Retractable shelf The object of the present invention is a retractable shelf comprising a plate on which is fixed a notepad and a fixing flange which can be applied either against a horizontal or vertical surface, for example on the dashboard of an automobile. or near a wall-mounted telephone device.
According to the invention, this shelf is characterized in that the flange has the shape of a U, the lateral branches of which each have a hole traversed by an axis on which the plate is rotatably mounted, this axis being integral with two arms. radials fitted.
each with a finger, which immobilize the plate both in its position of use and in its retracted position by penetrating into holes made in the plate and in said branches of the U-shaped flange below. the action of a spring axially pushing said axis back.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a tablet applied to the dashboard of a motor vehicle, and FIG. 2, a bottom view of the same tablet.
The shelf shown comprises a flange 1 in the shape of an inverted U, the cross member of which is fixed, for example by means of two screws, under a flat and horizontal part t of the dashboard, and of which the two lateral branches extend towards the bottom. Each of these branches has an eccentric hole 2 and two holes 4 and 5, arranged on the same cir conference having its center on the axis of the hole 2 and offset by 90.1 with respect to each other; hole 4 is placed on the horizontal passing through said center, while hole 5 is located on the vertical passing through the same center.
Hole 4 is used, as will be explained further. far, when the flange is fixed on a horizontal surface t, while the hole 5 will fulfill the same role as the hole 4 when the flange 1 is fixed against a vertical surface t '.
The two holes 2 are crossed by an axis 3 which serves as an articulation for a plate 6 which supports a notepad 19. This plate is constituted by a rectangular sheet metal plate having two longitudinal edges 6 ', a rear part in the form of a semicircle, and a rear transverse flange with a cylindrical face 6 ", inserted between the flanges 6 '.
These flanges 6 'are each provided with a hole 6 "' for mounting the plate 6 on the axis 3 and between the side branches of the flange 1, and with two holes 7 and 8 located on the same circumference concentric with the hole 6 "'and having a radius equal to that of the circumference on which the holes 4 and 5 of the branches of the flange are placed.
The plate 6 is placed, as we have just said, between the branches of the U so as to be able to switch around the axis 3 which is provided with members cooperating with the holes 4 (or 5) and 7 and 8 to immobilize the plate in its position of use and in its rest position (in phantom in fig. 1).
This axis 3 leaves, for this purpose, at one of its ends, an operating button 14, blocked by a screw 14 ', at an intermediate point, close to this end, an arm 9, blocked by a screw.
10 and pushed by a coil spring. 15 surrounding the axis 3 against the internal face of the rim 6 ', of the plate 6 and, at its other end, an arm 9', also blocked by a screw 10 'and applied by said spring against the external face of the branch of the U-shaped flange. Between this branch and the rim 6 'is interposed a spacer 13.
The arm 9 carries at its free end a finger 11 parallel to the axis 3; the arm 9 'is provided with a similar finger 12, longer than the finger 11. These fingers 11 and 12 each enter a pair of holes 4 and 7, under the action of the spring 15, when the plate occupies the position of use shown in solid lines in fig. 1.
The tray 6 supports a notepad 19, the base cardboard of which can, for example, be glued to the tray. This block is covered by a cover 16, for example in leather or in synthetic plastic, one folded end of which is fixed to one of the edges 6 'of the plate by rivets 17, tan say that the other end 16' is hooked. at the other edge 6 'using a press stud 18, 18'.
This cover further has along its rear edge a tubular sheath 16 "which can accommodate a pencil or a ballpoint pen.
The plate 6 preferably forms an angle with the horizon (3 as shown in FIG. 1, this position making it easier to write on the block 19. The holes 7 and 8 are offset by an angle a which , in the drawing, is 120 ° and corresponds to the retraction angle of the shelf. When the shelf is applied against a vertical wall, this angle will be 900- (3 (or 900 if plate is horizontal in the use position).
If you want to retract the shelf, push the button 14 against the action of the spring 15 until it abuts against the branch of the support 1. This causes the axial displacement of the axis 3 which drives with him arms 9 and 9 '. The stroke of this axis is such that the short finger 11 emerges from the two holes 4 and 7, while the long finger 12 only comes out of the hole 7. We can then fold the plate 6 and release the button 14 as soon as the holes 7 are no longer facing the fingers 11 and 12, these fingers coming to rest against the edges 6 '.
We continue to fold the plate 6 and, when it reaches the retracted position, after a rotation of a, the fingers 11 and 12 engage in the holes 8 under the action of the spring 15 and immobilize the plate . To return the plate to the position of use, a similar maneuver is carried out, the fingers 11 and 12 automatically falling into the holes 7 when the plate returns to the position of use.
If the support 1 is applied against a vertical wall t ', the fingers 11 and 12 are inserted into the holes 5. For this, it is sufficient to remove the button 14, which allows the arm 9' to be pushed back a little more. and extract the finger 12 from the hole 4, turn the two arms through 90 and insert the two fingers into the holes 5. The button 14 is then replaced.
Whether the flange 1 is fixed in one or the other position of use, the axis 3 is prevented from rotating on itself, the finger 12 does not come out of the hole 4 or 5 of the branch . The worm rusting of the plate is thus correctly carried out in the two positions, the support having a great stability because it is locked on both sides.
A small cover 21 (in phantom lines, fig. 2), fixed to the branch of the flange 1, hides the movable arm 9 ', which, on the one hand, gives a more finished appearance to the tablet, and prevents, on the other hand, that the arm 9 ′ is possibly hooked to an electric wire connected to the dashboard.
