1-Amino-4-cyano-2-chlormethylsulfonyl-benzol, 1-Amino-4-methylsulfonyl-2-chlormethylsulfonyl- benzol.
EMI0001.0057
in Betracht, worin R1 eine Alkylgruppe, enthaltend höchstens 4 C-Atome, eine Oxyäthyl-, Dioxypropyl-, Cyanoäthyl- oder Difluoräthylgruppe;
Process for the preparation of water-insoluble monoazo dyes It has been found that new, valuable, water-insoluble monoazo dyes are obtained if a diazotized type in the benzene series, which contains 1 or 2 aromatically bound chloromethylsulfonyl groups in the molecule, but of sulfonic acid - and carboxyl groups are free,
combined with a mono amine of the benzene series coupling in the p-position to the amino group, in whose amino group at least one H atom has been replaced by a low molecular weight, optionally substituted alkyl radical.
The diazo components used as starting materials in the present process can contain other substituents in addition to the 1-2 chloromethylsulfonyl groups, for example nitro, cyano, low molecular weight alkyl, alkylsulfonyl groups or halogen atoms.
Amines of the formula prove to be particularly valuable
EMI0001.0031
where X is a halogen atom, a nitro, cyano, methyl, trifluoromethyl, methylsulfonyl or chloromethylsulfonyl group, Y is a halogen atom or a methyl group, m is 0 or 1 and n is 0, 1 or 2.
Examples of diazo components suitable for the present process are: 1-amino-4-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-3-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-2-chloro-4-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-an ino-4-chloro-2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-4-bromo-2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-2,4-di- (chloromethylsulfonyl) -benzene, 1-amino-4-nitro- 2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-4-nitro-6-chloro-2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene,
1-Amino-4-cyano-2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 1-amino-4-methylsulfonyl-2-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene.
Compounds of the formula are preferably used as azo components

into consideration in which R1 is an alkyl group containing at most 4 carbon atoms, an oxyethyl, dioxypropyl, cyanoethyl or difluoroethyl group;
R2 is an H atom, an alkyl group containing a maximum of 4 C atoms, an oxyethyl, cyanoethyl or difluoroethyl group; R3 denotes an H atom, a methyl group, a chlorine or bromine atom and R4 denotes an H atom, a methyl or methoxy group.
The following amines may be mentioned as examples: N-oxyethyl aniline, N, N di- (oxyethyl) aniline, N-methyl (or ethyl) -N-oxyethyl, aniline, N-butyl-N-oxyethyl aniline, N -Oxyethyl-N-cyanoethyl-aniline, N, N-dicyanoethyl-aniline, N-cyanoethyl-N-ethyl-aniline, N-oxyethyl-N-ss,
SS-difluoroethyl aniline and their derivatives substituted in the m-position to the amino group by a methyl group or a chlorine atom, also 1- [N, N-di (oxyethyl) amino] -2,5-dixethylbenzene or 1- ( N-ethyl-N-oxyethyl-amino) - 2-methoxy-5-methyl-benzene. The diazotization of the aminobenzene chloromethyl sulfones mentioned can be carried out by methods known per se, eg.
B. with the help of mineral acid, in particular hydrochloric acid, and sodium nitrite or z. B. with a solution of nitrosylsulfuric acid in concentrated sulfuric acid. The coupling can also be known per se, for. B. in neutral to acidic agents, optionally in the presence of sodium acetate or the like affect the coupling speed of the buffer substances or catalysts, such as. B. pyridine, respectively. its salts, are made.
After the coupling reaction, the dyes formed can easily from the coupling mixture, for. B. by filtration, because they are practically insoluble in water.
The new monoazo dyes obtained by the present process correspond to the formula
EMI0002.0018
where n is an integer not exceeding 2, A is a benzene radical free of carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups, and B is a benzene radical which, as any further substituents, preferably only contains halogen atoms, alkyl,
Has oxyalkyl or alkoxy groups and in its amino group in the p-position to the azo group at least one H atom has been replaced by an optionally substituted alkyl radical. These new monoazo dyes, especially those of the formula
EMI0002.0037
are very suitable for dyeing and printing structures, e.g. B.
Fibers and fabrics, made from cellulose esters and ethers, but above all for dyeing acetate rayon, triacetate fibers and structures made from super-polyurethanes and super-polyamides, for example synthetic, linear polyamides and polyurethanes,
as well as blended fabrics made of polyamide and acetate rayon threads. These dyes are also suitable for dyeing polyester and polyacrylonitrile fibers. In contrast to, for example, the CICH., C0 group, which has a very reactive chlorine atom, the chlorine atom in the chloromethylsulfonyl group is very tightly bound and therefore not exchangeable under the conditions of the dyeing process.
The dyeings produced on such structures with these new dyes are characterized by the particular purity and liveliness of their hue and by good general fastness properties, in particular by high lightfastness and good fastness to sublimation and smoke gas.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example
EMI0002.0062
20.5 parts of 1-amino-4-chloromethylsulfonyl-benzene, 25 parts of a 4N sodium nitrite solution and 30 parts of ice are added to 40 parts of water with 25 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid. The temperature is kept at 0 to 5 ° C. by external cooling.
A clear diazo solution is obtained. It is allowed to flow slowly into 19.5 parts of N, N-di- (oxyethyl) -amino-3-methylbenzene, which is dissolved in 40 parts of 2N hydrochloric acid.
By adding saturated sodium acetate solution, the coupling is accelerated and the dye is precipitated. The sucked off and dried dye is an orange-red powder, which has the formula 1 and dyes acetate silk and polyamide fibers in orange-red shades of good lightfastness.
If 17.4 parts of N-ethyl-N-cyanoethyl-aminobenzene are used instead of the specified coupling components, a dye is obtained which dyes acetate silk and nylon yellow-orange. If 19 parts of N- (oxyethyl) -N-cyanoethyl-aminobenzene are used instead of the azo component given in paragraph 1, an orange-red powder is obtained which dyes acetate silk and nylon in yellow-orange tones.
The 1-amino-4-chloromethylsulfonylbenzene used in the present example as a diazo component can be prepared by a known method by reacting 1-acetylamino-benzene-4-sulfinic acid with dichloroacetic acid in a weakly alkaline aqueous medium and with simultaneous decarboxylation of the carboxy formed chloromethyl sulfone and subsequent splitting off of the acetyl group are obtained.
Dyeing instructions 1 part of the dyestuff pasted with sulphite waste liquor, obtained according to the example, is made into a paste with about 50 parts of 30 to 40 parts of water and then added to the dyebath through a fine sieve. 100 parts of acetate silk yarn are placed in the dyebath at 40 to 50, the temperature is gradually increased to 75 to 80 and the mixture is allowed to draw out at this temperature for one hour. It is then finished as usual, and a yellow-orange coloration of good lightfastness is obtained.
If a corresponding amount of superpolyamide (nylon thread) is used instead of acetate silk, a similar coloration is obtained.
