Explosion-proof switch According to the draft 1.957 regulations for explosion-proof apparatus of the SEV, the protection type flameproof enclosure is to be used for the switching contacts of an electrical switch, while the protection type increased safety is sufficient for the outer space including terminals (see section 4.1 and 4.4 of the mentioned draft) .
The switch according to the invention has a pressure-tight encapsulated inner space, containing tend the switching contacts, and an outer space with the terminals in protection type increased security and is characterized in that the pressure-proof encapsulation of the inner space from a vessel, closed by a sen Lid, consists, the lid containing the power feedthroughs.
An example of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing. The vessel 1 is designed as a metallic pot, while the lid 2 consists of a disc made of insulating material. Vessel 1 and cover 2 form a pressure-tight enclosure. The power feedthroughs 4 carry at their outer end the connection terminals 5, which are carried out together with the housing 6, 7 with increased security and are protected by the latter from accidental contact. Instead of as shown in the drawing, the vessel 1 and the lower part 6 of the outer housing could be formed as a common piece.
In the example shown, the drive of the switch goes through the outer cover 7 and the shaft 8 through the cover 2 made of insulating material. Instead, it would also be possible to drive the drive through the bottom of the switch, i.e. H. through the vessel 1 and the lower part 6 of the housing.
In terms of production engineering, shapes are particularly simple when the vessel 1 and lid 2 are designed as rotating bodies, with the power feedthroughs 4 advantageously being arranged on a circle around the axis of rotation. In addition, it is advantageous if in the cover 2 all the openings for the bushings and the switch drive are parallel, preferably parallel to the axis of rotation. If the cover 2 is to be produced in a pressing process, pressing is made easier if the openings widen conically to one side.
In order to obtain a pressure-tight connection between the leadthroughs 4 and the cover 2, the lead-through bolts can also be conically formed, regardless of whether their cross-section is a circle or a rectangle, or has any other shape.
There are various options for attaching the lid 2 to the vessel 1. In the solution shown in the drawing, a groove was screwed into the inside of the vessel 1, into which a snap ring 9 was inserted, which holds the cover 2 against possible explosion pressures inside the housing 1. Another solution would be to provide both vessel 1 and cover 2 with a Ge thread and screw the cover 2.
