An evacuation device for a mold used in a die-casting machine The present invention relates to a discharge device for a mold used in a die-casting machine, in which the mold has a channel for discharging the air and the air. 'es gases.
Devices of this type are known and have been described in Swiss patents Nos 302974, 306274 and 317964 by the same inventor.
Although the valves controlling the evacuation of air and gases in the molds function satisfactorily, their mounting on one of the mold halves presents certain difficulties, given the lack of sufficient space and given the unfavorable conditions. temperature rise which tend to deteriorate the gaskets used in these valves. In addition, any repair or maintenance of the valve requires the machine to be dismantled from half the mold, which is a serious drawback, especially in the case of large molds.
Finally it was found that although the adaptation of the valve to the mold is generally possible in the case of new molds, which can be constructed accordingly, this adaptation is often impossible in the case of molds which have been used, since these molds are quenched to a very high degree, which makes machining difficult. Any machining, or welding operation, on hardened molds carries the risk of causing new tensions and distortions which must be avoided.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by using a valve which is independent of the mold and not connected to the latter, this valve being mounted on the frame of the die-casting machine. This device comprises means for bringing it into contact with the mold before the injection and for moving it away from the mold when the injection is finished.
This valve is also provided with means for controlling these movements and for allowing the air and gases to be evacuated from the cavity of the mold and means for ensuring the closing of the air outlet channel of the mold at the time. desired during the injection phase.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 shows, schematically, part of a pressurized melting machine, controlled hydraulically, the mold being closed, and the evacuation device.
Fig. 2 shows, schematically, one of the mold halves having an air exhaust channel.
Fig. 3 shows the same arrangement as in FIG. 1, the mold being open.
Fig. 4 is a horizontal section of the discharge device, the mold being open.
Fig. 5 shows the same section as in FIG. 4, the mold being closed, before the valve is closed.
Fig. 6 shows the same section as in fig. 4 and 5, the valve being closed.
With reference to FIG. 1, this die-casting machine comprises a frame 1, on which is fixed a mold 2 formed of two parts 3 and 4. A locking mechanism keeps the two parts 3 and 4 of the mold tight against one another.
This mechanism, which generally comprises a toggle device, has been shown succinctly by a hydraulic cylinder 5 in which slides a control piston 6 acting by a rod 7 on a clamping part 8 intended to hold the part 3 pressed against the part 4. of the mold itself bearing against the frame 1. This clamping part 8 is usually supported by rods (not shown) sliding in bearings fixed in the frame of the machine. Part 3 of the mold has holes for the rods 3a of an extractor device which is known and is therefore not described or shown in detail.
The frame 1 carries an injection sleeve 9, into which the molten metal is intended to be poured through an opening 10. This metal is intended to be driven into the cavity 11 of the mold 2 by an injection piston 12 connected by a rod 13 with a control piston 14 sliding in a cylinder 15.
The pistons 6 and 14 are actuated by a hydraulic pressure coming from the control station 16 of the machine via various supply lines for the cylinders 5 and 15. Liquid under pressure, coming from a pump for example. , is brought by a pipe 17 to the control station 16 of the machine. From there, a pipe 18 allows the supply of the cylinder 5 to cause the closing of the mold 2. A pipe 19 ensures without interruption the sending of liquid under pressure on the other face of the piston 6 to cause the opening of the mold 2. A pipe 20 connects the control station 16 to the cylinder 15 to allow it to be supplied with liquid under pressure when the injection phase is desired.
A pipe 21 makes it possible to control the piston 14 in the opposite direction, which corresponds to the withdrawal of the injection piston 12.
The mold 2 also has a channel 22 allowing the exhaust of the air contained in the form 11, as well as in the injection sleeve 9 during the phase of injection of the metal into the mold. This channel 22 is extended by a pipe 23 leading to a suction installation 64, making it possible to create a vacuum in the form 11 before the injection of metal therein takes place. A valve 24 controls the outlet of the channel 22 in order to be able to close this channel when the form 11 is filled with the molten metal.
In the example shown, this valve 24 is controlled by hydraulic pressure via a pipe 25 derived from pipe 20, in the manner indicated in the aforementioned patent N 317964.
The various operating phases of the machine are controlled by means of an operating member 26 capable of occupying three positions 1, il, III.
The part of the machine which differs essentially from the above-mentioned patents is the special arrangement of the valve 24. In fact, the latter is mounted in a central body 27 (see fig. 4 to 6) independent of the mold. 2.
This central body 27 is itself movable relative to the frame 1 of the machine, so as to be able to "be brought into contact with the mold 2 during the casting operation and to be able to be moved away from the mold 2 after the injection. tion, control means, which may be any, ensuring the supply of the valve 24 in the closed position of the channel 22 at the time chosen during the casting operation.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 to 6, the valve 24 is disposed within a portion 28 in the general shape of a bell. This part 28 is integral with the central body 27 and its edge 29 is intended to be brought contiguously against the mold 2 during the casting operation, so as to encircle the outlet orifice 30 of the air exhaust channel 22 .
As shown in Figs. 4 to 6, the central movable body 27 is constituted by a differential piston having a face of large section 31 and an opposite face of smaller section 32. This differential piston 31, 32 slides in a corresponding cylinder 33 constituting the body main valve which is fixed to the frame 1 of the machine, by means of tabs 34 and screws 34a. Part 35 of cylinder 33 in which the face of large section 31 of differential piston 27 slides is closed by a plug 36. This part 35 is in communication with an extension 37 of line 18 supplying cylinder 5.
