Retractable windshield The present invention relates to a retractable windshield for a vehicle.
This windshield is characterized in that it comprises a series of transparent blades telescopically connected to each other by their lateral edges so that, in the retracted position, they are drawn up parallel to one another. other on one of their bases and that, in the position of use, they are deployed upwards, overlapping each other. by their bases.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the subject of the present invention as well as a variant.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view in the deployed position of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a top view in the retracted position.
Fig. 3 is a partial view similar to FIG. 2, on a larger scale.
The fi-. 4 is a partial sectional view along IV-IV of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a partial view, similar to FIG. 3, of the variant.
Fig. 6 is a partial view on a larger scale of FIG. 1 in the partially unfolded position.
7 is a top view of FIG. 6.
The windshield shown in fig. 1 to 4 comprises a series of transparent slats 1 telescopically connected to each other by means of transparent parts 2 having a groove 3 and a rib 4 and fixed by means of screws 5 to the side edges of each of the slats 1, the rib 4 of each part 2 engaging in the groove 3 of the corresponding part 2 of one of the adjacent blades to allow deployment of the windshield.
The parts 2 are provided with a locking device 6 which prevents, on the one hand, their dislocation and, on the other hand, the collapse of the windshield in the deployed position.
This device shown in more detail in FIGS. 6 and 7 comprises a curved spring leaf 13, fixed laterally to the lower end of said parts 2 in front of the rib 4, this blade 13 locking in the deployed position of the windshield, on a tenon 14 fixed to the front face and at the upper end of part 2 of the underlying blade 1.
The parts 2 are, on the other hand, designed so as to maintain a sufficient distance between the adjacent blades 1 to avoid any direct contact between the latter. The upper blade is provided with a part 2 'without a groove, given that it is mounted on a non-retractable transparent blade 7, fixed to said upper blade by means of screws 8 and serving as a fly screen when the rest of the windscreen is retracted.
The blades 1 as well as the parts 2 can be made of molded transparent plastic such as plexiglass, cellulose acetate, etc., and can even possibly be made in one piece by injection. The transparent blade 7 can be tinted so as to act as a sun visor when the windshield is deployed.
In the variant shown in FIG. 5, the blades 1 have their side edges curved so as to fit telescopically into one another without having to be fitted with fitting parts 2.
In this case, the blades 1 risk being scratched by friction against each other during the deployment of the windshield, but a sufficient gap to avoid this inconvenience can be maintained between the blades 1 by means of glued spacers. on the slats 1 or come in one piece with the latter.
As seen in fig. 3, the blades 1 of the windshield, when they are in the retracted position, are drawn up parallel to one another on one of their large bases in a housing 9 open at its upper part, this housing being able to be closed at the top. by means of a cover (not shown) which, in the case where the last element of the windshield is a non-retractable blade 7, must have a slot through which the blade 7 projects outwardly.
In this position, the blade 7 will serve as a fly screen, while the other blades 1 will be protected from dust inside the housing 9.
The windshield shown in the drawing is more particularly intended to be fixed to the handlebars 10 of a scooter and the housing 9 has, for this purpose, fasteners II to the handlebars. 10.
In order to avoid any infiltration of air, in particular between the handlebars 10 and the housing 9, the latter is provided with a screen, protector 12 of flexible plastic material or of rubberized canvas, for example, the dimensions of which may vary according to the kind of scooter the windshield will be mounted on.
It is obvious that the profile of the parts 2 can be varied at will and that the latter can also be made, for example, of metal. On the other hand, the housing 9 can also be replaced by a simple support.
