Hagelabwehrrakete
Fig. 1 im Längsschnitt die Treibhülse der Hagelschutzrakete,
Fig. 3 eine Ansicht der fertig zusammengesetzten Rakete.
Anti-hail missile
The present invention relates to a hail defense missile with a propellant sleeve made of light metal and a detonation body containing silver iodide.
The explosives used in the detonation body are usually fat or oil-containing explosives based on potassium chloral with or without additives, for example Cheddite (registered trademark). Apart from the high weight of the relatively large amount of fat or oil-containing explosives required, the explosive effect is mostly unsatisfactory due to the relatively slow burning rate.
The present invention aims to avoid these disadvantages. The anti-hail rocket according to the invention is characterized for this purpose in that the explosive device of the detonation body is a mixture of pulverized substances and, in addition to silver iodide, contains an oxygen carrier and metal powder.
It has been shown that such mixtures used in powder form burn considerably faster than z. B. the usual fatty or oil-containing explosives and thus have a better explosive effect and allow a significant weight saving.
An embodiment of the anti-hail rocket according to the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing; it shows :
Fig. 1 in longitudinal section the propellant sleeve of the anti-hail rocket,
Fig. 2 shows in longitudinal section the detonation body of the missile and
3 shows a view of the completely assembled rocket.
The anti-hail rocket shown has a propellant case 2 made of light metal and filled with a propellant charge 1; the drive sleeve is expediently made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. A detonating cord is inserted into the propellant charge, the part of which protruding from the propellant sleeve 2 at the bottom is encased in a cardboard protective sleeve 3 closed at the bottom. On the lower end of the drive sleeve 2 is a windshield sleeve 4, for. B. made of cardboard.
A cylindrical detonation body is applied to the upper end of the propellant sleeve 2 and consists of a thick-walled cardboard envelope 5 which is filled with powdered explosive 6 and closed at the top by a conical head 7 made of wood. A detonation body which widens conically upward can also be provided, so that the parts 5, 7 are approximately in the form of drops. The rocket is attached to a wooden rod 8 of rectangular cross-section, through two wire loops 9 comprising the detonation body and the rod 8 and by an adhesive tape 10 comprising the propellant sleeve 2 and the rod 8, e.g. B. made of plastic.
The adhesive tape 10 is burned by the hot propellant sleeve so that the sleeve 2 detaches from the rod 8 when the rocket detonates at the culmination point. Although a cord binding can also be provided at this point, the adhesive tape 10 has proven to be more expedient for reliably detaching the drive sleeve from the rod. The wind protection cover 4 can also be made of flammable plastic, e.g. B. polyethylene exist. Such a sleeve is water-repellent and therefore particularly advantageous. In addition, it will burn together with the adhesive tape 10.
In the area of the draft shield sleeve 4, the rod 8 is clad with a U-shaped bent sheet metal 11 so that it is protected against burning by fire emerging from the rising propellant sleeve 2.
The explosive device 6 consists of a powdery mixture of an oxygen carrier, a metal powder and silver iodide. Suitable oxygen carriers are, for. B. the following substances individually or mixed: potassium chlorate, potassium perchlorate, potassium nitrate, barium nitrate and barium chlorate. A light metal powder is expediently used to manufacture the explosive device. Aluminum, magnesium and zirconium are particularly useful, individually or mixed. Alloys of the metals mentioned can also be used. Oxygen carriers, metal powder and silver iodide are dry mixed and filled into the envelope 5; Layer-by-layer filling is also possible, with an intermediate layer of silver iodide following each layer of oxygen carrier and metal powder.
The above-mentioned explosive device can be detonated by stoppins, i.e. without initial ignition, as is the case e.g. B. by means of detonators with conventional explosives, such as fatty or oil-containing explosives, based on potassium chloride, z.
B. Chedditep, must be used. Due to the powder form of the explosive device 6, it ignites much faster than a conventional explosive; During the explosion, it causes a spherical wave-like atomization of the silver iodide within a radius of several km3. Explosion speeds of 6500 mlsec and temperatures of 5700 C have been determined. As is well known, finely atomized silver iodide has proven to be particularly suitable for combating hail.
Since the explosive device used here ensures an extremely fine atomization of the silver iodide, the hail defense missile described is extremely effective.
It has been shown in practice that a anti-hail rocket of the type described can also be used to trigger rain from cumulus clouds.