A gasket 38 seals the face 31 of the differential piston in part 35 of the cylinder 33. This cylinder 33 comprises another larger bore 39, in which the face 32 of the differential piston is located. Gaskets 40 and 41, held by guide rings 42, 43 and 44, provide sealing between the bore 39, on the one hand, and the differential piston 31, 32, on the other hand. The guide ring 43 rests on a threaded ring 45 screwed into the right end of the cylinder 33. The bore 39 of the cylinder 33 is in communication with the pipe 19 by an extension 46 of this pipe.
The valve 24 is constituted by a rod controlled by a piston 47 sliding in a cylindrical housing 48 of the central body 27. This cylinder 48 is closed at its right end by the part 28 in the form of a bell which has a protrusion. threaded 49 screwed into the cylindrical housing 48. The piston 47 is returned to the opening position of the valve 24 by an antagonistic spring device, shown schematically by a single coil spring 50. Adjustment means make it possible to make vary 'the return force of the positive antagonist spring device 50. These adjustment means are constituted, in the particular case, by a threaded sleeve 51 screwed into the central part of the bell 28, sleeve 51 against which bears the spring 50.
The outer end 52 of this sleeve 51 is profiled so as to be able to be driven in rotation using a tool of corresponding shape.
A channel 53 pierced in the central body 27 and extended by a connector 54 connects the left part of the cylinder 48 to the pipe 20 via the bypass pipe 25. The piston 47 is provided with a seal 55.
The edge 29 of the bell 28 is formed on a part 56 screwed onto the rest of the bell 28. A filter 57 is clamped between the two parts. constituting this bell 28, this filter 57 having a central opening for the passage of the valve 24.
As seen in Figs. 4 to 6, the arrangement of the valve 24 is such that the axis of the latter is included in the contact plane 58 of the two parts 3 and 4 of the mold 2, this axis being arranged perpendicular to the face 59 of the mold which leads to channel 22.
The operation of the machine described above, with reference to the appended drawing, takes place as follows: The movement, by the operator of the machine, of the operating member 26 - from position I to position II causes the pressurized liquid supply to the line 18.
The piston 6 is then pushed to the right, against the action of the pressure of the liquid acting on the other face of the piston 6 thanks to the pipe 19, which moves the clamping part 8 and brings the two parts 3 and 4 , of the mold in contact with each other. At this moment, the pressure in the closing cylinder 5 increases, which causes a displacement of the central body 27 and of the bell 28 in the direction of the face 59 of the mold 2. The hydraulic pressure acting in the cylindrical part 35 applies. the bell 28 strongly against the face 59 and a ring 61, for example of aluminum, ensures the seal between the edge of the bell and the face 59 of the mold 2.
The pipe 23, which communicates with the interior of the bell 28 by a passage 62 made in the latter, allows the suction installation 64 to create a vacuum in the form 11. As soon as the operator has poured a charge of molten metal in the injection sleeve 9 through the opening 10, it moves the actuator 26 from position II to position III. In this position of the member of my work 26, the pipe 18 is still under pressure, which ensures the clamping of the two parts 3 and 4 of the mold, and the pipe 20 is then pressurized.
The actual injection phase is controlled by the movement of the piston 14 in the cylinder 15 causing the advance of the injection piston 12 in the sleeve 9 in the direction of the part 3. The pressure also increases in the pipe 25 However, the valve 24 is brought into the closed position of the channel 22 only when the pressure in this pipe 25 reaches a value greater than the counter-force produced by the spring 50.
As this opposing force can be regulated by means of the sleeve 51, it is possible to choose the moment when the channel 22 is closed by the valve 24 after the passage of the molten metal in the tight part 63 of the metal supply channel. melted into form 11, preferably when the injection phase is almost complete.
When the pressure drop, caused by the passage of molten metal through the constricted portion 63, causes a sufficient pressure rise in the line 25 to overcome the force of the counter device 50, the valve 24 moves towards the orifice. outlet of the channel 22 of the mold 2 to close ceilui = ci (see fig. 6).
The injection phase6 being completed, the operator of the machine returns the actuator 26 from position III to position I, the position in which the pipes 18 and 20 are exhausted by a pipe 60, then that the line 21 is supplied with liquid under pressure. The pressure which acts continuously on the face 32 of the differential piston that constitutes the central body 27 and on the face of small surface area of the control piston 6 then causes these two pistons to move in the opposite direction.
The ratios of the two opposite faces of each of these pistons are chosen so that the differential piston 31, 32 moves away from the mold 2 before the two parts 3 and 4 of the latter have moved away from one another. 'other, this in order to avoid a possible deterioration of the ring 61. The release of the pipe 20 simultaneously causes a drop in pressure in the pipe 25 allowing the piston 47 to control the valve. 24 to resume his resting position. In addition, the pressure acting in the cylinder 15 through the line 21 returns the injection piston 12 to the retracted position.
Thus, the casting can be taken out of form 11 with the machine ready for a new casting.
Numerous variants of execution of this evacuation device could be imagined. Thus, the central body 27 could be returned to the rest or retracted position either by a permanent hydraulic pressure acting in the space 39, or by a counter spring. The forward movement in the active position of the central body 27 could be caused by any other pneumatic, electrical or purely mechanical means. As for the control of the valve 24, it could also be done by any hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical or mechanical means, whether or not independent of the circuit controlling the injection phase of the piston 12.
This special arrangement of the valve 24 for controlling the exhaust channel 22 could be applied to a pressure casting machine not provided with a suction installation 64.
The special arrangement of this valve 24, which has been described above with reference to the accompanying drawing, was applied to a pressure melting machine of the horizontal type and with a cold chamber. However, it goes without saying that this arrangement could be -applied to any type of pressurized melting machine, whether of the type with a hot chamber and with a horizontal or vertical injection piston.
