dye formed precipitates immediately as a red-orange powder.
The mixture is stirred for several hours at 0 to 10, then warmed to 60, the acid is partially neutralized by sprinkling in 30 parts of sodium carbonate and the dye is filtered off and dried. In the form of the dry sodium salt, he presents a red-orange powder that dissolves in hot water with orange and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a brownish-orange color.
The dye dyes wool in a dyebath containing 5 1 / o ammonium sulfate in uniform orange shades of good lightfastness.
EMI0002.0080
35.0 parts of 5-methyl-2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid-dicyklohexylamid are diazotized with 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 150 parts of glacial acetic acid and 19 parts of sulfuric acid as described in Example 1. The diazo solution diluted with ice water is gradually poured with stirring at 0 to 5 to the solution of the sodium salt of 22,
5 parts of 2-amino-naphthalene-5-sulfonic acid and 50 parts of crystallized sodium acetate in 500 parts of water. The monoazo dye which is formed immediately precipitates as an orange powder. The mixture is stirred for several hours at 0 to 10, then heated to 60, the acid is partially neutralized by sprinkling in 50 parts of sodium carbonate and the orange precipitate is filtered off with suction and dried. The dye is readily soluble in hot water with an orange color; in concentrated sulfuric acid it dissolves with a brown-orange color.
It dyes wool in a liquor containing 501o ammonium sulfate when cooked in pure, orange, lightfast shades.
The diazo component is obtained from 4-methyl-2-nitro-benzene-1-sulfonic acid chloride by reacting with excess dicyldohexylamide in benzene and reducing the nitro to the amino group. The 4-methyl-2-nitro-benzene-l-sulfonic acid chloride is converted into 4,4'-dimethyl-2, by reacting 4-methyl-2-nitro-l-chlorobenzene with sodium disulfide in methyl alcohol
2'-dinitro-diphenyl disulfide and treatment of this compound with chlorine in 90% acetic acid.
EMI0003.0024
33.6 parts of 2-amino-benzene-1-sulfonic acid-dicyklohexylamide are diazotized as described in Example 1 and the solution of the sodium salt of 24.0 parts of 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid and 40 parts of crystallized sodium acetate in 500 parts of water at 0-5. The resulting monoazo dye precipitates immediately as a dark red powder.
The mixture is stirred for several hours at 0 to 10, then heated to 60, the acid is partially neutralized by sprinkling in 50 parts of sodium carbonate, then the dye is filtered off with suction and dried. He introduces a dark red powder that dissolves well in hot water with a red color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a claret color. It dyes wool in pure yellowish-red, lightfast and wetfast shades.
In a liquor which contains 1.5 g of the red dye of Example 3 in 3 liters of water, 5 g of ammonium sulfate and 5 g of Glauber's salt, 100 g of well pre-wetted wool is put in at 50, boiled within 10 minutes and still holds 45 minutes at boiling temperature. During this time, the dye is practically completely absorbed by the wool. A very uniform, very pure and very lightfast, wetfast red wool dyeing is obtained.
In the table below, further monoazo dyes obtainable according to the invention are given, which can be produced using the appropriate amount of diazo and azo components by the method described in Examples 1 to 3:
