Valve The present invention relates to a valve comprising a valve movable axially relative to an outlet seat formed in a casing enclosing said valve.
The valve according to the invention is characterized in that said valve is constituted by a piston movable axially in a fluid-tight manner in a hollow body housed in said housing and the interior of which is hermetically closed by said piston, this body carrying a mechanism for actuating said pivoting lever valve and being fitted in a fluid-tight manner in said housing, and in that releasable means retaining said body therein.
the housing so that the assembly consisting of this body, the valve and the lever actuating mechanism can be taken out as a whole from said housing.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the valve forming the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are axial sections of this embodiment, respectively in the closed position and in the open position.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of a detail of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is an end view of the valve housing.
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of a retaining pin shown removed from the housing of FIG. 4. Figs. 6 to 10 are respectively side elevational views of the various valve elements in the order of their assembly.
Figs. 11 and 12 are views at 900 with respect to FIGS. 7 and 8 respectively.
The valve shown, suitable for the distribution of beer, comprises a hollow body or casing 1 provided with a fluid inlet port 2 and a fluid outlet port 3.
In the example shown, a tubular connection nozzle 4 forming an integral part of the casing is provided upstream of the inlet orifice 2, while an outlet spout 5 forming an integral part of the casing and exhibiting a hazard. smooth 6 is provided downstream of the outlet 3, the latter also being provided with a seat 7 for a valve 9.
The valve 9 is carried by a body 10 which also carries actuating means comprising an actuating lever 11 of this valve 9. The body 10 comprises a part 12 having the general shape of a sleeve fitted to slide in such a manner. sealed in the casing 1. In practice and for the use indicated, the casing 1 may be formed by a piece of cast aluminum, the interior surfaces of which are preferably treated to protect them against any corrosive action of the beer or similar fluids.
The bush 12 may be of a suitable plastic material such as polyethylene and is fitted exactly in the housing with the interposition of a sealing ring 13.
The lower end 14 of the sleeve 12 is of smaller diameter so that fluid flow is possible between the inlet 2 and the outlet 3 when the valve 9 is lifted and has protrusions. 15 intended to hinder a swirling movement of the fluid so that the latter spurts out from the outlet nozzle 5 in the form of a jet or a rectilinear current. The projections 15 can also serve, as shown, to guide the end 14 in the housing 1.
If necessary, the bore 6 of the outlet spout can be protruded or otherwise shaped to ensure that the fluid flows out in a straight stream.
The valve 9 constitutes an axially movable piston in a sealed manner in a bore 16 of the sleeve 12, said valve 9 being actuated by means of the lever 11 by means of a cam or lever mechanism which lifts or lifts. lowers a removable buffer 17 screwed on the lower part of the valve 9.
In order to ensure correct contact of the pad 17 on the seat, the valve 9 is in two parts, as shown, the lower part being connected to the upper part or head 20 so as to be able to move axially with respect to the latter. against the action of a spring 21 arranged between the two parts 19, 20.
These two parts are connected by means of a pin 22 carried transversely by a section of reduced diameter 24 of the head 20 which enters a blind bore 25 of the lower part 19, said pin being engaged in elongated openings 23 located at diametrically opposed points of the lower part 19.
Thus, when the valve 9 is moved to the seat 7, the pin connection allows some movement lost during the final part of the movement of the head 20 so that the lower part 19 and the pad 17 carried by it are located entirely under the action of the spring 21 which ensures an intimate and tight application of the buffer 17 on the seat.
The lower part 19 is provided with sealing means, such as a washer 26 shown, so that it functions as a sealed piston in the bore 16 of the sleeve 12. The buffer 17 and the lower part 19 are, preferably of a suitable plastics material such as polyethylene, while the head 20 may be molded from a harder plastics material or be of cast aluminum or other metal, due to its cam coaction with the operating lever 11.
The lever 11 is pivotally mounted with respect to the housing 1 and also with respect to the sleeve 12 and is provided with an arm 29 acting as a cam on the head 20 of the valve 9 so that the latter is displaced axially in the 'in either direction to lift the drum 17 and bring it into its seat.
