Dieser den Boden der Kammer bildende Kolben muss beweglich sein und die folgenden Funk tionen erfüllen: a) Im Zeitpunkt, wenn das geschmolzene Metall in die Kammer eingegossen wird, muss dieser untere Kolben die Düsenöffnung so abdecken, dass kein Metall vorzeitig in den Formhohlraum einfliesst; b) im Augenblick, wenn der Presskolben auf den Metallspiegel in der Kammer aufsitzt oder beinahe aufsitzt, muss der Kolben die Düsenöffnung so frei geben, dass das Metall durch den Presskolben in den Formhohlraum eingedrückt werden kann;
Hydraulic drive for the lower piston on a press for casting metals under pressure with a vertical cold pressure chamber In presses for casting metals under pressure with a vertical cold pressure chamber, this chamber is provided with a so-called lower piston.
This piston, which forms the bottom of the chamber, must be movable and fulfill the following functions: a) When the molten metal is poured into the chamber, this lower piston must cover the nozzle opening in such a way that no metal flows prematurely into the mold cavity; b) at the moment when the plunger rests or almost rests on the metal mirror in the chamber, the plunger must clear the nozzle opening so that the metal can be pressed into the mold cavity by the plunger;
(-) after the metal has been pressed into the mold cavity and after the metal has solidified, the lower piston must cut off the metal residue in the chamber from the sprue and push this metal residue out of the chamber so that it can be removed.
There are already different types of mechanisms for operating this lower piston be known and in operation. These are mechanical devices before, in which only the shearing of the metal remainder with regard to the required significant effort is derived from the return movement of the hydraulically driven plunger, or purely hydraulic independent Vorrich lines or in various ways combined before devices.
All of these known devices have certain shortcomings. With the mechanical devices, intervention on the part of the operator is essential and they cannot be connected to the semi-automatic work cycle of the machine. In the hydraulic devices of the previously known types, the large construction height is disadvantageous, and the same applies to the combined devices.
Furthermore, with all these known devices the complexity of the construction would make the assembly difficult, especially with the previous hydraulic devices, and with some mechanisms the premature inflow of the metal into the mold makes itself felt with slow plunger movement.
All the above-mentioned disadvantages are eliminated by the drive according to the present invention, consisting of a hydraulic cylinder in which two concentric telescopic pistons are movably mounted, in that the outer piston is designed as a hollow plunger in which a differential piston is movably mounted.
The use of two concentric telescopic pistons significantly reduces the overall height of the device, which is also much simpler and more reliable in operation, allows easy assembly and installation and is cheap to manufacture. This device fulfills the conditions listed above under a) to e) and the risk of the metal flowing into the mold cavity prematurely with slow plunger movement is thereby eliminated.
The accompanying drawings illustrate, for example, schematically the device according to the invention. In Fig.l the position for pouring the metal into the chamber is shown when the lower piston covers the nozzle opening. In Fig. 1I the position is shown in which the nozzle opening is released, the lower piston with its seat against the seating surface of the bracket. and thus forms a solid floor of the chamber.
In Fig.III the position is shown in which the lower piston has cut off the metal residue from the pouring and pushed the same out of the chamber in order to enable its removal.
The drive is built into the front bracket 6 of the press together with the vertical cold chamber 15 and consists of the following elements: the hydraulic cylinder 1, in which the outer piston is movably mounted, which is designed as a hollow plunger 2. A differential piston 3 is movably mounted in this hollow plunger 2 in such a way that the plunger 2 actually forms the hydraulic cylinder for the differential piston 3. Constant fluid pressure is introduced into the space 4 on the side of the piston rod.
This constant pressure is introduced through the bore 17 in the cylinder 1 first in the formed in the upper part of the hydraulic cylinder 1 sealed space 11 and further through the bore 12 of the plunger 2 in the space 4. The constant pressure causes a constant mutual Retraction of both telescopic concentric pistons 2 and 3. Controlled fluid pressure is introduced into the hydraulic cylinder 1, to be precise simultaneously under the plunger 1 and under the differential piston 3. Furthermore, the device comprises the stop 5 connected to the plunger 2.
The differential piston 3 is provided with the seat 8 firmly connected to it. This seat is lengthened by an approach to which the lower piston 14 of the pressing chamber 15 is mounted. The whole before direction is, as already mentioned, built into the front bracket 6 of the press, in which the seat surfaces 7, 9 and 10 of the front bracket 6 of the press are provided.
The device is connected to the hydraulic system of the machine in such a way that when the machine is opened, pressure fluid is simultaneously let into the cylinder 1 under the plunger 2 and under the differential piston 3 (see FIG. III). When the machine is closed, hydraulic fluid is drained from cylinder 1 (Fig.I).
In order to describe the operation of the device, it is expedient to start from the position illustrated in Fig. II, that is, from the position after the injection, when both concentric telescopic pistons, i.e. the plunger 2 and the differential piston 3, are in their lowest position, in which they were brought by the action of the plunger 13.
After the metal has solidified in the mold and in the chamber, both pistons are held in this position, although the piston 13 extends upwards. The metal residue that has not been cut off still holds these pistons in the chamber. If pressure fluid is now let into the hydraulic cylinder 1, this fluid acts simultaneously on both concentric telescopic pistons, that is on the plunger 2 and the differential piston 3. This creates the force required to cut off the metal residue in the chamber 15 from the sprue.
Both concentric telescopic pistons move upwards at the same time. As soon as the stop 5 of the plunger 2 hits the seat 7 of the front bracket 6 of the press, the plunger 2 stops, but the differential piston continues to move until the seat 8 hits the seating surface 9 of the front bracket 6 of the press. The lower piston 14 then extends partially out of the chamber and thus enables the removal of the metal residue (FIG. 11l).
If the pressure is now released from the hydraulic cylinder 1 when the machine is closed, the plunger 2 remains under the influence of friction in the sleeves or with the help of the safety device described below in its highest position and only the differential piston moves downward although by the action of the constant pressure in space 4. The differential piston 3 moves downward until the seat 8 strikes the stop 5 (see Fig. I).
As soon as this occurs, the entire movable system forms under the influence of the constant pressure in space 4 as it were a rigid whole, which cannot sink due to friction in the cuffs or under the influence of the safety device, the piston 14 in this way Filling position is held, that is, the nozzle opening is covered.
If the weight of the moving parts is not too great, the friction between the plunger 2 and the cuffs of the space 11 can be sufficient to hold these parts in the position shown in FIG. If this friction would not be sufficient, the device described below can be used for this purpose.
In the supply line 18 of the controlled pressure in the cylinder 1, two valves are built, namely the inlet valve 19 and the outlet valve 20, which are switched through according to the scheme shown in FIG. If pressure is permitted, hydraulic fluid can only flow into the cylinder 1 via the inlet valve 19 while the drain valve 20 (check valve) is blocked.
Conversely, if pressure is released from the cylinder 1, the liquid can only enter the drain via the drain valve 20. This drain valve is loaded by an adjustable spring, the pressing force of which can be changed by a wheel 21. The drain valve therefore only opens when there is a certain overpressure across it in accordance with the setting of the spring.
The spring is set so as to make the overpressure so great that the same holds the plunger 2 and the differential piston 3 in the required position, which is the position according to FIG.
Now the press chamber can be filled with metal and pressed off. During pressing, the plunger acts on the liquid metal in the chamber and via the same on the lower plunger 14, which is pressed down until the seat 8 rests on the seating surface 10 of the front bracket 6 of the press, the nozzle opens and metal in the chamber injects. When the piston 14 is pressed down, all other moving parts (FIG. II) are also pressed down.
