Bottle-like, sealable container with a device for applying a liquid contained in the container to a surface
The invention relates to a bottle-like, sealable container with a device for applying a liquid contained in the container to a surface, in which a hollow cap can be screwed onto the neck of the container provided with an external thread , outer mouth forms a seat for a ball, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bore of the cap, which ball with the cap screwed completely onto the thread of the neck of the container through the outer end of a tube, the inner end of which fits tightly in the cylindrical opening of the neck of the container is held,
is pressed against said seat and at the same time tightly closes the mouth of this tube, while with a half to one turn unscrewed cap and thus caused axial displacement of this cap with respect to the tube, the clamping of the ball between the seat and the outer end of the tube is released, so that the liquid coming from the container through the tube onto the ball forms a liquid film on this ball and can be applied to a surface by means of this ball.
This container can contain perfume, tinctures, ammonia for the treatment of insect bites or other liquids which are to be applied in dosed quantities to a surface, usually a delimited area of skin. When the cap is fully screwed onto the thread of the neck, the container is hermetically sealed so that the liquid contained in it cannot evaporate.
In Fig. 1 and 2 of the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the bottle-like, closable container with device for applying the liquid contained in the container to a surface according to the invention are shown in axial section.
In Fig. 1, 1 denotes a bottle-like container made of glass or a transparent plastic, which has a neck 2. The neck 2 has a cylindrical opening 3 and an external thread 4. An elongated, hollow cap 5 with a rounded tip is screwed onto the external thread 4, in the tip of which an axial bore 6 is provided, the outer mouth is narrowed and a seat 7 for a ground and polished ball 8 made of stainless steel, glass or the like forms. The diameter of the ball 8 is 1-2 tenths of a millimeter smaller than the diameter of the bore 6 and the ball 8 protrudes somewhat from the opening of the seat 7. In the cylindrical bore 3 of the neck 2 is one end of a tube 9 made of plastic, for. B.
Polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, nylon, which has a certain elasticity, slidably guided but tightly fitted, the other end of which is also guided in a sealed manner in the bore 6 of the cap 5 and forms a seat for the ball 8. At its central part, the tube 9 has a collar 10, for the upper, d. H. a shoulder 11 provided in the cap 6 forms a stop against the tip of the cap 5 facing the edge. Between the collar 10 of the tube 9 and the edge of the neck 2 of the container 1, a conical ring 12 made of elastic material, for example a plastic, is inserted into the cap 5, the lower, larger diameter of which faces with its edge portion on one in the Cap 5 provided shoulder 13 is seated and which holds the collar 10 and thus the tube 9 in the cap 5.
In the drawing, this shoulder 13 is drawn exaggeratedly wide for the sake of clarity; In reality, this shoulder 13 is only so wide that the ring 12, thanks to its elasticity, can be pressed into the cap 5 and is then held in it by the shoulder 13.
After filling the container 1 with liquid, the cap 5 is screwed onto the thread 4 of the neck 2 of the container 1, the container-side end of the tube 9, which is held in this cap 5, like a plug into the opening 3 of the neck 2 is pressed in and fits snugly in this. In the non-use position, as shown in the drawing, the cap 5 is fully screwed onto the thread 4 of the neck 2. The ball 8 is clamped between the outer end of the tube 9 and the seat 7 in the bore 6 and closes the mouth of the tube 9 tightly. The container 1 is thus hermetically sealed. In this non-use position there is a gap between the collar 10 of the tube 9 and the ring 12, as can be seen from the drawing.
If liquid is now to be applied from the container 1 to a surface, the cap 5 is unscrewed by half a turn or a full turn. Since here the tube 9 is held in the bore 3 of the neck 2, the ball 8 is released from its entrapment between the seat 7 and the outer end of the tube 9 and can rotate. This also releases the mouth of the pipe 9. When the container 1 is in the downward position with the cap 5, liquid emerging from the tube 9 can form a liquid film on the ball 8 thanks to the fact that the diameter of the ball 8 is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bore 6 of the cap 5 and applied to a surface.
Since the tube 9 fits sealingly into the bore 6 of the cap 5, no liquid can get into the cavity of the cap 5 when the container 1 is turned over. When the cap 5 is unscrewed from the thread 3 of the neck 2, the ring 12 hits the collar of the tube 9, so that the user can feel well when the cap 5 has been unscrewed sufficiently. However, it does not do any harm if the cap 5 is unscrewed beyond this noticeable stop, since this only has the consequence that the tube 9 in the bore 3 of the neck 2 is shifted slightly outwards, but again when the cap 5 is screwed on again Hole 3 is pushed in.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, 21 is the container and 22 is its neck.
Here, too, the neck 22 has a cylindrical opening 23 and an external thread 24, onto which the latter a cap 25 is screwed. In the tip of the cap 25, which has the same external design as in the embodiment described above, a bore 26 is provided, the outer mouth of which is narrowed and forms a seat 27 for a ball 28, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bore 26. In the bore 26 the outer end of a tube 29 is sealingly guided on the cap 25, the inner end of which is guided in a tight fit in the opening 23 of the neck 22. Here, too, the tube 29 consists of an elastic plastic. The tube 29 has at its central part a collar 30, for the surface of which is to lie against the tip of the cap 25, a shoulder 31 provided in the cap 25 forms a stop.
A threaded ring 32 is screwed into the thread of the cap 25 on the container side of the collar 30 of the tube 29, which ring holds the collar 30 and thus the tube 29 in the cap 25.
This threaded ring 32, which can be turned by means of a suitable socket wrench, forms an adjustable stop for the collar 30 of the tube 29, so that the distance by which the cap 25 for applying liquid is to be unscrewed from the neck 22 of the container 21, as required can be regulated. The mode of operation of the embodiment according to FIG. 2 corresponds exactly to the mode of operation of the embodiment according to FIG. 1.