In the example shown, the head 20 has two lateral fork branches 30 which are grooved on their internal faces at 31 and are also split at 32 to allow the passage of a sleeve 33 for the lever 11. The arm 29 of the actuating lever 11 is disposed between the branches 30 of the fork and is provided with two bosses 34 which, for the lifting movement of the valve, engage under upper protuberances 35 of the branches 30 when the lever of actuation is pulled forward.
Rearward movement of the actuating lever 11 results in pressing the bosses on lower or opposing surfaces 36 of the legs 30 to urge the head 20 in an axial direction to bring the valve into its seat, a space central 37 being arranged to allow the passage of the free end of the arm 29. It can thus be seen that the bosses 34 have a cam action and cooperate with the grooves 31 of the branches 30, while the open slots 32 allow the axial movement of the head 20 relative to the pivot sleeve 33.
The movement of the operating lever 11 has an action such that when the valve 9 is finally brought into its seat or is initially lifted (i.e. is moved to the vicinity of its closed position), the amplitude of the Axial movement of this valve 9 relative to the angular movement of lever 11 is small so that a fine adjustment of the flow of fluid in the vicinity of the closed position is obtained.
As the lever is moved forward to the fully open position, or is actuated in the vicinity of this position, the amplitude of the axial movement of the valve 9 relative to the angular movement of the lever It is larger so that a rapid discharge of the fluid through the valve can be obtained if necessary.
This gives the operator the possibility of regulating the flow of the fluid in a precise manner, in particular when it comes to pouring beer into glasses or similar containers, as long as by pulling the lever 11 fully towards the end. Before, a rapid discharge is obtained to produce the desired layer of foam on the beer after which the rate of flow can be reduced by returning the lever to the rear, in which position fine adjustment of a flow rate of Reduced fluid flow can be obtained to complete the filling of the glass without disturbing the scum layer.
When the lever 11 is brought back to the fully closed position shown in FIG. 1, the bosses 34 are arranged directly below or slightly beyond the pivot axis of the lever 11 so that in the closed position a self-locking action is obtained which is sustained by the action of the spring 21.
In practice and during regular use for serving glasses of beer or the like using the tap described, it is observed that no drops form, because when the pad 17 is applied tightly to its seat, beer or other liquid is retained in the discharge spout 5.
To removably fix the body 10 containing the valve in position in the housing 1, a pin 39 is used (fig. 5) which can pass coaxially through the pivot sleeve 33 of the actuating lever 11. As seen in fig. 3, 4 and 5, when the pin 39 has been removed, the assembly comprising the body 10 and the valve 9 can be easily removed from the housing 1 by means of the operating lever 11 for cleaning.
In order to give a finished appearance to the faucet, the socket 12 is provided with a cap 40 which is held in place by the pivot sleeve 33 and has a slot 41 on its upper face to allow angular movement of the lever 11 and also to limit said angular movement. As shown, an inner rib 42 of the cap can elastically engage in a groove provided for it in the socket 12.
After the assembly comprising the body 10 and the valve 9 has been removed from the housing, it can be disassembled by removing the sleeve 33 for further cleaning or for a check as necessary, as shown in figs. 6 to 10. In this connection it may be mentioned that the axis of the sleeve 33 and of the pin 39 is preferably disposed eccentrically with respect to the axis of the body 10 and of the housing 1 so that the pivot axis of the operating lever 11 is located in a position suitable for the cam action described and also to ensure that the body 10, the valve 9 and the housing 1 cannot be assembled together. the reverse.
For this purpose, the upper part of the bore 16 of the sleeve 12 must correspond to the section of the head 20.
Not only can the parts of the tap coming into contact with beer or other fluid passing through the tap, i.e. the housing 1 and the exterior of the body 10, be easily disassembled without using tools, but they also present the advantage of being free from impurity traps which could cause contamination of the beer or other liquid, while the tight fitting of the lower end 19 of the valve 9 prevents any coming into contact with the beer or the like liquid with the actuating mechanism.
