Belted garment The object of the invention is a belted garment comprising a front piece and a back piece, the edges of these pieces being joined to each other by a side seam starting from a point located at some distance below the waistband.
This garment is characterized by a pocket consisting of a blank folded on itself, the lower edges of this blank being sewn to each other, and the lower parts of the side edges of the pocket also being sewn together. to the other, while the front edges of trim strips are sewn to the upper portions of the side edges of the blank, the posterior edge of one of the aforesaid trim strips being sewn to the free edge of the blank and to the front piece of the garment, while the rear edge of the other trim strip is sewn to the back piece of this garment.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention, as well as variants, the item of clothing considered being work trousers.
Fig. 1 is an interior side elevational view of said embodiment and shows the area of the seam between the waistband and the side seam and a back pocket.

Fig. 3 is a similar view, taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
The fi g. 4 is a similar view, taken along the line 4-4 of FIG. 1. FIG. 5 is a plan view of a blank used to make the side pocket.
Fig. 6 is a cross section, schematic on the line 6-6 of FIG. 5.
Fig. 7 is a cross section, schematic, showing an initial stage of the operation consisting in transforming the part of FIGS. 5 and 6 in one pocket and to incorporate this pocket into the pants.
Fig. 8 is a similar view relating to a variant.
Figs. 9 and 10 are detailed and schematic cross-sectional views relating to variants of finishing seams.
The pants 1 shown in FIG. 1 may be a work overall, a panty @ dungaree, or a sports panty. It has a front piece 2 and a back piece 3, joined to each other by a vertical side seam 4 and ending, with their flush edges, at the waistband 5. The seam 4 is reproduced on l The other side of the heel pan, identical in nature, so that the representation of one side is sufficient to highlight the two sides.
The view of FIG. 1 corresponds to the inner side of the upper part of the heel pan and represents one of the two identical side pockets 6 and an identical rear pocket or back pocket 7, the latter pocket being able to be incorporated in a single copy, or to be presented in double. ble, either on each side hips-behind.
The side pocket 6 is formed from a blank as shown at 10 in FIG. 5 and which is cut, in the shape shown, from any suitable fabric, for example twill or cotton canvas, or the like, i.e. any strong and durable fabric which will obviously be of species other than that of Exhibits 2 and 3.
Two marginal trim strips 11, 12, made of the same material as parts 2 and 3, are sewn to the blank 10 in relative positions shown in Figs. 5 and 6, ie along approximately the upper half of the two side edges of one face of the blank, the longitudinal edges of these strips being hemmed, as shown in FIG. 6. The outer edge hems 13, 14 of the bands 11, 12, respectively, are not blank stitched 10, while the inner edge hems 15, 16, of the two bands, respectively, are stitched together. blank by stitching 17, 18, respectively, as shown in fig. 6.
The blank, to which the trim strips have been fixed only by the stitching 17 18, is folded in the middle along the vertical line 20, which thus divides the blank of the pocket into two parts. the outer half 21 and the inner half 22 can be denominated, respectively, as shown in FIG. 7. The bottom edges and the bottom parts of the side edges (below the trim strips. 11 and 12) of the folded blank are sewn together by a seam 25, as shown in figs. . 1 and 2.
That of the edges of the blank which extends along the hem 14 is itself hemmed, as indicated at 26 in FIG. 7, while that of the edges of this blank which runs along the hem 13 is not hemmed, like my tré in 27.
It should be noted here that the seam of wise finishes, provided by the stitch 25, can be constituted by the folded, hemmed and looped assembly, shown in FIG. 2, or else, this seam can be established in a different way, as shown in each of fig. 9 and 10, which will be described below, these construction variants can be applied both to the back pocket 7 and to the side pocket 6.
Thus formed, the pocket is ready to be incorporated into the trousers, which will be carried out as follows. The side seam 4 of the trousers is left or green at its upper part, that is to say over a distance which, measured from the waistband 5, is equal to the length of the trim strips 11, 12.
