Combined unit for heating and hot water preparation Because of the corrosion resistance of cast iron, it is advisable to combine heating oil-operated combinations of boilers and water heaters so that only the boiler needs to be heated. It should be noted that hot water preparation must always have priority over heating.
This is achieved in the subject matter of the invention, in which the water heater is expediently a heat exchanger placed on the boiler.
The drawing illustrates schematically an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
On the boiler K heated by the oil burner B in the form of a cast iron articulated boiler, the heat exchanger W is placed, which for the sake of simplicity is shown as a flow heater with the heating coil Hz carrying the domestic water. A boiler with a double jacket and additional heating tubes is more practical. E represents the expansion vessel of the heat exchanger.
ST and BT are two thermostats, which the temperature of the boiler, respectively. of the heat exchanger upwards. Ve is a three-way valve of special design that is actuated by the expansion body A, which consists for example of a bimetal spiral or a liquid-filled metal bellows. J represents an injector that accelerates the water located between the outer and inner tubes, i.e. H. from the heat exchanger W water is conveyed into the boiler as soon as a water jet emerges from the inner tube.
V means the flow, R the return of the connected central heating, P the circulation pump belonging to the same. RT is a manually or automatically adjustable thermostat which responds to the flow temperature and controls burner B according to the on-off principle.
Finally, A 1 and A2 are valves that are open during the heating season and are only closed when the heating is switched off. The mode of operation of the arrangement is as follows: If the entire system is cold and it is put into operation, the thermostat RT switches on burner B.
Despite the pump P working, the temperature in the flow cannot initially rise because, when the boiler water is cold, the expansion body A blocks the heating water circuit of the heater or the flow of the same in the manner shown against the boiler through the valve Ve.
The entire heating effect of the burner now benefits the heat exchanger, in that a thermosiphon circulation is formed in the manner indicated. Although it would also be possible to arrange the heat exchanger next to the boiler, a second, small circulation pump would then have to be installed in the connection line between the heat exchanger W and the injector J.
So if the temperature in the boiler rises, the warm water that collects in its upper part moves into the heat exchanger. This goes on until the upper part of the boiler has warmed up so much that the expansion body A can slowly open the valve Ve against the flow V.
Now part of the water that has previously only circulated through the valve Ve in the heating system can also circulate through the boiler K, with cold water entering the boiler below, which, however, also sucks in warm water from the heat exchanger W through the injector effect, which is now supplied to the heating system Good is coming.
If the temperature in the heat exchanger drops as a result, it will also decrease in the upper part of this boiler, whereby the heating circuit against the boiler would again be blocked.
If the temperature rises sharply, for example as a result of not using hot water, the locks

Plate of the valve Ve allows direct circulation back volume flow, whereby the flow temperature rises rapidly and the thermostat RT switches off the burner. It can of course also be switched off beforehand if the flow has reached the temperature set on the RT thermostat.
In any case, the supply of heat to the heater is prevented by the valve Ve as long as the expansion body A does not have the temperature required for the heat exchanger.
The expansion body A is, for example, as shown, in the boiler, but can also be located in its vicinity, provided that a sufficiently good thermal contact is made with the upper part of the boiler.
If, for example, in summer, the heating is to be switched off while the hot water generation is maintained, the pump P is switched off and the valves A 1 and A2 are closed. The burner B is now controlled by the thermostat BT, while the thermostat ST continues to act as a safety thermostat. It is of course also possible to swap the roles of the BT and ST thermostats, depending on the circuit and setting.
