Method and device for the continuous filling of plastic tubes with sterile liquid filling goods
It is known to fill tubes made of plastic with sterile, liquid fillings, for example with sterile milk, during tube formation and then to subdivide the tube filled in this way into individual packs. It is obvious that with such arrangements, re-infections of the initially sterile hose material emerging from the hose spray nozzle by the outside atmosphere are inevitable as long as the exiting hose circumference is not closed.
The inventors have therefore set themselves the task of creating a method and a device for sheep field with the help of which it is possible to sterilize the space enclosed by the aseptically generated hose material and intended for receiving the filling material, including the inflow line for the sterile filling material to the filling space before starting the filling process.
The tube formation and filling process can now be continued continuously in the free outside atmosphere, because the sterile interior of the tube, which is now closed, no longer requires any further protection.
The invention thus relates to a method for the continuous filling of plastic tubes with sterile liquid fillings, in particular germ-free milk, during the tube formation; process by hot deformation of the plastic and is characterized in that when the first closure of the tube is applied before the start of the continuous filling and Packing process, the space inside the tube end formed is sterilized.
In particular, the invention offers the possibility of initiating the process of tube formation and the threading of the tube into the take-off, package forming and sealing machine in the free, unsterilized space without regard to bacteriological consequences. As soon as the production of the packaging tube is running properly, the atmosphere inside the tube and the apparatus can be sterilized by heat shock at any point in time, whereupon filling can begin and continue indefinitely without the need for further sterilization processes, as long as the product and tube forming material are available .
The invention is described below with reference to the drawing, for example, which shows a section through an embodiment of the device according to the invention, as it can be used, for example, to carry out the method according to the invention.
From a paper roll 16, a paper web intended for tube formation is placed around the end of an extruder head 1 like a tube. The two edges of the paper web that meet to form a tube are joined lengthwise by the welding device 7 after the inside of the paper web has been coated (laminated) with plastic in the manner described below, whereby a paper tube is formed. The paper tube can be pushed just over the lowermost end of the extruder head 1, which is supported by a calibration and support ring 17. The paper tube is then pulled down further and threaded into an already running take-off, pack form and sealing machine.
This packaging machine can be of a known type and continuously produces individual packs of bag, tetrahedral or other shape from the continuously produced tube filled with filling material. It is arranged at an appropriate distance below the squeezing rollers 11 described below. In particular, it has a welding device, with the aid of which the hose cross-section is closed at appropriate intervals to form the individual packs. This machine is assumed to be known and is therefore not illustrated.
Through an extruder, not shown, thermoplastic material, e.g. B. polyethylene, formed through the heated channel 6 via the annular slot nozzle 9 to form a hose, which is pressed against the inner wall of the paper tube constantly passing by the position of the annular slot nozzle 9 and connects to this like a lamination. The plastic tube that is in contact with the paper tube on the inside now runs into the take-off machine together with the paper tube. The proper functioning of the apparatus parts that have been in operation up to that point can now be checked, as can the proper condition of the packaging hose.
Before the sterile contents, z. B. milk, can be filled into the plastic-coated tube through the valve 3, the milk line 2, the air line 13 and the air located at the filling end 18 inside the continuously running tube must be sterilized. This is done in that steam is let into the milk line 2 through the valve 5. In order for this steam to be able to sterilize the air reliably in a short time at the filling end 18, steam must be blocked by narrowing the hose cross-section, which enables the necessary heat shock.
For this purpose, two molded parts 10 are pressed together. These molded parts have two rollers 11 at their end, the task of which is to allow the compressed tube to pass without friction, since the formation of the plastic-laminated paper tube continues to be formed during the sterilization. The molded parts 10 with the rollers are made strong enough to allow a pressure of 5-10 atmospheres for the burst of steam.
The steam that no longer passes through the rollers 11 of the collapsed hose cross-section finds its exit via the air line 13 arranged in a ring around the milk pipe 2 and the valve 15 into the open.
The steam shock sterilization is expediently carried out at least until the hose cross-section just emerging from the annular slot nozzle 9 at the beginning of the sterilization passes the rollers 11 and / or the hose cross-section emerging between the rollers 11 at this point has reached the welding jaws of the subsequent trigger machine and through them is locked. After the end of the heat shock sterilization of approx.
10 seconds the steam outlet valve 15 and the steam valve 5 are closed and a sterile compressed gas is introduced into the sterilized space 12 through openings in the valve 14, since the steam collapses due to condensation. Then the valve 14 is also closed again and the milk to be packaged is now admitted through the valve 3 into the sterilized space 12. The milk will fill the sterilized space 12 until the sterile air or gas cushion above the milk has compressed according to the milk pressure.
A contact of the milk with the hot parts of the extruder head end at the ring slot 9 is excluded.
If the molded parts 10 are now opened with the rollers 11, the milk can flow in according to the withdrawal speed of the hose. The air or gas cushion overlying the milk will determine an exact milk level.
By enlarging this air cushion - by admitting more air through the valve 14 or, conversely, by reducing the air cushion, any desired milk level can be set.
A particular advantage can be seen in the fact that this sterile gas cushion only needs to be set once and henceforth does not have to be continuously replenished.
After the molded parts 10 have been opened with the rollers 11, the welding jaws located in the haul-off machine come into effect, which divide the filled tube passing by into individual packs by transverse and, if necessary, longitudinal welding. The continuous packaging of the liquid contents will therefore begin. The single packs can be given desired shapes such as bag shapes, box shapes, tetrahedral shapes and the like by appropriate known means. The packaging process can be continued indefinitely without repeating the steam sterilization described, as long as sterile filling material flows in and the tube formation process at the nozzle 9 is running properly.
Re-infections of the filling head and in particular of the filling space 12 are not to be feared since the inner wall of the paper tube remains sterile due to the hot laminated plastic.
It should be pointed out again that during the entire process of sterilization the paper tube - provided with the plastic from the inside of the annular slot nozzle 9 - is continuously and continuously withdrawn by the withdrawal machine, not shown.
Changes are possible. So you can z. B. also let the sterilizing steam flow in the opposite direction, d. H. through valve 15 and exit through valve 5.
In any case, it is essential to carry out a one-time sterilization process for space 12 within the beginning of the hose formed at the beginning of the filling and packaging process, which means that further measures to maintain sterility during the subsequent filling and packaging are superfluous, since the packaging material is produced by its manufacture continuously germ-free. In this way, the process makes it possible, for example, to fill up cold aseptic liquids whose sterility does not need to be protected by their own temperature. Even the finished pack does not need to be heat-resistant for sterilization.