When the formed pocket is in place, so that its upper horizontal marginal part is inserted under the belt and, preferably, sewn to it, the free rear edge 30 of the front piece 2 is folded inwards. pants, as indicated by arrow 31 in fig. 7, between the hem 14 of the trim strip 12 and the hem 26 of the outer half 21 of the pocket, the edges of these three elements (piece 2 of the pants, half 21 of the pocket and the trim strip 12) are fixed to each other by a stitch 32, as shown in fig. 3.
The front free edge 35 of the rear piece 3 of the trousers is turned over the hemmed edge 36 of a relatively narrow binding strip 37, which may be made of a material of the same kind as the blank 10 of the pocket. , the two edges 35 and 36 being joined together at the edge of the trim strip 11 by means of a stitch 40, as indicated in FIG. 3. The free edge of the connecting strip 37 is then turned forward, as indicated by the arrow 41 in fig. 7 and is folded together with the free edge of half 22 of the pocket so as to form the hem 42, which is then fixed by a stitch 43.
For the clarity of the representation, only simple injections have been represented; it is however of course understood that in practice the various elements can be sewn together with the aid of several parallel stitches, which is even preferable since it results in a higher resistance and a longer duration.
In addition, and while the most favorable embodiments include double folds, as shown in the drawing, it is perfectly possible to provide embodiments having only single folds if preferred.
Fig. 8 shows a variant in which the connecting strip 37 has been eliminated. In this variant, the half 22 of the blank 10 is somewhat wider than the other half, in order to constitute an extension 50 which is joined by the stitching 40 at the free ends of the trim strip 11 and of the back piece 3 of the trousers. It is understood that the arrangement is the same as that of the figures described above, except that indeed a marginal part integral with the blank of the pocket has been extended, in order to fulfill the functions of the connecting strip 37 .
Fig. 4 shows the simple construction, the most favorable, for the revolver pocket or from behind 7. This pocket is formed of two identical blanks 60, 61 of the same shape as that shown in FIG. 1. The marginal edges of the blanks are stitched together, so as to form a seam 62, the inner blank 60 being cut and completed with a strip of trim 63 (Fig. 1). Piece 3 of the trousers is cut in an analogous manner, in order to determine the opening of the pocket, after which the pocket is sewn into the belt 5 and in the cutout made in piece 3, in accordance with good practice. known.
An important feature of the back pocket or revolver is constituted by the finishing or completion seam 62 which, as seen in FIG. 4, effectively closes the pocket, without the use of any border. The five plies or plies of this seam provide a very efficient stable and durable fence, which is cleanly completed thanks to this folding arrangement. The same advantages are inherent in the completion seam constituted by the stitching 25 and the folded, hemmed and looped marginal edges, which are part of the fabric used for the side pocket, as shown in fig. 2.
Figs. 9 and 10 show variants of the completion stitch which has just been described. While in these two figures this seam has been shown in connection with the inner and outer half, respectively 21 and 22, of the side pocket, it should be noted that the same seam may replace that of the side pocket. fig. .4 where it is applied to enclose blanks 60 and 61 of the back pocket.
In the variant according to FIG. 9, half 22 is wider than the other and is hemmed and folded over the raw edge of the narrower half, the four thicknesses thus obtained being fixed to each other by the stitch 25. In the variant of the fig. 10, the construction is the same except that an additional stitch 25 'is made to secure the halves 21 and 22 (or the blanks 60 and 61) to each other, in order to consolidate the stitch 25 and 'act as a precautionary or safety supplement to this last stitching, which has the effect of doubling the strength of the seam.
As seen in fig. 3, the seams 17 and 18, by which the material of the pockets is joined to the trim strips of the opening of the pocket, are arranged in such a way that the corners which these seams necessarily form re keep inside, that is to say are turned towards the inside of the pocket, where they are less likely to give rise to accumulations of dust and the like than if they were turned outwards.
