Porte-menu
Les porte-menus employés dans les restaurants consistent généralement en un cadre rigide dans lequel est insérée la car- te du menu.
L'invention a pour objet un porte-menu très simplifié caractérisé essentiellement en ce qu'il est exempt de cadre et que la carte est maintenue rigide dans la position voulue verticale ou inclinée simplement par une courbure transver- sale qui lui est donnée par le support dans lequel est placé son bord correspondant. Par exemple le porte-menu consistera simplement en un pied pourvu d'une pince cintrée entre les mors de laquelle la carte sera prise par son bord inférieur, de façon à prendre elle-même une forme cintrée ou légèrement pliée, c'est-à-dire la forme d'une portion de cylindre à génératrices parallèles au grand côté de la carte.
Bien entendu cette courbure transversale, c'est-à-dire la courbe de la base du dit cylindre, pourra être plus ou moins accentuée, simple

ou complexe, par exemple ondulatoire, sans sortir du cadre de l'invention. De préférence la pince sera disposée de manière à tenir en temps normal la carte verticale ou à peu près verticale, mais à pouvoir s'incliner lorsque l'usager désire prendre connaissance des indications portées par la carte; par exemple la pince sera portée par un tube ou une tige élastique, en caoutchouc ou autre, implantée dans le pied de façon qu'il suffise de pousser cette tige souple légè- rement avec le doigt pour incliner la pince avec la carte.
Le dessin ci-joint représente,en perspective à la fig. 1, en coupe axiale à la fig. 2 et en plan à la fige 3 (dans celle- ci la carte est enlevée de la pince), une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention.
Dans un pied 1 est implantée une tige-support 2 qui porte à sa partie supérieure une pince constituée par un mors. fixe 3 et un mors mobile 4 pouvant pivoter autour de l'axe 5 et,en étant manoeuvré par le doigt 6, pourvu d'un ressort de rappel 7.
La caractéristique consiste en ce que la pince, c'est-à- dire les deux mors 3 et 4 sont cintrés en plan comme on le voit fig. 3. Il en résulte que la carte ou le menu 8, lorsqu'il est pris par son bord inférieur entre les deux mors de la pince, prend lui-même cette forme cintrée- ce qui lui donna la rigi- dité voulue pour que, bien que n'étant supporté par aucun cadre périphérique, il se tienne de lui-même dans la position verti- cale ou inclinée vers l'arrière qui peut lui être donnée.
Une autre particularité de l'invention consiste à éxé- cuter la tige-support 2 en une matière flexible telle par exemple que du caoutchouc ou encore un tube métallique flexible, de manière que, la pince tenant normalement la carte dans une position verticale, la tige 2 puisse être légèrement fléchie et inclinée vers l'arrière;

Comme on l'a indiqué plus haut, la courbure des mors, au lieu d'être un arc de cercle comme représenté à titre d'exem- ple fig. 3, pourra prendre une forme quelconque plus ou moins complexe sans sortir do l'esprit de l'invention, mais la forme simple représentée est suffisante pour donner la rigidité voulue à la carte et elle est par conséquent la plus pratique,
Quant aux détails de construction ils pourront varier de multiples manières sans sortir du cadre de l'invention.
Le pied 1 sera avantageusement exécuté de manière à pouvoir porter des réclames comme par exemple indiqué à la fige 1.

Menu holders used in restaurants generally consist of a rigid frame in which the menu card is inserted.
The object of the invention is a very simplified menu holder characterized essentially in that it is free of a frame and that the card is kept rigid in the desired vertical position or simply tilted by a transverse curvature which is given to it by the support in which its corresponding edge is placed. For example, the menu holder will simply consist of a foot provided with a curved clamp between the jaws of which the card will be taken by its lower edge, so as to itself take a curved or slightly bent shape, that is to say - say the shape of a portion of a cylinder with generatrices parallel to the long side of the card.

Preferably, the clamp will be arranged so as to hold the card vertically or more or less vertically in normal times, but to be able to tilt when the user wishes to take note of the indications carried by the card; for example, the clamp will be carried by an elastic tube or rod, made of rubber or the like, implanted in the foot so that it suffices to push this flexible rod lightly with the finger to tilt the clamp with the card.
The attached drawing represents, in perspective in FIG. 1, in axial section in FIG. 2 and in plan in fig 3 (in the latter the card is removed from the clamp), one embodiment of the object of the invention.
In a foot 1 is implanted a support rod 2 which carries at its upper part a clamp constituted by a jaw. fixed 3 and a movable jaw 4 capable of pivoting around the axis 5 and, being operated by the finger 6, provided with a return spring 7.
The characteristic consists in that the clamp, that is to say the two jaws 3 and 4 are bent in plan as seen in fig. 3. The result is that the card or menu 8, when it is caught by its lower edge between the two jaws of the gripper, itself takes this curved shape - which gave it the desired rigidity so that, although not supported by any peripheral frame, it stands by itself in the vertical or rearward inclined position that can be given to it.
Another feature of the invention consists in making the support rod 2 in a flexible material such as for example rubber or a flexible metal tube, so that, the clamp normally holding the card in a vertical position, the rod 2 can be slightly bent and tilted backwards;
