Description

Apparatus for mixing specific proportions of materials
The present invention relates to an apparatus for mixing determined proportions of materials, comprising a container with at least two compartments, each containing one of the materials and each having an ejection nozzle, the latter being arranged side by side, and an expulsion device acting simultaneously in all the compartments so as to cause them to discharge at each of the quantities of materials proportional to their respective capacity.

This apparatus is characterized by the fact that said ejection pipes are provided with discharge valves and by the fact that the expulsion device consists of pistons whose heads are at least partially independent of their control members and comprise each a rigid disc, provided with perforations, on which a control member acts, and a flexible membrane with a surface identical to that of the rigid disc, but provided with seals on its edges in contact with the cylindrical walls of the compartment, said membrane being liable to be deformed as a result of pressure changes occurring inside the compartment when the material it contains changes density.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is an axial section of the first embodiment, and
fig. 2, a partial axial section of the second embodiment.

The apparatus shown in FIG. 1 comprises a cylindrical container 1 subdivided into two cylindrical compartments 3 and 4 by virtue of a sleeve-shaped element 2 arranged coaxially inside the container 1.-At the lower end of the two compartments 3 and 4 are arranged tubes d 'ejection 5 and 6 around each of which is fixed, by means of a flange 7, an elastic sleeve 8 covering the terminal orifice 9 of the duct 10 of the ejection pipes 5 and 6, this terminal orifice 9 opening laterally and forming a right angle with the duct 10 arranged in the extension of the compartments 3 and 4.

The compartments 3 and 4 of the container 1 can contain liquid, viscous or pasty materials which will be ejected by said pipes 5 and 6 by means of an expulsion device formed by two pistons 11 and 12 integral with one another and each entering one of the two compartments 3 and 4 parallel to their axis. The piston 12 is provided with a thread 13 which engages in a threaded part 14 arranged at the end of the compartment 4 opposite to that which is provided with the tubing 6.

The piston 1 1 which takes the shape of a cylinder whose outer diameter is less than the inner diameter of the container 1, is integral with the piston 12, so that, by rotating the pistons around their axis, the container 1 remaining in fixed position, the piston 12 progressively engages in the threaded part 14 of the compartment 4 thanks to its threaded part 13, driving with it the piston 11, which causes a simultaneous ejection of the materials contained in these two compartments by the tubes 5 and 6 in a manner proportional to their respective capacity. The heads of the pistons 1 1 and 12 are independent of their control members and each comprise a rigid disc 15 and 16 provided with perforations 17 on which the ends of the heads of the pistons 11 and 12 act.

The disc 16 is still surmounted by a sleeve 18 serving as a housing for the end of the piston rod 12 and as a guide along the wall 2 of the compartment 4. The heads of the pistons further include, below the discs. 15 and 16, flexible independent membranes 19 and 20 of surface identical to that of the rigid discs 15 and 16, but provided with seals 21 and 22 on their edges in contact with the cylindrical walls of compartments 3 and 4.

If, for some reason, the materials contained in compartments 3 and 4 of the apparatus contract, the membranes 19 and 20 are deformed by the vacuum produced and move away from the rigid discs 15 and 16 through the orifices 17 of which can penetrate air in order to allow this separation and thus avoids any entry of air into the part of compartments 3 and 4 containing said materials. The formation of air bubbles in these materials and any possible deterioration of the latter in contact with air as long as they are stored in compartments 3 and 4 of the container can thus be avoided.

If, on the contrary, the materials expand, the membranes 19 and 20 are deformed by the pressure produced in the direction of the rigid discs 15 and 16, on the condition, however, that the pressure exerted by the pistons has been reduced after the previous operation, for example by unscrewing the pistons one or two turns. This prevents the materials from being expelled unintentionally.

In the apparatus shown in FIG. 2, the rigid disc 16 is riveted, welded or screwed at 23 to the end of the piston 12 and therefore forms one unit with the latter. The rigid disc 15 comprises tongues or a folded edge 24 forming a groove in which is inserted a shoulder 25 which the base of the piston 11. In this case, the rigid discs 15 and 16 follow the axial movements of the pistons. The seals 21 and 22 are constantly pressed against the cylindrical walls of the compartments 3 respectively 4, by means of flanges 26 respectively 27.
