Comme le montre la fig. 1, le dispositif de pro tection représenté comporte un élément creux 1, dans le fond 2 duquel est pratiquée une ouverture 3 destinée à laisser passer le corps de l'organe de fixa tion, par exemple une vis. Cet élément creux 1 est fermé à l'aide d'un couvercle amovible 4 ;
Protection device for the head of a fastener It is common to assemble two elements of any structure using fasteners such as: screws, nuts and bolts, lag bolts, etc., and that the structures involved are exposed to moisture. These fasteners therefore corrode, deteriorate and become difficult to disassemble. This constitutes a serious drawback.
The present invention relates to a protection device for the head of a fixing member, in particular of a screw, at a low cost price and which provides total protection to members of this type.
This protection device according to the invention comprises an element having a housing for the head and provided with an opening for the passage of the rod of the organ, as well as a cover which can be removably fixed to this element.
The appended drawing gives by way of example an embodiment of the object of the invention, FIG. 1 is a sectional elevation of this embodiment; fig. 2 is a sectional elevation showing an application of the device of FIG. 1.
As shown in fig. 1, the protection device shown comprises a hollow element 1, in the bottom 2 of which is made an opening 3 intended to allow the body of the fixing member to pass, for example a screw. This hollow element 1 is closed using a removable cover 4;
the assembly of this cover and the element 1 can be done by any known means and for example, as shown in this figure, by cooperation of a protruding wadding 5 provided at the upper part of the element ment 1 with a bead 6 projecting towards the inside of the cover in the vicinity of its opening, the cooperation of these two beads forming the closure, as is clearly shown in FIG. 2.
One can see a tab 7 integral with the cover and which allows the latter to be easily removed when the need arises.
Such a device can, of course, be made of any material preferably having a slight elasticity, for a purpose which will be indicated below. It is very particularly, but not exclusively, envisaged to make this plastic protection device.
Fig. 2 shows the application of this device to the case of a part 8 to be fixed to another part 9, the assembly having to be, for example, exposed to the humidity of the atmosphere. The part 8 has an opening 10 for the passage of the fixing screw 11.
The screw 11 is first of all threaded into the opening 3 of an element 1, identical or similar to that shown in FIG. 1, this opening 3 being sufficient to allow the shank of the screw to pass, but, with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the head 12, the latter therefore remains inside this element 1. This screw. 11 being screwed into part 9, the bottom of element 1 is therefore wedged between the outer surface of part 8 and the head 12 of the screw.
This element 1 then acts in the manner of a sealing washer, preventing rainwater or humid air from slipping between the head of the screw and part 8 and then along the shank of the latter by the opening 10. A first seal is thus produced.
The protection is made total when the cover 4 of the protection device is placed on the body. 1, since the head of the screw, is enclosed in a sealed capacity. It can be seen, not only that the protection provided is excellent and total, but that one can have access at any time to the screw 11 without damaging the protection device, since this access is obtained by removing the cover 4. .
Of course, the dimensions. of this protective device will be adapted in each particular case to the dimensions of the part of the fixing member to be protected. When it comes to fixing by nut and bolt, it is of course possible to provide a first device protecting the head of the bolt, and a second device protecting both the nut and the free end of the bolt.
