Process for producing a dye The main patent relates to a process for producing a dye which is advantageously suitable for dyeing plasticized polyvinyl chloride and paints and for printing inks and is characterized by very good fastness properties, with perylene-3,4, 9,10-tetracarboxylic acid or its anhydride condensed with p-cyclohexylaniline.
It has now been found that a dye with similarly excellent fastness properties and of great purity and brilliance is obtained if perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid or its anhydride is reacted with 1-amino-3-iodobenzene. Due to its high fastness properties, the new dye is very well suited as a pigment in the printing inks and coatings industry, for real coloring of plastics, e.g. B. polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, also in so-called stoving enamels or for dyeing in the spinning mass.
Example 1 20 parts by weight of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, 50 parts by weight of 1-amino-3-iodobenzene and 5 parts by volume of concentrated hydrochloric acid are added one after the other to 300 parts by volume of quinoline. The mixture is heated to 205-210 for 18 hours with continuous distillation of the water formed. After cooling from about 80, the product is filtered off with suction, washed with methanol, boiled with dilute sodium hydroxide solution, filtered off with suction, washed neutral and dried ge.
The red dye, which is sparingly soluble in the usual organic solvents, does not melt up to 300 and dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red-violet color without fluorescence. It is characterized by particular clarity and excellent authenticity properties both in paints and in plastics, such as. B. polyvinyl chloride mixtures, and has a very good oiliness, spray-over fastness, solvent fastness, bleeding fastness and light fastness.
Example 2 5 parts by weight of hydrogen chloride and a mixture of 20 parts by weight of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and 50 parts by weight of 1-amino-3-iodobenzene are introduced into 300 parts by volume of quinoline registered. The mixture is heated to 195-200 for 8 hours while continuously distilling off the water and, as indicated in Example 1, worked up. The dye obtained is identical to the product obtained in Example 1.
Example 3 20 parts by weight of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and 10 parts by volume of concentrated hydrochloric acid are introduced into 250 parts by volume of 1-amino-3-iodobenzene. The mixture is heated to 180-190 for 10 hours and the water formed is continuously distilled off. The product is worked up as described in Example 1.
The dye obtained is identical to the products described in Examples 1 and 2.
