Connection device comprising a safety shutter The object of the invention is a coupling device with a safety shutter, of the type in which the two members to be connected are formed, on the one hand, by an end piece of elastic material, on the other share by a tubular sleeve on which this end piece is in dark force tightly, characterized in that, inside that of.
two members which is upstream relative to the direction of flow of the fluid is arranged a shutter valve oriented so as to close in the direction of the flow of the fluid under the action of a return spring, while the Another member contains means suitable for pushing this valve back to the open position when the end piece is pushed onto the sleeve.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the device forming the subject of the invention, applied to the case of a gas stove.
Fig. 1 is an overall schematic view showing a valve arranged at the end of a fixed gas supply pipe, a flexible pipe connected to this valve and part of a gas stove to which this flexible pipe is , on the other hand, connected.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section of a first form of the connection device, arranged between the flexible pipe and the gas supply pipe, the parts being shown in the normal position of use.
Fig. 3 is a similar section showing the second form of connection, disposed between the flexible pipe and the gas stove.
Figs. 4 and 5 are sections corresponding respectively to those of FIGS. 2 and 3, but showing the position of the parts in the event of the flexible hose being pulled out. Fig. 1 shows a connection, using a flexible pipe 1 (Fig. 1) of rubber or similar flexible and elastic material, between a fixed gas inlet valve 2 and a gas stove 3 of any type.
We know that it happens quite frequently that, following handling of the stove 3 (for example during its cleaning), the pipe 1 is torn either from the tap 2 or from the stove 3, thus causing the flow. untimely pressurized gas which continues to flow and which spreads in the atmosphere of the room. If the user does not notice this incident in time, the toxic gas content makes the air unbreathable and can therefore lead to fatal accidents.
To remedy this risk, the coupling device forming the subject of the invention connects each end of the pipe 1, on the one hand to the tap 2, on the other hand to the stove 3, these two devices being produced according to two different forms of execution. With regard to the connection of the pipe 1 with the fixed gas inlet valve 2, this valve 2 comprises an angled end piece 4 provided with a threaded end 4a into which the threaded upper end d is tightly screwed. 'a tubular sleeve 5, preferably made of metal,
which constitutes the upstream member of the connecting device. The slightly frustoconical periphery of the sleeve 5 comprises circular notches 5a forming retaining teeth for the end 1a of the flexible pipe 1, which end constitutes the end piece or downstream member of the connection device. In addition, the axial bore of the sleeve 5 forms a guide for the inner tube 6 of a shutter valve. This tube comprises, towards its upper end, two orifices 6a cut out in its wall.
It is closed at its top by a bottom 6b on which is attached a head 8 in the form of a projecting disc made of a soft material such as rubber, leather or an appropriate plastic material, this disc being held in place by a metal ring tightened by a nut 7 screwed on a threaded shank integral with the bottom 6b. The upper end of the sleeve 5 forms a seat for the projecting part of the head 8. The guide tube 6 still comprises, near its lower end, a cylindrical shoulder 6c which slides in the lower part with a larger diameter of the head. sleeve bore 5.
This shoulder 6c forms a support stop for a helical return spring 9 housed between said shoulder and the shoulder which connects the lower part with a large diameter of the bore of the sleeve 5 to the upper part with smaller diameter in which slides the tube 6. It is understood that, under these conditions, the spring 9 returns the tube 6 downwards while tending to keep the projecting head 8 applied to the upper end of the sleeve 5, that is to say in tending to close the shutter valve.
It will be noted that this closing of the valve takes place in the normal direction of gas flow from line 4.
Inside the end 1a, forming the end piece of the pipe 1, there is sealingly disposed a barrel 10a integral with a tubular pusher 10 oriented towards the outlet of the end or end piece 1a. This pusher has an internal diameter very slightly greater than the external diameter of the tube 6, but of an external diameter smaller than the diameter of the lower part of the axial bore of the sleeve 5. The fixing of the barrel 10a in the nozzle can s 'Perform in any suitable manner, for example by directly molding this end piece on the base 10a.
The operation of the connection device of FIGS. 2 and 4 is the following: when the two members of this connector (that is to say the sleeve 5 and the end piece 1a) are separated from one another (position of FIG. 4); the spring 9 maintains the valve 6-8 in the closed position, preventing any untimely release of gas.
When the tip 1a is pushed onto the sleeve 5, the tubular pusher 10 engages the large-diameter lower part of the sleeve bore around the end of the guide tube 6, and thus pushes back the sleeve. shoulder 6c by opening the valve and keeping it in the open position, as shown in fig. 2.
If, as a result of any accident, the end piece 1 comes out of the sleeve 5 (for example if the pipe 1 is accidentally hooked on), the valve 6-8 closes automatically under the effect of the spring 9 and any gas leak is therefore avoided.
The connection device between the flexible pipe 1 and the gas stove 3 is established according to a slightly different embodiment. Here the gas pipe 3 of the stove carries at its inlet end a sleeve 11 with a swelling portion 11a suitable for receiving the end lb of the pipe 1 in a sealed manner, which end thus acts as a tip. The upstream organ of the connection is therefore constituted by the end 1 b and the downstream organ by the sleeve 11.
As in the case of Figs. 2 and 4 the valve is mounted in the upstream member, that is to say in the end piece lb. It also comprises a guide tube 6 terminated by a bottom 6b and notched in < I> 6a in the immediate vicinity of this bottom, said bottom carrying the head 8 of flexible material held in place by the nut 7 and the metal washer clamped by the latter.
In the present embodiment of the connecting device, the tube 6 slides in a barrel 15 mounted in a sealed manner inside the end piece lb. It is the lower end of this barrel 15 which forms a seat for the projecting part of the head 8, the valve therefore closes from the bottom up, that is to say in the direction of gas flow. , as in the case of fig. 2 and 4. The spring 9 for returning the valve to the closed position is arranged between the upper end of the barrel 15 and the shoulder 6c of the tube 6.
When the two members of the connection, that is to say the sleeve 11 and the end piece lb, are separated (position of FIG. 5), the spring 9 maintains the valve 6-8 in the closed position. When the end piece lb is pushed onto the sleeve 11, the end of the latter abuts against the shoulder 6c and thus forms a pusher to open the valve (position of FIG. 3).
It will be noted that, here again, in the event of untimely tearing of the pipe 1, the spring 9 automatically closes the valve 8, thus preventing any gas leakage.
